He says:
1) Superamoled is very good
2) Dolby atmos for playing video or spotify is good
3) Camera in day light is 6/7 but in the night is worst
4) For make work the light sensor you must always slide the phone
5) The audio during a call is a little bit metallic
6) Radio signal is good
7) For starting a call you must always slide
8) it have a little notification led near usb type C
I'm sure that if some developers take on their hand this phone will be a best buy.

not at rhe moment, we hopes that some developers do some rom for this phone

Hello,
I'm interested by the z5 pro but a friend of mine who's an average mobile-phone consumer warned me about Lenovo's build quality; they have a bad reputation. The reviewer in this video and the comments say the same about Lenovo's overall quality (I'm not allowed to post links so I just give the title and you can search for the video if you haven't seen it yet):
Lenovo Z5 Pro Review - What Were They Thinking!
It seems that is one of the main cons that pops up with poor ui (will custom rom save it?), poor photo quality, ... The reviewer concluded that this phone is not worth the money (he mentioned a better alternative but I couldn't understand which one he was about).
the fact that it has a notch-less amoled screen is the main advantage for the price but... maybe it would be better to just add the difference and get the Mi Mix 3.
Still thinking.

Thanks for post, now I'm only waiting for LineageOS or other AOSP rom

I saw the review and this is my think:
the hardware of lenovo z5 pro is excellent and the only problem is the optimization of lenovo software.
If in XDA some developers start to develops roms for this phone it will be an absolute best buy that can be like xiaomi mi mix3 and also honor magic 2.

Hello,
I do think that custom roms would definitely improve the z5 pro value. But it will also depend on lenovo support for the phone; Will they realease the required sources or not?
By the way do you know a website selling the phone? What is its actual price in China?
Thx!

Wait... There's no official TWRP for Z5 Pro yet. How can you come over saying there's way to install TWRP?... Don't misguide us Mr. @BadCluster

Photo Thread - Post your camera samples here

I have been on the fence about this phone for sometime. Now the pro version is out and has the same camera sensor in it I am interested to see how both the mi note and mi note pro do for photos. I really don't want to get the LG G4 or the S6 and just need to hear some views about the camera quality especially indoor shots and moving objects. Will appreciate any posts. Thanks.

Is it me or does focus look a little off ? Thank you for uploading though. Been wanting to see if camera was any good.
I will take some pictures today and upload them for you.
It is but its because the photo is taken like 5" from the work. I was maxing out the focus. This phone has a manual focus though which is absolutely amazing. It's the first phone I have had to have manual focus mode and most of the time, especially taking super close up pictures like this its really nice.
May I ask what is the intention or purpose of this tread?
There are many devices using the IMX214 sensor that is used in the Mi Note Pro already. Test pictures are available for all of them.
It's quite sad that my Mi Note Pro uses the outdated Sony IMX214 sensor that was already used in my one year old Mi4. They should have used the IMX240 which is used in the Samsung Galaxy Note 4. The direct comparison differences are huge (I have all 3 mentioned devices)
Specs:
Name | Pixels | Sensor size | Cell size
IMX230 | 21MP | 7.487 mm | 1.12 μm × 1.12 μm | LeTV Max
IMX240 | 16MP | 6.828 mm | 1.20 μm × 1.20 μm | Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy S6
IMX214 | 13MP | 5.867 mm | 1.12 μm × 1.12 μm | Oppo Find 7, Xiaomi Mi4, Nexus 6, Huawei Ascend P7

You may ask but I thought the title was clear.
Several phones use the same IMX214 Sensor including several I have owned including Hauwei Ascend Mate 7 and One Plus One others I have not owned also use this sensor. Some companies add another lense and all the companies use different algorithms when processing the photo. I am interested to see if Xiaomi have done a better job with the IMX214 than the other phones I have owned as I have not been impressed but from what I have seen Xiaomi are some how doing a better Job, Also this thread gives users the opportunity to get the best out of their phone camera and compare shots and hopefully improve photography skills through the community that we all love here at xda but if you think it's a pointless thread please report it to a moderator.
I would appreciate it if you uploaded some samples using your Xiaomi Mi Note or if you don't have one like me enjoy the photos others post.

