Samsung A71 speak to text - Samsung Galaxy A71 Questions & Answers

I bought a Galaxy A71 online unlocked. The only problem with it is that the Samsung speak-to-text is in Chinese. The phone let me change everything else to English except the speak to text feature. I have gone into settings and got to the screen where you are able to change the input language, but it is not even highlighted for me to do so. Any suggestions???

Have you installed 'Google Text-to-speech' from the play store?

[Q] Search settings wrong (outside US)

I did try searching so apologises if this has been answered before.
I recently bought this phone, and it works great (I'm in the UK). BUT, and this happened on other phones with android, is using the search app, and for example typing in amazon, it'll take me to search listings with amazon.com. Where as if I search from my pc it'll give amazon.co.uk as first result. This is even worse for product searches, where it'll return the prices in dollars, I have enabled the "use my location" option in the search settings but still to no avail, it seems in the browser there's a string that has US, where I want it to be GB, or at least use the GPS and realise I want UK prices. I tried editing build.prop but nothing. Any ideas?
example when I search using hotkey from the desktop: www dot google dot com /m?hl=en&gl=us&client=ms-android-verizon&source=android-launcher-widget&q=amazon
Maybe if the hl=en&gl=GB it'd work as I want?
Did you install morelocale 2?
Thanks this worked straight away! I never thought I'd need to install a specific app just to have my location changed.. I'm assuming this changes some config file somewhere in the phone then. Is it a bug with Android because my friend also said he has the same problem.

Well, the droid 3 only has english and spanish settings. This means that it will also USA phonenumbers e.g. 581-102-1233, so morelocale is needed to fix it. (for the netherlands, at least). It will make apps/browsers etc think you're in xxx country
Ah, does the morelocal2 download extra settings then? Because yes my phone numbers are displayed correctly now as well. Strange because the phone was never meant to be used outside the US

I don't know exactly. What do you mean it wasn't mean to be outside the US? It's a global phone - just by verizon
I meant it wasn't sold in the UK or anywhere else in EU, I had to import mine. But yes I know it's a global phone, just not globally sold

I know but morelocale 2 is not droid 3 specific - it's for android, so it doens't matter that the droid 3 is not sold anywhere in the EU
Ok just discovered an inconvenience with the dialer. Got uk settings but it wants +44 on my phone numbers.. otherwise it just adds + to the last 7digits resulting in failed call. Any suggestions as I don't fancy changing my entire address book

Samsung Internet Voice Rec/Keyboard Input Problems

I downloaded the Samsung internet app for the Samsung gear VR for the first time today, and I noticed that everything works fine on the app, but as soon as I hit the search bar to type in an input, it comes up with the usual pop up window saying "listening". I try and speak and it doesn't pick up anything, just stays on listening. If I try and go on the keyboard input, I can hover over the keyboard icon by looking at it and it shines blue, but I can't actually click on it, so the keyboard input menu doesnt come up. I can't click on anything at all and I can't get rid of the window. I have to go back to the oculus main menu and load up the app again to reset it. Any ideas why this is?
i'm using Samsung Galaxy S7 flat\exynos version

Google Assistant with Language English India.

Google Assistant with device language set to English India can't even respond to cricket score. Anyone else facing this issue? It used to work before.

Question Google Messages

All,
I thought Samsung said at their unpacked event that they were moving to native Google messages. Mine looks like it is the Samsung messaging app Version 12.1.01.25. Anyone has any nsight on this? I have the s21 ultra 512GB directly from Samsung using T-mo.
A little research -- https://9to5google.com/2021/01/15/galaxy-s21-google-messages-pre-installed/
Not installed in the US... Why?
It was always only for non-US phones, US phones got stuck with Samsung Messages. We will have to wait for someone to upload the APK so that we can sideload it.
And for anyone wondering the Google Messages version in the Play Store is different and doesn't offer the integrated features that come with the Samsung version of it.
I wish they would stick to one of the two apps, not both. My 21 came with both preloaded and it's getting pretty ridiculous. There's pretty much double apps everywhere now, even a secondary keyboard by Microsoft! And I can't even uninstall them!
I am using the google messages for s20 ultra. I downloaded from the play store just fine
US S21 here. I downloaded from play store. It works but it says "chat features unavailable for this device"

