Mi Max 2 [Oxygen ] GSI Bootable Vendor & Modified Boot Image ( Flashable) - Xiaomi Mi Max 2 ROMs, Kernels, Recoveries, & Othe

Android Version : 9/10 Modified Flashable Boot & Vender.
You should be having proper knowledge of flashing Custom ROM and how to Restore a phone if anything goes wrong.
Take complete backup before taking any action based on this thread. I am not responsible for any action taken by you.
All Credit goes to respective developer/s. I request XDA moderator and or Developer of Respective files to let me know if I have forgotten to mentioned (give credit) their name in this thread. The Download Links are given directly from respective Developer/s.
You need the following three files to Test GSI s on Mi Max 2 (Oxygen). This is ported/Made with many patches and customized from various sources. Most GSI maybe Stable enough for your daily use on Mi Max 2.
1a. Treble Mi Max 2 Recovery 3.2.1 https://drive.google.com/file/d/171xg-c57grzI_eaguBRd5BBMMRfDEb18/view?usp=drivesdk
1b. OrangeFox Recover 10
I do not recommend as it likes to mess with the already modified boot & vendor.
2. GSI-Vendor-Boot-Oxygen-Hillbilly-Patched-For-MM2-Oxygen-By-liammc.zip
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1716FYaRjtrg2mQoOuFAZbjI7weFcGTHi/view?usp=drivesdk
3. Any ARM 64 General System Image A ONLY.
https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/gsi/
Or
https://github.com/phhusson/treble_experimentations/wiki/Generic-System-Image-(GSI)-list
I have test over 90% of available GSI and all are booting.
First step:
Start your phone into recovery and Flash a Treble recovery, if already not flashed. Restart into Recovery.
Click Wipe then Advance wipe and clear System, Vendor, Boot, Cache, and Dalvick cache.
Second Step:
Selecting Wipe > Format data and then typing yes.
Third step:
Flash GSI-Vendor-Boot-Oxygen-Hillbilly-Patched-For-MM2-Oxygen-By-liammc.zip
Fourth step:
Using the GSI of your choice,
Tap on “Install
Change the type from “zip” to “image.”
Find and select the GSI you downloaded.
Choose to flash to the system partition.
Once that is done, reboot your device directly back into recovery.
Fifth Step:
Tap wipe > Advanced Wipe > Click the box next to system> tap "Repair or change file system" > Tap resize file system.
Sometimes it doesn't work and throws and error. The first time, Just reboot back into recovery and do it again and it will.
Depending on which GSI you may want to flash gapps, which can be flashed anytime.
Then reboot into system.
No need to flash root as all is included, Just connect to the internet and load up magisk.
In most cases
please allow 1-5 Minutes for first boot.
If I missed anything in the above, kindly let me know to include. If you make any further updates / patches that makes this more stable / perfect or enables new features, please don't hesitate to message me to include in this thread.
I have an old PC running windows with 8gb max HDD at any one given time, And working on many projects. If you can afford it, Im trying to save for a used computer from this decade, any help is appreciated

If you would like to use the boot, vendor, system, or any other files, All I ask is pass on the proper credits.
Best of Luck and Happy Flashing )

Dependson which GSI you chose, But most will, as long as the GSI doesn't have gapps incorporated.

Gsi or general system images are the future. No more waiting for custom ROMs, or ports, IF the source and gsi is created properly.
As long as it's arm 64 a only, most will work depending on the source created.
So far oxygenos is having great reviews including supporting jio volte, ect.

What the difference between Aonly and AB GSI images?

As I understand For Xiaomi Mi Max 2 we need to use Aonly GSI images

Well it defiantly works.
You flash the hillbilly vender & boot zip ?
You format data, not wipe, but format ?
You resize system partition ?
You don't flash magisk, a modified version is included.

Do a full wipe in the Recovery (Google it) and flash the Miui Zip from the OP. Done.
I'll give it a try now... MIUI is the only OEM System that i would prefer over AOSP. At least if its based on a actual Android Version (Oreo was a Pain compared to Pie). Thanks God is Pie finally coming... Thanks for sharing!

Hey Guys.
This is a pretty stable rom. Flashed it yesterday and everything is working just fine.. Just follow the usual steps. (Assuming that you guys have a custom recovery.)
1, as per the OP, if u r coming from Miui global, just flash this over but if u r coming from custom Pie rooms, you need to do an advanced wipe from recovery. Wipe System, Data, Cache, Vendor.
Note: there is no need to wipe internal storage.
2, flash the rom but don't boot immediately. Flash the universal deScript file if you wish to maintain decrypted state. And then reboot
3, Set things up and flash magisk to root. Works perfect too.
P.S If you do not have a custom recovery, you would have to backup internal storage because updating through Xiaomi's recovery is bound to wipe everything.
Cheers.