Sure it's not pointless. I just wonder why every single phone needs a "Post your camera Pictures" thread. I think that's pointless for every device forum.
But feel free, I mean this is an open community and to some it may be helpful to see photos shot by this phone.
I rely on http://www.gsmarena.com/piccmp.php3?idType=1 that shoots camera test pictures with repeatable and standardized test conditions.

The Sony IMX214 seems ok but not superb. Especially if I compare the OIS when recording [email protected] of my Note 4 with the [email protected] on the Mi Note Pro. OIS seems absent here...
I would be happy if Xiaomi would include finger print, the latest sony CMOS and IP67 case for their next iteration.
Thanks for starting this thread. I will be posting my photos soon. If you've seen my other photos , then I'm hoping to create some stunning shots.
Note - having a Sony sensor guarantees nothing. Processor, ISP and software can make it amazing or just average, even rubbish. So a more powerful processor with the same hardware lens and software can be better than an older processor too.

Impressive how you got that close to the fly without it moving !! Could you post some indoor photos with no daylight and only light bulbs please. Wondering what the processing does , Thanks.
Cheers
Went in to manual mode, fixed the focus. And asked the fly to stay still

Update: winners chosen.
The (comparatively)small size. For the love of god everybody stop this large(-r) screen madness and making even bigger phones. I like to use my phone in one hand and this one is a welcome change, a bigger battery would have been welcome but sony has shown us that even on Android optimisation can do wonders so looking forward to that

I'm using the Lenovo a6010 plus and my favorite thing about the all new Honor 9 Lite is everything. I love just everything about this phone especially the much smaller and easy to hold display size.
Tall displays are all the rage right now, but the screen estate is not always used by people. However, if you are into eBook reading, then the extra space will make for a better reading experience. If the OS is well optimized, then the battery backup will prove to be decent. I hope there might be OEM plastic backs for those people who are accident prone
The design and display and camera is pretty dope IMHO and i actually like the emui and its based on oreo!!yeyyy!!!
And dat back!!?
Right now I'm using a zuk z2
Specs at this price
Quad Camera and Display
Brilliant Quad Cameras and Beautiful Display. These are usual features about which a normal person will care and this phone excels in both.
Oreo + EMUI (*o*)
Edit: I will buy it anyway.lol.
I'm using HTC Desire 620G and Samsung galaxy s duos 2. The design is pretty sleek and is made of glass and is reflective. I mean the looks are good. I'm really looking forward for the camera and it is a quad camera setup and also looking forward for software and kernel optimizations made by honor when compared to other kirin 659 chips. First budget 18:9 phone from honor so excited to check its quality.
I'm using Pixel 2 XL now and I'm looking forward to advanced quad-camera and awesome infinity display of Honor 9 lite. And of course the headphone jack. I really miss it on Pixel 2 XL
If I win this, I'll support the device by building custom ROMs for it

