Xperia T stock ROM Camera issues JB 4.1.2

Dear all, I have recently bought 2 Xperia T's one for my wife and another for my mother (they both seem to have the same issue).
They are currently running the most recent stock ROM 4.1.2, not rooted just how it came from the box with one big update to 4.1.2.
I have read in many reviews that the camera was good, at least better than the one in Galaxy Note (N7000) or Galaxy S2, nevertheless when I compare the pictures, specially in lower light (just not the ideal, in doors with some light) scenarios they are all extremely blurred.
Am I doing something wrong? I use the 2 stage button to take the pictures, press it a little bit to get it to focus and then I press it a little more to take the picture.
When comparing the pictures in the same conditions, my Galaxy Note 1 does a better job, which is a pity as one of the selling points for my wife was the 13Mgpx camera.
If anyone could help me I would greatly appreciate it.
Many thanks in advance for all your input.

Thanks for the reply. What should I put? Normal or something else?
Another thing I always use the 9Mgpx settings as it gives the 16:9 instead of 4:3 with 13Mgpx.
Just try with different settings. Its just like any camera, you need the correct setting for the picture you are taking. Superior auto sort of just takes a best guess and is good for quick snaps, but if you want a decent photo then you have to go through the settings and set it up as you want it.
There is a thread in the general section about how to take decent photos, just search for it.
@Johev if you find the thread about good camera settings please share it with me also, I googled but didn't find (found similar threads but for other phones )
thanks bye!

Hi @moly82, I have found the thread and it was somewhat useful.
Please see here
As for the summary of the advice is not to use the automatic settings, and to use normal settings with image stabilization ON (it is off be default) and sometimes you can play with ISO, etc.
I did try it and it seemed to improve the pictures so far, nevertheless have 2 complaints:
1) You need to know what you are doing, like for example my wife does not care what the settings are, just wants the pictures to look well. On my Galaxy Note 1 the N7000 or on the Galaxy S2 the pictures on default settings look better.
2) There is no way that I could find to have the default settings in the camera be Normal instead of the automatic [iCamera picture] ones. Which means that after you press the camera button to launch the camera application, you first need to change the settings and only than you can start taking pictures. This every time you launch the camera.
If anyone knows how to change the last point I would be grateful, as I am tiered of hearing that her old Xperia Ray took better pictures than the Xperia T.

Camera

PLease someone mod the lollipop camera to work as kitkat camera and make it also 5MP please request :crying:
I'd like to correct you here. Any camera app, as far as I know can't change your camera to 5MP unless that's what the hardware is inside the phone. The best any app can do is just help you adjust finer details and get nicer effects. That's it.
Lollipop is just a software update not hardware !! The camera is just as good as seen on kitkat. If you are facing any problem try to reflash the ROM or try any third party camera app as there are many available.

Nokia 7 Plus, A few Questions

Hi All,
Newbie here so please be gentle with me, love the look of this fourm so thought I would join in!
I purchased the Nokia 7 Plus here in the UK (TA-1055 model) about a week ago and I am very happy with it, I do have a few questions tho...
What does it mean by unlocking the bootloader? what does this do and what can you do once you have done this?
Is it really worth using the google camera app instead of the stock Nokia camera app?
Other tips on getting more battery life (not that I run out, just curious as to what settings you can change)
Also I am not getting the notification dots come up on any apps and the notification dot settings is set to on
Look forward to hearing your wise words!
I have the same model.
Unlocking bootloader is necessary to make root access workable and change ROMs etc. If you don't know what that means then don't bother with it
Yes it's really worth to use Google Camera app for normal photos (not videos). The difference is unbelievable. Use APK and settings from here https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=76834155&postcount=267
Don't know how you can improve battery life (never bother with this, Android does this automatically) and get your notification dots working (notification dots need special permissions if you use another launcher).

Hi mate,
Thanks for your reply, dont think I will bother with the bootloader stuff as sounds too complicated for me lol.
Ok thats great will try that camera app! and how come dont use it for videos? I have just upgraded to this phone from a Moto G4+ and was seriously considering swapping this for a Moto G6 plus but really want to give this phone a chance! as i do like it!
And as for notification dots I managed to sort that in the special permissions settings by turning on launcher 3!
Video will not work well with Pixel camera because mainly of sound. The Nokia uses a special sound system with several mics called Ozo Sound. So it's best to use it with the Nokia camera itself.
Ok thanks, and is the sound quality noticeable when playing the video back on the phone or on a pc?
And not sure if this is something I can change in settings but the gcam won't zoom in when I want to take a photo is this right?
I think noticeable on both.
There is no good zoom in gcam because there is no Google phone camera with an optical zoom or second lens (so no support for second lens).

This is a good start! Thank you !
This is great! Is there a reason why you ported version 5 instead of the newer versions (6.x)? Merely curious.
Excellent, just did a quick test and photos seams sharper with gcam.
- Can you change default app for opening miniature?
- ISO setting don't work
Keep up the great work

6. X because of the problem of white balance FC. I don't know how to fix it

I cant use it always fc
i dearly hope that guy in the other thread who kept hammering on about wanting gcam to be ported to xperia 1 will give a fair donation to this bloke.
Hi! Ma Shao
China Mainland seems to have published nw-a100 and ZX500 Series with android 9 system
Have you tried to extract the app of the player from walkman APP (W.mucis)
For use with XPERIA phones.
What's the difference between the two apks?
Settings works, great!
M-rom you make very good custom ROMs you ever going to make for Xperia 1 I use to have m-rom on my xz premium
Portrait mode doesn't blur the background or am I missing something?

Some minor diffenence in settings.
Not all settings work, have to try some times.
My observations so far are that Gcam images look more organic and with much less artifacts than the stock camera, jpg files are also bigger with more information and hold up to editing better than the ones from the stock camera. The port is definitely worth it and I hope M-rom keeps working on it.
I can't get regular photos to work with either apk. Video works, photos w/front camera work, but can't get rear camera to work. Any tips?
No idea, both versions work for photos for me (on one of them portrait mode doesn't start). I use both.
Can anyone post comparison photos between Gcam and original ?
Portrait mode doesn't work with portrait camera.

Maybe you can check if you turned the "raw+jpg" on or not. I tried this before and it won't work. Turned off then rear camera worked.

Change default camera lens

Hey everyone,
I love my mi9T pro so when the main camera lens stopped focusing it really pained me.
Thing is, i can still take photos with the uw or tele lens fine.
The only problem is when I have to scan qr/bar codes with apps that won't let me change the lens (and it happens often enough to be a problem)
So i was wondering, and i haven't found the answer anywhere: is it possible to change the default camera lens, so that when an app needs to scan something it uses the UW or tele lens?
Thanks everyone for your help !
Wondering about the same for my RN 10 pro.
Any news?
Same problem since 1 year.. I focus from distance while scanning qr code and it works fine.. you found any solution?

No solution yet but as for qr code you can use modded gcam to scan qr code they have the ability to support aux camera (multiple lenses), although I asked a Rom Developer about that he said there might be a way by changing libcameraservice.so values i couldn't manage to do it though

Me too recently my phone's processor died i had to replace the whole motherboard but forgot to replace the Lense i think i could manage to live without qr code
I'm facing same issue but for another reason.. i also want other apps to use ultra wide lens but i couldn't find the solution.
I'm using my device as security camera but main camera has lower range. I want to use ultra wide lens in 3rd party apps that doesn't provide options to switch between lenses...