Please use this only if your phone was already decrypted. If it was not, then this file is useless. You would have to wipe internal storage, then flash rom and then flash this DecScript.

Wiping internal will not do the trick alone. Would be the best to format data right!? (Includes /data and internal)
Wiping internal will not do the trick alone. Would be the best to format data right!? (Includes /data and internal)[/QUOTE]
Yes of course. Wiping the other partitions is something necessary by default. The requirement of wiping internal storage is dependant on whether your phone is in an encrypted or decrypted state. If you are not sure whether it is in either of the states, or if u r not sure what these things mean, ur phone is likely to be encrypted. So formatting all partitions and then following my instructions would solve any problems.
P.S.. The orangefox recovery is a good recovery to flash the rom.
9.5.8 pie for mix2 has a lot of problems, if not necessary, do not flash, I warned, but if 9.5.9 is stable at a certain level, the problem is small, works well, waiting for a long time, leaving beta to the public. Or who wants to test it
Today 9.5.9 pie for Mix2 is officially released. Can load and test now, no need to fix it, fhash can be both recovery mode and fastboot rom works well

I believe gsi rom is much better than stock rom for our device as I'm using stock global rom and encounter lot of bugs and the only thing that make me happy is game space. Thanks!

This Friday hope I will be testing maximum no. of GSI image and will be posting which boots and working better for Redmagic 3 in a separated thread for discussion with the community.
Also will backup such as Game launcher, LED Strip and other important app using titanium backup and will try to install as system to check if they are working or not.
Just flash the Chinese rom then flash TWRP and then go here https://forum.xda-developers.com/project-treble/trebleenabled-device-development and pick any rom you want some of them even have GAPPS included
---------- Post added at 04:37 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:31 PM ----------
If you're having trouble with GAPPS follow this steps
1) Boot into TWRP
2) Flash latest GSI img
3) Resize system file system (necessary on my device otherwise gapps will not install)
- Wipe -> Advanced -> select system -> resize file system
4) Flash pico or mini or aroma which ever you want gapps zip
6) Flash magisk zip
7) reboot
every (gsi) rom i've tried so far(various versions of resurrection remix, lineage, android 9 AOSP) has gotten stuck at the boot animation, tried pretty much everything i could think of(with a lot of getting stuck at the bootloader as a result)
for twrp i followed standard guides and the guides posted here, no errors, just gets stuck at the boot animation(i've waited for up to 2 hours to see if it might still continue)
anyone have any idea what could be going wrong?

I've successfully installed aosp 9 (phhusson), havoc 2.9 & 3 on my phone.
Here's some step that i take:
1. Install Chinese rom
2. Reboot to stock recovery wipe userdata & cache
3. Install twrp
4. Flash system image from twrp (always use a/b image)
5. Resize filesystem
6. Flash gapps & magisk
The phone should reboot once on the 1st boot and then boot normaly on the 2nd, you will know you've succeeded if the screen become dim at booting. That should take only a couple minutes, not hours. If that didn't happen try to format data from twrp or use different rom (i found that aex didn't work on my phone)
Hope this help :good:

Hi. I tried the phhusson 10.0 V203. It worked and it booted. I used ARM64 AB image. Everything was working fine, except i was unable to make any outgoing calls. So i tried to use a different image. After that nothing is working. Even the image that worked the first time doesn't work. It keeps getting stuck in boot loop and going to fastboot. I tried with 4 GSI images, nothing is working.

I've reverted my phone back to cn rom soon after because of the strange vibration bug on every single gsi rom i've tested and forgot to take stock rom system dump at that time so i never got any chance to try it.
But i've tried to install gamespaces stuff to my other phone running aex pie with no avail. So, unless anyone know how to mod the app or port the necessary framework stuff from stock into gsi rom I think it will never work.
Maybe some overlay will make it work. i don't know, just guessing.

If you stuck on fastboot after splash screen (without boot animation) then you have to use the unbrick tool to flash over the system and redo it if you want to. Never reboot without system on this phone or you'll stuck on fastboot.
But if it got bootloop at booting screen and able to enter twrp then you can try to wipe or format data. It happens on my phone too. I don't know if the twrp was buggy or something but yeah just try it back and forth between wiping and formating then it will randomly fixed.
Red magic 3 treble
That's the thing with this phone. Everything is random. I did use the repair tool and flashed the latest global version. But I am unable to flash the gsi again. It keeps getting stuck in fastboot screen. But if I select recovery from fastboot. It does goes to twrp recovery. But nothing after that. I hope someone can make a custom rom with Nubia launcher.
Red magic NEEDS to provide us with fastboot images...We have no real way to recover from a semi brick WTF!