Really like the Size and display of the phone. The class finish of the front and back looks so gorgeous. And also out of the Box with Oreo is best out of the Best. It is having double tab to sleep and wake up features that every one asked for Kirin processor from Huawei. Worth for money.
Them cameras and stunning design!
Well, the minimal bezel is on trend and this is a boon as we have more screen to consume media or even use apps in split screen mode! But, the thing that excites me the most is dual front and rear camera and Honor promises a hardware level bokeh, so at this price range, it is a first I believe. Super psyched about those cameras. Also, a headphone jack! YAY! I'm using Lenovo Z2 plus now.
See basically right now using redmi 2 which 2-3 years old and for using oreo i have to flash custom roms from xda and developers have migrated to latest devices and with 1GB ram everyone knows how much it sucks
Can't take good selfies, imagine about those bouquet effect pictures with perfect background blur is a dream * I know google camera port is there but its for devices having oreo and 64 bit rom. Redmi 2 is having bugs in oreo to run camera firstly and secondly 64 bit oreo has not came
And battery its like charging and charging again and look wise is not good and display is old 720p display. And internal storage is 8 GB
With all that said i love the honor 9 lite coz its having all the features that my device is having very less
Awesome display,awesome looks,more battery,more ram,more internal storage too,better camera
I am using Moto g 2014.
I like the screen accept ratio of Honor9 Lite. It has beautiful look, efficient processor and excellent camera. Hope I will win
Hi, I'm using an Honor 8 right now, and I love it. What I'm looking forward the most in the Honor 9 Lite is the Dual Selfie cameras because I've liked the dual cameras on my Honor 8. Also, I want to try the 18:9 display, the screen on my current phone is good, and I would like to try the new aspect ratio. Finally and the most important, I want to try Oreo based EMUI 8, I'm really disappointed that my phone won't get EMUI 8 (based on what Honor India wrote), and because I want to try Project "Treble" (a HUGE thanks for @phhusson for his awesome work on "Treble", and also the EMUI camera port I want to try).
I like the 2160×1080 FHD+ screen with the 18:9 Aspect Ratio.
Time for Budget Level war between Honor and Xiaomi !
This is gonna be cool !
Honor 9 Lite, 4 Cameras, 4 Gigs of RAM, at that price! Seems to be a nice catch.
Huawei's on row of releasing high-end smartphones at low price!
Considering all the previous releases (7x,9,10), I guess this one's going to be a super-hit soon.
Like, now just when the crowd was going Whoa to dual cameras, here we have quad lenses! And that too front dual sensors.
Being a Lenovo's mid range (Vibe) smartphone user, I consider these specs to be that of a flagship. Mine powers a 3gig ram, 13MP cam(single lens tho ), 1.3 GHz of processor @ 13K!
A little drawback I feel is the battery. Hosting a very powerful spec, you'll need to have a long battery.
But, overall, it's a good deal for people trying to buy a new phone.
What I like about the Honor 9 Lite is the support given to the powerusers like me and many of us. Treble support and the growing quality of initiatiives make the mid-tier finally suitable for passionates, while additionally seeing such a quick implementation of fullscreen display makes it a thing to have quickly in own hands.
Chance to win for free on xda and the cameras I guess.

Note 9 or P20 Pro

Hi all i currently have a P20 Pro dual sim but i am bored with the current lack of roms etc and im think of selling and getting a Note 9.
Which is the best version (Snapdragon or Exynos) looks like Exynos after a quick look in the forum?
Buy a Snapdragon because he's a little bit faster and you will have better battery economy

get the exynos because there is a wider range of roms.
( dont think the guy that replied before me realises that)
plus only the n9600 snaldragon has the ability to be rooted the n960u and 960w are useless in that regards.
the exynos n960f /ds and n960n are the prefered devices for people that enjoy root.

yes
Have them both P20 pro & Note 9
I'm not that interested in Unlocking or installing roms on these devices .
I have the P20 Pro 6gb/128gb in use for some months now and last week i bought the Note 9 8gb/512gb Exynos.
When i compare these 2 phones they are both verry good phones i can get used to using any of these as a daily driver .
The only thing that makes me a littlebit worry is the camera .
In my opinion the P20 pro takes better shots but the Note 9 takes better video ..
For now i'l keep them both .
Here are some sample pics.

Get the n9600. It is simply the faster phone.
The exynos may have more custom roms to choose from but since they're all based off stock, they're all pretty much the same. You really need only one rom with one dedicated developer and we have that with @Mentalmuso and WETA rom.

yes he's a great dev no doubt.
but you forgot that AOSP/gsi roms exist... they are clearly not based off of stock...

I didn't forget them. All aosp roms are pretty much the same these days too. I just upgraded from the Zuk Z2 plus and we had about 10 pie roms to choose from. All great, but you can pretty much close your eyes and choose one and be good.
As for gsi I've never used it but i understand it to be pure android? If so no thanks. Why would anybody flash that and give up all the features of the note 9? I guess that goes for aosp based roms too. It only made sense on stock boring android but never on Samsung. The loss far outweighs the gains.

the goal of rooting always was about choice..so selecting the device that can give you the wider range of choice would make sense in my opinion....
It's also worth noting that the Exynos version has a slightly better DAC compared to Snapdragon. Good to know if you want quality sound out of it.

Firstly, the note 9 dev section is actually quite lonely - only one kernel, few ROMs and that's all. Secondly, the snapdragon variant is A LOT better vs the exynos in every regard - better battery life, faster CPU in real world, ~30% faster GPU on average, smoother UI (less frame drops), faster emulation on emulators. It's the better variant to get by far.