That's on your carrier. RCS and chat features worked fine and activated immediately for me on T-Mobile.

yeah and nothing malfunctions, except I can’t get RCS to work.
EMEA Version came with Samsung Messages.
Installed Google Messages and have chat features in it.
Yeah, it's weird. Just got my s21. Text messages that are being reply to me were still going to my old phone that didn't even have a sim card. Searched and found that Chat features needed to be turned off on the old phone...didn't work either until I just uninstalled the app. Now chat features are not available on the s21. Says to call carrier. Figure it's a network issue holding onto my old device info and not releasing to my new? Maybe it just takes some time.
[Didn't know that Samsung is supposed to have a messaging app that integrated with googles.]

I have exactly the same problem, cannot activate the chat function because the validation SMS does not work either. If anyone finds the solution I am listening.

Thank you! How hard would it be for the Google Messages app to direct users to download the Carrier Service when they try to enable Chat features but are denied. Chat set up immediately after installing Carrier Service.
Edit: I'm on T-mobile with the T-mobile S21 Ultra.
I just removed google messaging app from mine, through ADB.
I was like.. what?? Why are there 2 apps with the same name "messages" in my drawer?
anyway, got rid of it
I have the Verizon version of the ultra and there were no issues with getting Google Messages to work with the chat features. All I did was download and install the app. I also made it my dark messaging app in Settings > Apps > Default apps.
I use T-mobile and and have the s21 ultra unlocked on Tmobile, and I use the google messages and chat features work perfectly fine.
On Tmobile 512 unlocked.
If I want RCS with call and text on other devices .(Play store version, of Google messages does not support Samsung text and call on other devices) I had to go on "U" firmware with TMO carrier services and stick with Samsung messages.
I tried installing Google " NATIVE"messaging for Samsung. That apk that was posted in another thread and it would not install.
Also it does not seem that continue app on other devices is working either .
My tab s7+ and S21 ULTRA are both on 3.1 and they have the options enabled ,but no
Worky.
Honestly I prefer the Samsung messages app because it gives an audible notification when you're on a phone call. The Google messages app doesn't. It sucks to be on a call and not know a text message came in. If Google messages would add that simple feature it would be just about perfect.
Question for those that have the Google Messages prebaked in, can one of you upload it for us to use? If I'm not mistaken that is the one that is specifically developed to be themed alongside One Ui. Thanks in advance!

It doesn't work, they already tried in this thread.

Question What SMS/text's application are you using?

As title, what aplication are you using for sms/text's?
Currently I am using stock samsung, but is is incredibly slow. I mean I type quickly, and sometimes my messages appear after 5-10 sec in it. Also I can get a text and when I enter apk I need to wait another 3/4 sec just to let it appear. Very frustrating, looking for something better, maybe google messages with one ui are better? Or maybe you got some alternatives?
I use the Google app. IDGAF about Samsung and their apps.

Samsung Messages before. Then started using Google Messages for RCS. Switched back to Samsung Messages as RCS is now supported by my Service Provider in Australia. IMO, Samsung Messages is better than Google's in the functionality wise.

Your Service provider has to support RCS to start with. I have Galaxy Watch. I get more options on my watch notification. Also, the notification tray has functionality to copy OTP or any numbers if the text has one.
I hate to sound thirsty, but look at my post regarding one ui themed Google messages .
I'm deep into my 2nd whiteclaw (mango) ,so I'm like super click bait right now
Been using google app, now switched to samsung messages. Only sms to mms conversion is annoying. Do you know how to turn off sms to mms conversion?

We both use EE, I had issues to enable it(had to try 20-50 times to success, otherwise I was getting error messages) and tried about 20 times on wife phone without luck.
