Is it possible to zoom WITHOUT using 2 fingers (pinch gesture) in camera app now? - Redmi K20 Pro / Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro Questions & Answe

I have read in youtube reviews that it is now possible to zoom with 1 finger (long press or double press on the viewfinder?)... I've been wanting the option to zoom with 1 finger, like a slide zoom that many other makers have implemented. but a press-and-hold is also acceptable.
Can anyone confirm if this is possible in the new K20 Pro?
(I have also read online that the K20 Pro's camera app now has 3 buttons in the viewfinder that allows you to choose between the ultra-wide, normal and zoom cameras, unlike the Mi9 which is too awkward. Wonderful!!)
thanks!

Does P20 Pro camera app have a selfie gesture?

I have never used a Huawei phone before. On my S8+ there is a selfie gesture option where I can raise my hand and the phone starts a countdown timer to click the photo. I am pretty bad at pressing volume buttons to trigger without fumbling the phone. So some form of remote shutter like gesture or voice-trigger will be great.

If you switch to the front camera then go to settings, you can enable "Audio control", so it takes photos when you say cheese. Also in there is "Capture smiles", that takes the photo when you smile.
A little tip for you - don't tell your three year old about saying cheese, otherwise you will have about 7,000 photos of a silly grin.
Great. Thank you for confirming.

EMUI 10 - Camera app - can no longer zoom by sliding over any side of viewfinder

Hi Guys,
in EMUI 9 it was possible to change zoom level by dragging/sliding your finger over any side of the camera screen -- i.e. not limited to the side which is showing the actual zoom control.
After flashing to EMUI 10, I can only zoom by dragging/sliding over the actual zoom control.
This is terrible because in the landscape mode, the zoom control is always displayed horizontally - and thus not reachable by with the same hand which is holding the phone (single-handed camera operation).
For me this basically kills the usability of this phone (and the upcoming P40) to the point when I'm not using it anymore as my primary. (There's always something else in my other hand, e.g. dog leashes.)
On S10+ the Camera is perfectly usable in landscape in single-handed mode (right hand).
Anyone else experiencing this? Any remedies?

Not sure if you have even read my post.
Try to pinch with the same hand that is holding the phone.

Please quit spamming thanks.
Even Oppo knows how to do it, they placed the zoom bar vertically in the landscape mode. So that it's reachable with SINGLE HAND.

P30 pro video zoom question

Hi everyone
I'm on the 10.1 update.
And Huawei's made it so once you start video recording you have to pinch to zoom in and out in gradual increments. Which I hate, because you get that pixelated ugliness just before you hit 5x zoom. Is there anyway to jump straight to wide, 1x, 5x and 10x zoom after you have started filming? Have they removed the option or am I missing something?
There is zoom slider in right side of the screen and by tapping those "bolded" dots will jump you straight to wide, 1x, 5x etc.

No you don't. You can't jump while recording. That's what he asks

Video zoom

Hi,
It's it possible to use the zoom continuously for video? So far zoom is showing a step by step incremental or decremental behaviour.
Yes You Can.....just Keep your finger on Current zoom position in camera app and Just Slide it left or Right without Lifting.....you will zoom in and zoom out continuously .

Question Couple of camera questions

In the camera app under settings there is an option to enable "Lens Package". Do you know what this is or does?
Sometimes while in Photo mode or Portrait mode, no matter what lens I choose (1x, 2x, 5x) it uses the 1x lens and I guess digitally zooms. I know this because when I tap on the info button inside Albums or directly from the camera app, the data shows 23mm aperture 1.57, 46mm aperture 1.57, 115mm aperture 1.57 for 1x, 2x, 5x. But if I switch to Pro and shoot the same 1x, 2x, 5x I get 23mm/f1.57, 50mm/f2.02 I think and 125mm/f3.4. But sometimes when using Photo/Portrait and selecting 1x, 2x, 5x it uses the proper lens. I'm just trying to understand why? Maybe with AI enabled for scene optimization it chooses the faster aperture lens and digitally zooms to allow for more light??
Any ideas or comments. Thanks!
Lens package is a shortcut to launch your camera with the selected filter/settings (e.g. Astro mode) straight from your app drawer/homescreen. You can turn it off, it will not remove those features from the camera app.
In pro mode, I believe the actual physical lens used is determined by the 4 icons used (telephoto, standard, medium telephoto, telephoto). From there you'll dial in your tweaks like aperture, shutter speed etc. Pinch zooming them in and out will digitally zoom your shot while using the selected lens. I verified this by physically covering each lens with my finger to see what lens it was using but I didn't take a shot to check the album details. Let me know if this helps