This is not that true anymore, qualcomm really improved their own DAC in the last two generations. There are enough materials on the web about exynos 9810 - go read Andrei's articles (anandtech) how to improve exynos 9810 (part 1 and part 2). Also his article with direct comparison between the two note 9 variants in real world/real tests not antutu etc. - the snapdragon note 9 makes a joke of the exynos versions. The difference is like high tier midrange device vs the highest tier device. It's not even close and buying the midrange device just because you have two more ROMs that are the same (flashing AOSP on note is absurd as you will give up all the features, you are better of with s9, BUT even then there are compromises like camera quality/features) - is a mistake. Yes, I have the exynos note 9 and while OK, I perfectly well understand and see how mediocre the SOC is, even the sd 835 beats it in some cases and it shows in real world usage.
I am saying all that with warmth of heart towards fellow xda member that can choose between the two variants.

I know right. Choosing an inferior variant solely because it has more of the same rom to flash is beyond crazy. I guess it's true you can only lead a horse to water.

Question Cameras in low light are really bad

Smudged detail, really not great. I had the find x5 pro for a while before returning it and there really is no comparison. Quite disappointed.

Really not sure about keeping the phone. On one hand I actually like the fake OxygenOS basically ColorOS. The phone software feels very very polished relative to other androids. Almost like a non buggy MIUI. But the PWM flicker is pretty bad.
Cameras seem fine in my limited testing. Although OnePlus has always taken a couple months to fix their cameras.
I've taken some great pics so far...as with any phone the situation sometimes requires you to alter some settings, that's what pro modes for.
This phone will come good, the hardwares just too good to not exploit with some good ROMs.
I was hesitant at first comparing it to my 8 pro but I'm so in now..

Totally agree!
in good light the camera is fine, it is medium to low light where I am seeing a drop off vs say the S22 or Pixel. For example seems pretty bad for smudging fur detail on pets.

Have you tried the other settings in manual mode ?
As a point and shoot it'll get better but if you expect the world without any work it's just not going to happen mate. Not Vs an S22. I mean that's an expensive phone, it should be better, the pixel is using the base software and it's Google again it should be better..
That being said I'm positive I can get better than any point and shoot camera phone with this phone
This camera has a lot of features, settings, and cool picture possibilities....Hasselblad ftw
What I have learnt from experience with phones is to now buy it for the camera , I will just get one mirror less camera which will last longer than any camera phones for a long time
I think it is only in comparison to the competition that it falls short. My torture test for any new phone is photos of our cats indoors and I am seeing more smudging and a less clwean image than the Pixel of S22 Ultra offers and yes I have owned both and still actually have the S22U.

Try some different settings. Smudges may occur due to HDR being on and a slight movement, could just be the software that OnePlus has made. It could just need a few updates which I'm sure may occur.
ISO could be too high too.
Use pro mode, set the shutter speed as low as possible Vs an ISO of 200-800, should help...find the sweet spot depending on the light you have.. it's manual but honestly my pics come out better when I have control. My DSLR I'd never let the camera choose for me..
There was a poll on phonearena with blind camera test (users were asked to vote for best picture of same scene clicked by S22, iPhone13 Pro, OP 10 Pro and Pixel 6 Pro without knowing which phone clicked which picture)... OP sucked major balls and came in last
I got my OP10 Pro today...anyway I did not buy it for camera

Again this is point and shoot.
Ask any actual photographer if they rely on automatic lens settings, the vast majority will say no they won't so why would you rely on it for your phone? They all have the capability yet we tend to believe some plum who's pointings and shooting? Makes no sense to me
I'm not saying that the results are incorrect as I've not used them phones, but relying on this test is testing one thing and that's the automatic settings chosen by the software on the phone.
That's it.
Give all these phones to a photographer and get them to use settings based on the scene they have Infront of them, then check the results, I think you'll see a different outcome
For the record I used to be a photographer for a living in a previous life. I almost always though just use my phone in auto mode as a point and shoot, have just never embraced manual mode (or even Av mode for that matter) on a phone.

