I remember your kernel from Pixel 2 XL days!\

Nice to see here! Cheers

Trying this since yesterday, over night power consumption was 5%.
Device feels snappy, stays cool, just feeling good!
God job!

works with regular oneplus 8?

Can you check klapse, doesn't seem to be working (the dimmer feature), everything else seems on point!

K, same set up on Elemental and it works. Flash your kernel and no work (on my device). No worries, not a huge deal. Thanks for checking.
EDIT: Dirty flashed ROM again and all is working well!

Very quiet in here for awhile... Anything cooking?

Thanks !!

I work on new 1.7 added oc gpu and underclock gpu see AnTuTu test is amazing

I'm using (all conservative for Galaxy S phones)
The "Main" tab profile is set to 1200 max/100 min
Temp > 49.8 C - Priority 100 - 800 max/100 min
Charging/Full - Priority 95 - 1200 max/100 min
Screen Off - Priority 90 - 400 max/100 min
Battery < 12% - Priority 85 - 600 max/100 min
Battery < 25% - Priority 80 - 800 max/100 min
Seems to be working well for me so far. Not sure if this is the "best" way to do it, but it makes sense to me.
I have found set cpu to be completely useless and not help with battery life at all,i just leave it on 1000/100 1200 seems overkill. Plus why would lowering it save battery, if it was low it seems like it would just take longer to do something sucking up just a much battery life than if it was set high and got the job done faster.

thats probably underclocking way too low. ive found that anything under 400 makes my phone not wake up from sleep. also make sure that its set to conservative or itll cause problems.

Unless you have Unhelpfuls over clock kernel with a custom profile (Interactive). With the stock kernel that's correct, using the "Ondemand" profile it will cause your phone to not wake up and you get the pleasure of taking your battery out to reboot it.

That's the thing tho. The phone (without having setcpu intervene) automatically clocks its self down to 100mhz when the screen goes off. So I wonder what setcpu does that it makes the phone pull a sleeping beauty

It's because "ondemand" profile, it doesn't play nice with the galaxy s phones when in sleep. If you set it to ondemand for the main profile and conservative for when the screens off you won't have any issues.

It must be 1,3 or 1,4 GHz. It would be too much for lower frequency.

I've never noticed lower battery life after overclocking. Only when you use full power for longer time it drains battery faster.
About kernel for Kang you should use ironkrnl. Everything important you can find here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1517301
Afaik, overclocking it's actually just changing the maximum clock frequency, right? Which is only used according to CPU use. If your phone is on idle it will use the minimum configured CPU frequency, so it would not have an impact on battery drainage, only when you're doing CPU demanding tasks.
However, other than battery drainage, it will increase the temperature your CPU reaches when performing these tasks, which might lead to instability. As I've never come across an app or game that lagged, that is why I don't overclock, I don't see the point in risking CPU overheat.
Has anyone seen any difference while playing a game or using an app from regular clocked to an overclocked CPU?

what is the best overclock frequency i should tune for x8??

i'm using ginger dx v28> and i flashed overclocking after the Rom So What Is the best frequency to assign as i'm using setcpu 3.1 >
For Stock Kernel .
Set it to as high as you can without the phone rebooting itself the best frequency varies between phones as far as I know

I usually gets 710 with stock kernel as best with smartass governor. But u can always test in different clock.

OCing will always affect your processor. It's what it does.
Your oc value, in my experience, is dependent on the user (eg: smoothness/performance vs battery life). Stick with what works for you (but always mind you temp - just to be safe). I can oc above 710 but i rarely go above that cause it's more than enough for my daily/normal use, though i raise it when playong games.
Yes min frequency can be changed. There are a lot of ppl who know mre abt this than me, but (again) personally i prefer to set it at minimum and simply change governors when needed (i set it to on demand when watching videos).
Hope that helps.

what is governors and how to change it . i see it in option but i don't change any th
I'm not an expert in overclocking area... but as far as I know a governor is like a whole configuration pack for the CPU behavior: how it must act when the phone is sleeping, how it must act when it "wakes up", how and when it must jump from max to min values... I think that governors can be changed using the performance menu if you are using a cm7 based rom, but they can always be changed from the main screen on setCPU. The group of governors you can use depends from the kernel you have, I think. You can about some governors here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=843406
For me the one who has better balance between battery length and cpu speed is smartass V2. Hope I have helped. Good luck!
Oc will affect the cpu life i guess and the battery consumption. Governor will manage the cpu and the battery usage. Eg.when the phone sleeps, wakes, etc. U can use smartass on stock kernel and smartass v02 on custom kernel. From what i read, smartass affect dsp manager.
Hope it helps.
Sung to you by a walkman.....
okai thanxs all i see governor icon in setcpu i wanna the rates of the option in governor to adjust it as i'm using stock kernel
powersave bias 0
ignore nice load 0
show differential 0
up threeshold 0
sampling rate 400000
or is there any other app for govenor only
plz reply me
Im not sure if i understand correctly.
In setcpu there are a couple if tabs. In yhe main tab is where we change freq and governors:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Now if you want to edit your a governor further you go to the governors tab:
Now the thing is the governor tab changes depending on the governor you set in the main tab. For example, smartass will let you edit more values the, lets say, ondemand.
Now when you're in the governors tab simply tap on the option you want to change, change the value, then hit apply.
Hope that helps.

