To Flash the TWRP:
if it's the first time you flash the TWRP or you are getting problems of TWRP lost or device doesn't boot after flashed magisk or something else you need to flash a script to patch your vbmeta:

To flash the TWRP:

Then reboot in TWRP manually or using a fastboot command.

some user account can unlock the phone immediately,no need to wait 360 hours.

You need a higher grade Xiaomi account.

To work with this TWRP beside of unlockbootloader you must have deceipted phone

HOW TO UPDATE a ROM and KEEP TWRP and ROOT:
- Disable all magisk modules;
- Put rom.zip, twrp installer.zip and magisk.zip on your internal storage;
- Flash Rom;
- Flash TWRP Installer;
- Flash magisk;
- Reboot
- Wrappedkey support
- Android 10 Support
If you want you can also update a stock rom from phone settings with local upgrade:
- Update the Rom WITHOUT REBOOT;
- Open Magisk Manager;
- Menu/modules/+ button/select the twrp installer.zip and flash it;
- Always in Magisk Manager, click on Install/Install/Direct Install;
- Again in Magisk Manager, click on Install/Install/Inactive Slot;
- Reboot.
Tips:
If you alread have a twrp flashed you can only flash the new installer zip or the new installation method to update your TWRP (remember to flash again magisk or your system will not boot).
If you have some problems with backup, like 255 error or something similar please check this guide: https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6/how-to/255-error-twrp-backup-restore-999-t3801632
For the Bacups use always "system_image" and "vendor_image" instead of "system" and "vendor".

How did you flash it?
Give me more informations, decryption works? (are you able to see files in internal storage?) Vibration work? Are you able to flash magisk or others zips? You see some problems in the recovery.log? Some red write?

is the zenfone 6 an a/b slot device like the zenfone 5z? Do you have to set the slot with fastboot before flashing?

it seems to be an A/B device yes.

Most if not all new high-end phones are A/B phones now. Normally you don't have to specify the slot as it will just flash to the currently used one.

tried, can't get it to work. when I do the fastboot boot .img command, the phone reboots, showing the whole "bootloader is unlocked, press power to pause" screen, and then it goes back into fastboot, except now the device is frozen (it also vibrates after a few seconds, but nothing else, buttons don't do anything), and I have to use the reboot command to get back to where I started.
I did let the phone update when I got it the other day, not sure if that affects anything.

same here. I also updated the phone today before unlocking the bootloader, so probably twrp must be updated with new firmware

Hi, i have not the device and Teamwin Founder User (Dees Troy and Bigbiff) got the zenfone 6 from the developer programm, i think i will not update the twrp for now

and you have some advice to me to manage to install your twrp on my zenfone 6??? even with the new system update of asus

I can confirm it does not boot after the latest firmware-updates. If I used fastboot boot "recovery", I got the same result as @Tannuu had.
Is there already a TWRP-Version from @Dees_Troy or @bigbiff ? If you are working on it, it would be very nice, to let us know about the current status.

BIG thx for this TWRP, BUT ... seems like i did something wrong: today I got the unlock.img from lenovo, unlocked ok. I rebooted bootloader, came over here and installed vbmeta and your TWRP, without any errors. Then tried to reboot TWRP manually and suddenly there's this startup warning about "unsafe", then a Lenovo sign comes up for a few seconds, followed by another Lenovo in a red field...and thats it, nothing boots up, tried several times. I can still enter fastboot or your TWRP, but TWRP has no ADB-communication so no sideload...and still no possibility to boot. Any ideas to get the system working? Thx...

Started twrp, mounted partitions and tried flashing latest stable but twrp stopped with error 1 "! cannot mount /system" ... ?

Why you mounted the partitions? Don't do that, just reboot in twrp and flash magisk

Thought to mount partitions would be ok...but grazie MILLE: just flashed without mounts and it worked. Now I'm waiting on it finishing boot, for 15 minutes now

DON'T FLASH THE TWRP, please only boot it for now

I tried to boot it, but it stays stuck at the fastboot mode screen. Never boots into twrp.

I don't know what to say, @Fentadroid is able to boot it without problems, he tried also magisk flash

How is this possible if no one is able to unlock their bootloader yet? ?

Sorry. Still no luck. I left it on the fastboot mode message for a long time and it never booted in twrp.
I'm on the 8 Pro. Was it tested on the 8 and 8 Pro?

People on the t mobile varient are unable to unlock the bootloader. The international one plus 8 bought from one plus can be done easily enough.

It's a testing feature, for now i blocked this function because after flashed the rom the device is not able to boot, seems that there are some problems modifying super partition.

Good to see some progress.
Im hoping its not that dificult to fix decryption as Chinese devs did it. But they are not very good for not uploading source otherwise TeamWin and you cold have worked with them if they got some parts working.

Seeing as you know a little about twrp, why not reach out to the author of the Chinese one and get ported?
I've read that it's working so could skip a lot of the groundwork.

Team Win Recovery Project 3.x, or twrp3 for short, is a custom recovery built with ease of use and customization in mind. Its a fully touch driven user interface no more volume rocker or power buttons to mash. The GUI is also fully XML driven and completely theme-able. You can change just about every aspect of the look and feel.
Current status
Working :
- TWRP boots
- /data decryption is working
- system and vendor partitions are mountable but you can't modify them
- You can flash magisk and modules, or custom kernel (if that's even exists since our kernel source is total mess and broken)
- Flashing stock rom.ozip works
Not working :
- USB OTG works now
- Partition formatting doesn't works (upstream)
Installation
Direct booting (fastboot boot twrp.img) is not possible, so we just have to flash it like normal
1. Disable verified boot first

I am using rmx 2061_11_A17. Will this flashing of twrp cause any bootloop or damage to the phone? I've already unlocked the bootloader

I've flashed both files successfully. But when applying 'fastboot reboot recovery' command doesn't work when I manually go to recovery, I'm entering to the normal recovery everytime.

I don't get what are you trying to say, if you already flash twrp but still got a stock recovery, then you didn't flash it properly.

Ah it sucks that twrp hurdles with A10 hasn't been solved yet. 7 months already.

Wait is fastboot reboot recovery even a valid command? Wasn't it adb reboot recovery and fastboot reboot. If you are booting into stock recovery that means twrp isn't flashed properly.

Read the first post, system/vendor is mountable but you can't modify them (which means read-only).
That's how Android 10 dynamic partition works, it'll fail if you try to mount system as read/write.
Why ? because the system and vendor partition is just a logical partition under the big volume called "super" partition. and generally, it has no reserved space at all to ensure that partitions aren't wasting space and are allocated to a minimum possible size.

The only way to do it is via magisk, create your own modules.

Because it is build from the source, you'll get the whole super partition that can be flashed to the device.

Yes, overlayfs is a thing, just like how magisk works systemlessly.
If you don't like it, blame Google and buy devices that comes with Android 9.

Nah, you don't have to reflash twrp.
Recovery will be replaced by the system if you start booting a system that didn't yet patched.

Do you think we can flash and boot A10 gsis with it despite the twrp and A10 condition currently?
Also i've read in Oneplus 8 twrp thread that the best way to backup currently is using img format, is it also true on this build?

GSI ? Idk, I'm not interested in that.
Backing up the ROM ?
You can backup super partition because both system and vendor are inside of it,
but also you have to backup the vbmeta_system and vbmeta_vendor too, I'll make an another build that can backup both vbmetas.