I take a lot of astro photograph's, both with my DSLR / telescope and purpose built astro camera.. but also my phone.
I need to change some things when I take a night shot, especially of the sky.
I think if you give it a shot (no pun intended) you'll be surprised at the results.
it will take months before sensor potential is used at its fullest with Gcam, and everyone knows these have infinite issues with white balance etc for years, so those kind of flagships won't ever shoot close to what cheaper older flagships can already do after years of gcam configs development

I agree besides gcam, it's just unstable, things not working like wide angle, slow motion.
But for a point and shoot it's the simpler option.
I think Vs pro mode you'd get better on the stock app.
Defo agree on updates helping
oneplus explicitly stated they remove access to aux cameras in OOS12, no one pays flagship price for a point and shoot and nevermind what comes out at the end experience, u can do that on a 200$ Xiaomi and get 95% satisfaction for social media and casual browsing on large screens

Question No Xperia 10 IV forum on XDA?

Hi Guys,
Will there be an Xperia 10 IV forum on XDA? I have been using the phone about a month now, and keep checking here - but these is no such forum for the device on XDA.
Regards,
If it helps in any way, I rooted my 10 IV by following what this user did to their 1 IV.
I haven't installed a ton of modules though!
It won't be helpful, but I'm very tempted by this phone, so I wonder if you would have any feedback. In particular, is the camera ok ? Did you manage to install a working version of gcam ?

Yes I did! I tried out all of the versions found on the stable page, one or two would crash upon starting (can't remember which ones) but I settled for MSC's 8.1 apk since it had a toggle for ultrawide and option to use a third party gallery.
Here's two photos which are taken a few days apart (pre-root and post-root) - I can attest that the gCam is more color accurate based on my cat's fur, have to thank the Google AWB in the app for that

Though, the 8.1 apk is missing a normal x1 zoom toggle (only x0.6 and x2), will confirm in the future if I ever manage to get the time to try other versions again.
Thanks ! That's nice (almost as nice as your cat)
Did the gcam port work with the telephoto lens ? And more generally do you find the telephoto lens useful / of good quality ?

Thanks and yes! Out of the provided zoom toggles, I believe the x2 one uses the telephoto, so it has been my daily driver since rooting.
It's sufficiently sharp for my uses (in fact, the gCam photo above was taken using the telephoto). Here's two more shots I just took - one from 50cm, one from 20cm.
I do have to hold very still though! Of course, it's a telephoto, and that my room's not very well lit, but I expect it should work much easier in brighter situations.
Thanks for taking the time to share these pictures, this is really useful. Both pictures look quite sharp.
This xperia 10 iv seems to tick many boxes for me : reasonable size, good screen, great battery life, decent camera with telephoto... I'm still waiting to see the reviews of the Pixel 6a, but it's very tempting.

My pleasure! After my S9+ kicked the bucket, I was deciding between the 10 IV or the Pixel 5a as both had a headphone jack and a decent battery.
I ended up picking the 10 IV since it was newer, and that the battery seemed to last forever (which it does!).
You could also consider another upcoming alternative: the Zenfone 9. While the battery's smaller by 700 mAh and that there's no telephoto, it does seem very impressive for such a small package.
If modules are like on 10 iii, try whitelist 4th or 5th module in gcam settings, it's equivalent for 0th module.
Developer says he had to disable 0th module due to crashing on some sony phones.

Thanks for the tip, I tried this out on MSC's 8.1 and it actually revealed the normal camera! Well, I whitelisted both 4th and 5th modules, so x1.1 and x1.2 options appeared, but both appear to be at the same zoom level.
Does someone know if the 10 IV has fm tuner hardware inside? The app clearly is missing. Is it region dependent, meaning the radio functionality depends on the firmware, or region dependent meaning the hardware is different? Usually the fm tuner is part of the wifi/bt chip, which in this case it`s a qualcomm WCN3990, which the manufacturer states that it does have digital fm. Tried different radio aps(fm ones, not online), none worked, still don`t know what to think of this issue. Thanks!

Hi, I usually repair electronics in my free time, including fm transmitters, so yes, tried with the headphones plugged in . Also tried spirit radio and some other app I can`t remember right now, that are for this issue, not from play store, couldn`t find anything useful there. Still can`t tell if this phone has hardware for fm. To mention, I have not rooted the phone. Will wait & see . Other than this, nice battery time and pretty responsive device.
fyi - maybe we get a device section - at least I posted it here
I'm wondering does the 10 IV have any issues like it's predecessor (green/red tinted, flickering Screen)? Are there any other common issues.
Really considering buying it as the 10 III has these glaring display bugs unfortunately. But I wanna make sure the next phone I order isn't likely broken as well..
