koo and 5g - Samsung Galaxy S10 5G Questions & Answers

Do you need a Korean sim for the KOO 5g to be enabled?

Im also curious. Ive got note 10 plus 5g from LUC, switched CSC to KOO, but 5g still connects for 1 sec and then switches back on to lte.. weird

I had to root my phone and then manually change mps_code.dat located in efs/imai from LUC to KOO.

Buying a different version device. No other way.
you can activate by contacting your provider, and asking them to activate your 5G capabilities. A $10(per month) charge will appear on your bill. The 5G display on top of phone will appear when the area you are in an area(only a limited number of cities) that has 5G. Your phone will automatically change back and forth.

Question Mi 11 ultra no 5G cellular network [ stock global ]

Hello everyone,
I've just upgrade my plan to have 5G support, but the phone does't pick it up ( the carrier says it's ok )..
I also searched manually for networks and I find every network even from other provider but NOT a single one with 5G.
obviously I am in a 5G area, center of Milan, and sim slot 1 ( but I recall that was dual 5G, no? )
It's a bug, broken or I played with some setting disabling 5G?
thanks
EDIT: SEEMS LIKE THAT switching preferred types, airplane mode, while outdoor made the phone to connect t o a 5G antenna...
funny note, it's slower that 3g: 5.69mps/0.59mbps
Might need to enable it

you mean preferred network type? always been in 5G
Try to reset apn configuration and all kind of connection, then switch off the phone for 1 minute and reswitch it on

If you have the chinese model (not EU or global) you might have some 5G band limitations, and it's also to be taken into consideration which bands your operator is using in your area.

Question SM-G998B no carrier aggregation, help needed

So i bought a sm-g998b (s21 ultra) from australia (telstra) and came to estonia, and here i dont have any carrier aggregation, volte, vowifi, doesnt work, no 4.5g, no 5g, i tried switching bands to european but it says unsuccesful with all of the bands, is there a solution for my problem? eg changing out the firmware or something else?
Everything is absolutely normal - a quick Google search would have told you the same.
Estonia doesn't have a 4G network (*country coverage is approx 2% for 4G).
- You'll have a few 4G cells in the center of Talinn
- Since 3G doesn't have VoLTE (LTE=4G), everything is in order.
- VoWIFI won't work either, because *most* of the time, the wifi network must be on your carrier broadband box.

You're wrong. Even your link shows, that the coverage percentage is definitely higher than 2%, in addition to the fact that this map only contains community-provided data, which might not cover all areas.
All 3 telcos in Estonia have about 99% of coverage of the whole country, two of which (Telia and Elisa) also support VoLTE for certain phones and Telia (also building 5G using DSS) supports VoWiFi.
You can take a look at CellMapper [1] and see, how many 4G towers there actually are in Estonia.

To OP: Are you roaming or using a local SIM card?

you are completely wrong, estonia have had 4g+(lte-a) since 2011-2012 and coverage is 99.9% of the whole country, i have had volte and 4g+ work on my xperia xz3 since 2012-2013, i have local sim btw, i am from estonia, 2% can be for 5g rollout but thats not the issue right now, issue is i dont have any carrier aggregation on my s21 ultra and on my gfs s20 ultra, i have mine flashed with odin to SEB latest firmware but that did not resolve the issue, when i go into mobile data service menu it only shows one tower connected there and i already talked with my service provider they said that i should have at least 13 masts covering my location with perfect visiblity + all bands covered so i should be getting at least 6-800mbps (according to their test they ran on my location, yes my isp is doing tests on actual on site locations to help clients), so if anyone has any ideas as what could be wrong or should i flash any other rom on it or something? i am out of ideas, i though firmware flash would fix my issue

Question 5G not enabled by default

Hi there,
I apologize in advance if the question has already been answered. I searched but found nothing.
And I apologize for my English, I'm French Canadian.
I bought a OnePlus 10 Pro 12gb/256gb, model NE2213 last week.
Everything works fine except for 5G. I only have 4G (LTE) by default but with the 5G settings app I can select the NR option to enable 5G. Everything works fine and I can use 5G without any problems.
When I restart my cell, I again come across the 2G/3G/4G option only, no 5G.
The option seems to be there and functional but it does not seem to be activated by default.
Is there a solution for this?
Thanks a lot !!

Besides your APN there's not a huge amount you can do.
Is your phone an actual NE2213 or has it been converted?
If it's the latter then that could explain things..
Thanks for your answer!
This is an original NE2213 model purchased from a Canadian website. It was 30% cheaper than the North American model and I read on the internet that the bands were compatible with 5G.
It's not the end of the world because 5G is not really deployed here in Canada but I don't understand why I can activate it via the 5G settings app but when the device restarts it seems to be desactivate.

Oh ok, crazy, an EU device being sold from a Canadian resupplied does shout region change to me and would explain things..
Are you based in the EU?
No, I live in Canada and I'm on the Bell Mobility network which uses the n66 and n78 bands for 5G.
This website sells different cell phone models less available in Canada (OnePlus, Xiaomi, etc.) but sells Chinese or international versions.
Like I say I can live with it, 4G is as fast as 5G here for now, but I was wondering if there is a solution to enable 5G directly on boot.
Fun fact, when I set up the cell for the first time, it was showing 5G in the top right but when I was done with my setup and turned off the wi-fi it was rendering 4G and i can't choose 5G in the network options.

Just out of curiosity, what's your expected speeds on 5G and what are you getting on 4G..I don't use 5G on purpose. I simply don't need it as 4G gives my 250Mb +
Anyone who needs more then that needs a PC
I did a live test...
5G: 69/3 Mbps (d/u)
4G: 56/5 Mbps (d/u)
I'm at home and wifi is off.
Basicallyt, not a big difference, I'm going out today and redo a test to see if the speed is really different.
Do another test outside of my home...
4g : 61/24 Mbps
5g : 141/44 Mbps.
Big difference this time!

Google be your area, but I'm not sure.
Can you force it with the engineering code?

Ok, to enter the EngineerMode you have to press *#899#, but i only have this printscreen when arriving in the menu, I do not see any option to modify the frequency bands.

No 5G with Bouygues Telecom (via MVNO) in France on SM-G781U1

Hi everyone,
I've received my new SIM for a 130GB-per-month 5G data plan with Bouygues Telecom by way of MVNO NRJ Mobile, but the phone remains stuck on LTE.
I've tried to change network settings (going from GLOBAL to 5G/4G automatic, and back, to no avail.
I bought this phone new from Rakuten, and I understand its ROM was designed for US carriers (unlocked), but I thought that once properly set, I'd get access to the Bouygues Telecom 5G network anyway.
What am I missing here?

What you're missing is a phone that can handle international 5G bands. The U.S. version uses different 5G bands.
Hi, and thanks for the quick reply. Can I flash a different ROM on this phone, or is it that the 5G modem can't accomodate French 5G bands?