I'm on havoc 2.9 right now. I managed to install game space and run it but it doesn't activate fan, so I'm guessing it need permissions and framework files which I don't know it's file name so I just give up on this. But game space does run like normal app. If you are wondering how I install game space, I pull out game space apk from global system.bat.br (after converted it to system.img) and put the apk in system/app using twrp file manager. Maybe someone knowledgeable can figure this out.

How come the flashing instructions require flashing Beta/RRR/TWRP so many times with so many reboots between? And formatting data etc after flashing?

Has anyone else had success with flashing the ROM as per OP instructions? Running OB13 just want to confirm the instructions work

I tried by myself bro. It is the only way to successfull flash.

Thanks for the heads up. Maybe the ROM will get a proper/official thread from the device maintainer.
FYI: You might want to edit or delete your first screenshot as it shows your phone and IMEI numbers.
I don't think the device will boot after formatting data partition!

Where is source code for rom??
This thread will be closed...read the rules for posting new thread on this forum...you must have link to source code of the rom...Its nice that you want to share that RR is out for OP7pro, but this is not a way to do that
you are not a developer of this rom, so you dont have permision to post it here..
And second, your flashing instruction are too confusing, i seriosly doubt that you must be on beta OOS to flash RR.

You are wrong buddy.
1. I installed on top of the stable OOS.
2. No need of flashing the ROM 2 times, once is fine and no need to wipe data after flashing OOS.
3. if anyone is decrypted no need of formatting data, wiping data is fine.
How is the vibration, brightness and fp speed?

All are working fine. But i felt that vibration is high. I mean vibration strength is much higher than Oxygen OS. This is only my opinion.
You know there's a section for this, its called Guides , NEWS and Discussion
just curious is the FP is gonna flicking the screen while unlocking? or is not because i don't really like the flicking screen during the unlocking process

Flashing GSI image bootloops the device

I have been using custom roms for years.
I wanted to try flashing GSI images, and i decided to start with Havoc-OS-v4.4-20210503-arm64-a-Official-vanilla.img
I installed twrp-3.5.2_9-0-z2_row
I completely wiped everything, system/cache/data etc.
I flashed Havoc-OS-v4.4-20210503-arm64-a-Official-vanilla.img then NikGapps-basic-arm64-11-20210514-signed.zip.
Rebooted.
Phone is instantly resetting right after the ZUK logo goes away. stuck in boot loop. Am i doing something wrong ?

Can you send me the link of the thread where you saw your rom?. Pretty sure theres a tutorial in it.. You are missing some important step like flashing create vendor.zip or repartitioner.zip and some other stuff.. Give me the link...

Your question is a bit weird because this is a GSI. it's not model specific and should apply to things treble.
So it's not "my rom" it's just a gsi rom that should just work, right ? (unless i did something wrong)
Procedure was standard, clean, no dirty flashing.
Flash img, then gapps, then reboot.
I remember the instructions were for an older version of havoc, i just took the latest build because that's what you usually do ???
Regardless, this is not a HAVOC issue, I later tried with caos build caos-v307-210507-arm64-agZ.img. The exact same behavior happened.

to flash a GSI image first you should wipe all except internal storage.
then install a Vendor ie; Basic roms like AEX, ARROW OS according to the GSI Version
if you GSI image is based on Android 10 then you should flash a android 10 rom from aex or arrow, then flash the gsi to system, then reboot

So, the gsi flashing just copies the image-byte-by-byte to the /system partition ?
Just like dd on linux ? Blind transfer from one direction to the other ?Is this why you recommend flashing "basic roms", so that by flashing the zips all other partitions are updated accordingly ? like /vendor and so on ?Please clarify and keep it technical, i want to learn

Well, Ok but where do i find android 11 opengapps ?
I didn't find any other gapps for Android 11.
However I tried your method even if it makes absolutely no sense at all. This device is a-only not a/b. Can you explain that or is that an elephant in the room that you dont want to talk about ?
In any case, the device does not bootloop anymore, it just sits in fastboot mode.
These are the steps to flash a gsi on zuk z2 pro correctly:
Wipe clean all partitions excluding user data
Then flash https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/radio-modem-basebands-for-zuk-z2-pro-only.3715835/ latest baseband
Flash boot image [ linked below - it is the boot image extracted from a mokee 9.0 rom ]
flash vendor image [ copied from another thread ]
flash gsi image [which ever you want]
reboot to recovery again [ sometimes it doesnt work unless you do ]
reboot to system

by flashing gsi no vendor is updated or modified. because gsi's are generic rom with only system image, no other partitions. so flashing a basic rom (especially made for your device) , that will update every partition, and then replacing system by gsi system thats all.