[KERNEL] 2.55 GHz overclock for SHIELD (need testers!)

2.55 GHz overclock for SHIELD
Please help test this - while there is definitely a measurable improvement in performance, it is kind of inconsistent with the sort of increases I'd expect this clock speed to bring. I have been testing this for a few days, and I'm not quite sure whether this is due to the hardware reporting the wrong clock speeds on the relevant PLLs, an overgressive power management/dvfs quirk, or a bottleneck somewhere. I did have to track down a kernel bug preventing higher clocks that turned out to be an issue with NVIDIA using a signed long where they should have used an unsigned long.
Flashing:
0. Make sure you are on the current OTA.
1. Unlock your bootloader.
2. Test the kernel: fastboot boot boot-roth-oc.img
3. See if it crashes while booting. If it does, don't proceed to the next step, and post a reply below. Before you flash, verify that you're running my kernel by checking for "[email protected]" either in the Kernel Version field in About SHIELD, doing a cat /proc/version (in case you didn't see it crashing), or verifying the maximum CPU speed is 2550 MHz.
4. If all goes well, flash the kernel: fastboot flash boot boot-roth-oc.img
Note: This boot.img is insecure (ro.secure=0) for easier debugging. Userspace apps shouldn't work yet, so this boots at 2550 MHz.
As always, boot/flash this at your own risk, though this kernel doesn't raise voltages much.

DUDE, this is CRAZY! I was getting almost 20 Thousand in Quadrant and 40 Thousand in AnTuTu. I want to see what this can do!
https://twitter.com/wwjoshdew/status/363142322529116160/photo/1
I haven't unlocked mine, but I will soon. Then I'd be more than happy to try out a custom kernel.
OH GOD. What are heat levels? This seems like a good way to melt hands off haha. Has anyone gotten access to the internal fans yet? If I attempt an overclock like this I'd want to have control over them like I do my desktop GPU.
Confirmed working here. Neat! Thanks very much.
Tried your Kernel. So far so good.
And the reason why you see such a inconsistent performance level is because nVidia has different CPU clocks for the Core usage:
1 Thread - Max Clock (1912MHz or with your Kernel)
2 Thread - Max Clock (1810 - 1912MHz)
4 Thread - Max Clock (1420 MHz)
/edit: Forcing a clock helps to prevent from downclocking. Antutu was 42xxx points. PPSSPP runs much better. Great work.
/edit 2: I think Tegra 4 can't statisfy a quadcore A15 with enough bandwidth. I have a CPU benchmark with scales up from 1400MHz to 2520MHz and giving 38% more performance. I see no throttling.
/edit3: Okay, i think you are right. It's not working. There is no scaling going up from 1912Mhz to 2550.
Is there a stock kernel image readily available?
Thanks!

How about GPU overclocking?That will be interesting also.
Going to give this a go tonight, would it be possible to provide the stock kernel in case this one is not as stable as it might appear after initial stress testing?
Edit: nvm on stock kernel, just saw that you flash the stock boot.img
Update: booted the kernel and ran a series of benchmarks to stress test. All is stable, will be flashing for daily use.

Not sure if this has been brought up but when the Shield goes to sleep clock rate drops by almost half on the factory kernel both on the CPU and the GPU.
Could this issue be due to that as well?
Unity engine games and live wallpapers seem to restore it to full speed.
I'll be glad to test this. as soon as i get my Shield, that is.
hopefully by the end of next month.
antutu scores have not noticably gone up with the kernel update. fyi
Flashed this kernel after the new build 59 update today and my wifi is broken.
Could be the update itself since I didn't check before I flashed the kernel. Just throwing out to see if others have the same issue.

Those who think 27 Mhz is useless and does nothing... Yeah the apps need min of 384 Mhz but when cell is ideal it can save a lot of battery..
here is a formula for Consumption (Got it from ak's Thread Thanks to him):-
A: The formula for power consumption is: P = f * c * V ^ 2
Where: P = power consumption, f = frequency, c = capacitance and V = voltage
So: since c is constant in this case, and we'll assume you've used the lowest UV possible (600mV)
At 304mhz: P = 304 * c * 600 ^ 2
At 192mhz: P = 192 * c * 600 ^ 2
This means that 304mhz uses approximately 1.58 times more power than 192mhz over the same time.

Looks like most everything is working, but the screen is too blue! Am I doing something wrong? Tried setting colors to default in Trickster mod, and while it looks like it works in-app, other apps are still tinged blue. On CM11.

Have you read the OP?
this kernel is for Aosp based roms only.. It won't work on CAF based cm11 rom.. that's the reason of these weird colors

Strange not got any of these issues......not the kernel issue...
Must be a ROM issue...try reflashing.....n this kernel is for aosproms only..
Has any1 else got this problem...
I've got another problem actually. Can't flash the new kernel at all, completely stuck in a bootloop. I tried a clean flash, I'm on PSX's new rom, it's really close to stock.
