[Q] Best way to create a bounty or ask a dev to help get an app working on lolipop?

Might sound silly but one of my favorite Android games (Jet Set Radio) was never updated to run on lollipop. Sega has instead just pulled the app from the market. The game starts to load but soon crashes. Without knowing anything about development i have a feeling the problem is probably not a serious one and a talented developer maybe able to get the .apk working again

sure, if Sega publicly puts up its source for the game. otherwise, no developer will ever touch it.

That. ^^^
Also, just don't. Don't start bounties, don't create pressure on a developer to do anything. If you want to see what is what, send them an email offering to pay them directly.
Also, if the program/game was popular and they pulled it, then it was probably more than trivial changes needed to make it work again.

Sega is just a terrible Mobile company. They recently pulled many titles some of which still work even without updates on lolipop.
I heard the Company as a whole is focusing more on mobile but with moves like this how? Unless they will rely on the strength of a few key titles (like SonicRush) and say screw the rest

Seems to be a little bit harsh. Not sure why you think that they would keep dumping resources into software that is EOL.

End of life? Some games they pulled were only released for mobile in the last 12-18 months. Unless this was a quick cash in deal on a few high profile games. Make a quick buck and than abandon the title when it comes time to needing an update

They pulled it from the app store for incompatibility issues. I followed a link saying "get it from play before it disappears" and I was able to install it.

You cannot root the snapdragon variant phones. Sorry, I take that back. You can root them but it breaks Knox, Samsung Pay, and a bunch of other stuff. It trips some sort of fuse.

Buy the Razer Phone 2. Right now it's cheaper than any of its competition and it has root. The Galaxy S10 is a pretty good phone now that I've had an opportunity to use it for games that won't run on rooted and unlocked devices (like Fate/GO)
Someone already got TWRP to boot on Exynos S10, this phone is too popular to not get root(Exynos bootloader unlocked models). It is a matter of time, I'd say within next few weeks one of the smart devs here will have root and within a month or two Magisk support as well.

The dev behind Magisk got an S10 already so I'd guess it shouldn't be long for Magisk to support the phones. And if TWRP is already sort of available I'd imagine we'll have root im worse case scenario at the end of April.

what happened to all the click to root apps? Would any work?

Title says is all really, pretty sure that the bootloader still needs unlocking, just I remember being able to root without unlocking the bootloader, without having TWRP /Clockwork mod in the past.
Tried a few of them with no luck, any way this can be done..
I've kind of given up on the bootloader unlock code and thus the ability to flash a rom (even though Huawei allowed this device to be treble compatible, evil bast****)
Would any exploits work?
Be good to at least get root on this crippled bloatfest excuse for an android device.

Yep I got that pal..
But you've missed the point.
Why?
Unlocking the bootloader was not always necessary.
Certain devices yes but how to know??
Installing TWRP to a partition is impossible without removing the checking system which is inherently what a locked bootloader brings.
But I'm not talking about that, nor am I talking about installing a custom ROM..
Only root, nothing more.

All the "click to root" apps were using certain exploits/privilege escalation vulnerabilities. With Android development those holes were patched by Google on Android level and by most OEMs on their custom versions level.

Honestly, OnePlus 7T pro, it's just a phenomenal phone, all the things im miss are just there and not a sniff of a company locking anything down.
It's butter smooth. I used my pro next to the 7t pro and honestly it's an incredible difference, it's like playing a game at 144hz for the first time, 60 just can't cut it ever again.
I'm going to let this can run down and get the 8, I usually upgrade 2-3 times a year but thought I'd give it a miss this year.. kind of glad I did but it's paining me now as my bootloader is screwed and there's only so much I can do without root.
I'd love to remove the swap memory (page file /zram) but I don't think it's possible.
Swap torpedo did this and the speed increase is amazing.
PS: I wouldn't bother with the S10 it's not as good as the oneplus devices tbh. S11 might compete but it's still Samsung so nah not for me.

Stopped playing around with root/android about 2 years ago. In fact, the last time I rooted a phone was on android 7... I like my banking apps running on my phone and really don't think rooting the phone has any advantages, but does add certain security concerns.

I use my banking apps with root.
Things I need.
Root access to files for tweaks.
Page file removal
Bloat removal
Ad removal ( I can't tell you how much I don't like adverts)
Mods that Devs miss (CRT animation, Audio Boost etc)
Custom ROMs: more efficient, faster, feature rich
Latest OS
Early releases
If I didn't mod my phone using root id be bored in weeks (which I am) or I'd buy an IPhone.
First works for me on root, I just agreed when the notification same up.
For the ones that don't, the mobile version of the web page works perfectly for me, dependent on bank of course.
The trade off just isn't worth it for me especially with emui which is abysmally tedious and something I'd love to just delete from history.

well i just looked up the maxlock module, the newest version it says it works on is oreo, thats a pretty old module to try to use on such a new device. My advice is to go download the factory boot image from google and factory reset it. Then after you flash your custom image/root take a backup before installing any modules

Question Need a custom rom for Oppo A74 5G

Android 12 preferably.
Would you say the A74 is worth the money? I've done a bit of reseach and found there is a lot of bloatware on the phone. It's easy removable or disable? I don't want to root the phone.
What's the reason you want to install custom software? I have rooted a long time ago but that was becaue a lot of cool functions years ago were not yet available on standard OS

A lot of the bloatware apps are removable minus some from Google and a few system apps such as App Market, Game Center, Hot Apps, Hot Games, Music Party, My OPPO, ORoaming, Phone Manager. I have installed over 130 apps and games including Call of Duty (1.8gb) and PES (1.9gb), and the phone has been very decent in terms of performance. No lag at all. So far so good, have not encountered a single issue with this phone.
The phone comes with Android 11, and the Android 12 update comes next month but I am just here looking for options.