Thank you, I figured as much as I did a lot of testing trial and error and flashed lots of files yesterday. Got it working booting etc. Unfortunately the ROMs don't support fingerprint scanner out of the box and didn't bother to make it work. Just wanted something stable to use my phone. Thx

Any will work. I personally use crdroid since it is lightweight, has good performance, and has a lot of customizations. Use soulr344's twrp and use the built in super cmd to flash. Then flash Multidisabler, null vbmeta and magisk.
Use this build: https://github.com/eremitein/treble-patches/wiki/crDRom11-Project
Also don't plug in charger while power off, it will become stuck on boot screen. Use vol down+ power to reboot if that happens. Also DONT install hktweaks and overclock/underclock, it will cause random reboot

thanks bro ,
I dont have null vbmeta though, can you post link for null vbmeta if possible and the sequence of flashing the files as per your opinion.
I am downloading ( crdrom-v313-210921-arm64-BvZ-lite.img.xz ) for M215G (Galaxy M21 2021 Edition)

I tried to flash another lineage GSI for android 11-> LirRMod ( lir-v313-210915-arm64-bvZ-lite.img) but failed so. Thanks in advance bro

Yes... I failed many times, but it is all about the null vbmeta. That only disables dm-verity. I made this vbmeta flasher myself, bc no other existed.
Order-
1. WIpe data and reboot to recovery
2. Plugin to pc and transfer gsi image, vbmeta zip, multidisabler, and magisk(optional) to documents folder.
3. Go to terminal
4. Type the following cmds one by one
cd sdcard
cd documents
super mount system
super flash system [Name-of-the-image].img
5. Flash vbmeta
6. Flash multidisabler
7. Flash magisk(again, optional)
8. Flash custom kernel if u want( I recommend PrishKernel)
9. Reboot to system and enjoy.
Bro thanks so much, I will try your steps and tell you what happens ok

Thanks bro, finally CRD managed to boot , I flashed stock rom then after that I followed your steps and it booted! . You saved my life bro coz GSI flashing guide on xda looked very complicated to me.
You said you made the vbmeta file on your own so you should be senior member in xda not new member XD . If you have donate button then pls post coz you & CrD deserve some donations. Thanks a lot
Can you also make vbmeta for Redmi Note 10 Mojito? Pls Pls

Just a few clarifications:
1. I only made the flasher zip for the vbmeta. The image itself - was provided by google.
2. This zip should and will probably work on all phones, except maybe a few with weird vbmeta partition name( samsung vbmeta partition name is actually vbmeta_samsung instead of vbmeta only, and I think LG does the same too).
If it does not work( shows failed msg ) then send me the link of that device's twrp. I will maybe make an update if i find time.

Also, I'm just 13 yo as of now, so no donation for me. However, if u want to donate to crd, follow these two links:
https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/crdroidandroid -For crDroid themselves
For the guy who built the GSI, there seems to be no donate button.
Also, I saw ur post asking question about how M215G is different. Actually it is same, and remember - fastboot can never be installed on samsung. Also, turn off auto reboot when flashing twrp with odin, then hold down vol down+power for 7 secs until it reboots, then immediately press vol up+power. After this, wipe data and flash ROM.
If u reboot back to system without flashing multidisabler/rom, twrp will automatically be replaced with stock recovery. Hope this helps.

Thanks bro, I am surprised how all the developers I came across are 13 year old
Wish you luck bro
CrDroid is good but I think ROMs are better than GSIs, for example -
1. CrDroid GSI has issue with MTP, device not getting recognized by PC! but inside TWRP I can transfer files from pc to Internal Storage
2. Also 3-button NavBar background is opaque not transparent so NavBar takes up 10% of the screen, gesture is fine but navbar is very handy.
I did not find any CrDroid vanilla version

Actually, one guy Daniel on telegram built a crdroid 11 rom(not gsi) for m21, however last I checked, it did not boot and booted into fastboot(pls don't ban me lol).
The dev said it was a DT(device tree) bug and that the fix wud take time.
And since there was more trolling than development happening in that group, I exited it.
Once it boots, it wud probably be posted under roms, so no need to join that toxic group as of now

I just wanted to say that if you're in android 11, you can flash the GSI image directly to system. Use TWRP 3.5.1 v3
Wipe data ( If you want to decrypt internal storage, flash multi disabler and format data )
Flash GSI
Flash dmverity disabler or magisk

Hi Fredin bro, long time ..how you been? Youre the most helpful nice guy in t.me
My Redmi Note 10 came with MiUi 12.5.1 Android 11 out of the box, in these two months that ive been using Nebrassy2-Twrp and its different than Soulr344-Twrp, (Soulr344-Twrp 'super ' command = Nebrassy2-Twrp '#su' command), I couldnt flash GSIs using ( TWRP-3.5.2-mojito-Nebrassy-2.img ) so far.
Ive requested Soulr344 dev to make Soulr344-Twrp for RN10 Mojito/Sunny. If he ever drops by XDA perhaps he might notice.
