What do you mean?
If you talking about the hole punch, then that's the actual camera, in its fixed position. Same as any other camera cut out or notch on other phones. That's a trade off for as much screen real estate as possible.
Unless you are winding us up lol.

Yeah the hole punch. I mean the video should stop right before the hole punch like on every phone I have ever owned with one. Who wants to watch content with an ugly hole punch in the video

What phones have you owned recently? They must have had notches? Or your video was shrunk down. Certainly all Sammy phones over past 2 or 3 years have had cutouts.
Given the choice of a full screen immersive video with a small black dot, versus a shrunk downsized video with black bars, I am with the former. Because after a few days trust me you won't notice or care about that punch hole.
Anyhow, to answer your question, there is no setting to change the experience. As I said you will definitely get used to it.

I've owned the galaxy note 20U, the 20U, Note 10+, Note 9, Pixel 4xl and oneplus 6t had a hole cut out but when I watched something on goodgle play or hulu the video would stop right before the hole punch.
It's super distracting when there is a bright video.

I agree it's annoying, i haven't found an app specific solution either. The only thing I've found so far is to hide the hole punch everywhere in the settings (under Full screen apps > 3 dots > advanced settings)

I can honestly say that I've grown so used to it on other devices, that it doesn't bother me in the slightest. I'd much rather have the full screen real estate. Fair trade off for me

i dont understand the issue?
the hole punch is there. build a bridge and get over it.
if you dont want the hole punch to be visible when you play videos and such, use the advanced feature to "hide" the punch from interfering like a previous member posted.
i still own the note 20 ultra 5g and the hole punch is visible as well, but can be hidden if thats your desire.
that's all you can do.
if that's not good enough, then return the phone and find one that meets your specific needs. whining about it wont change anything.

100% Agree with you !! Return the phone if you have such a problem with the punch hole. Smh

There is no way to get around the hole punch. The next generation of devices may have under the screen cameras, but we are not there yet.

Lots of people hate notches and/or punch holes and don't get over it, ever. He was asking a question and stating his dislike, I didn't get any sense of an incessant complaint going on. Seems like it would have been good enough to tell him how to hide it rather than suggest he sell.

Well said, many times , People's reaction here is hyper and insensitive.

You can always use Samsung internet and watch YouTube hole punch free.. View attachment 5105773View attachment 5105775

You can always permanently hide the camera in the display settings, but this will be for all apps, not just video ones.

i can agree on the punch hole but i need the screen either to go top edge or bottom edge so that i can centre the punch hole camera to centre just like note 10 plus or bottom of the screen without punch hole camera interventions
anyone has solution for this

LOL, wow. The punch hole was there when you bought it. Did you think it had magical capabilities to disappear when you play videos?

There is a much easier option to hide the hole punch for a specific app. You don't need to hide it system wide.
When you have your video app open, go to the android task view, click on the logo of your open application and select the option "Change App Aspect Ratio". This will toggle between displaying full screen (with hole punch visible) and hiding it with a black bar exactly like you've mentioned earlier.

The best fix i have for this is MX Player.
If you go to display -> settings -> controls -> video pan (enable).
This enables you to pan the video around the screen.
You can move the video you're watching up or down into an area of free screen real estate (just out of the hole punches way).
It will save this position every time you watch a video too.
I recommend enabling plex to watch videos using an external player and choosing mx player to do this.
Unfortunately, I haven't found a good easy way to accomplish this same thing with youtube.

More screenshots

Meh. I'd rather have a small punch out in my video than lose even more screen real estate by hiding the camera. I don't notice the punchout any more. I DO notice when I lose 1/2 of screen size by apps that hide it.

Benchmarks NEEDED quickly
DETAILED BENCHMARKS
Please makae a video showing the various benchmarks
and also please make a video about Gaming Performance make a video of some really graphic intensive big games PLEASE
any heating issues or lag
1).Test the USB OTG with a pendrive of 16 gb or more as we will require this feature as N4 doesnot have microsd card slot.
2). I have heard that the colours on N4 are dull n luk washed off so please compare it with same content running on both phone.
3).I have also heard that the back is made up of glass and it wont allow any heat to pass thorugh it so please check whether the phone gets hot during benchmark or playing hardcore games for 20-30 mins.
4).how are the camera samples of N4 the colours, noise, low lighting conditions, moving objects, other basic stuff.
5).How long does the phone last on average usage.
6).Tell us how long does it take to charge the phone.
7).One more important thing which other reviewers dont mention also tell us about the call quality and vibration after all its a mobile phone.
8).Also test the sound quality
9).tell us any other problem or lag that you are facing.
it would be really nice if you can make a video or answer theese questions PLEASE BE QUICK
First of all, thanks for the video. Try to plan it out better next time though, so you don't say "ummm" a lot. Still a great video though, and I appreciate the effort
As far as things that I would like to see:
1) Can you please a get a really good close up of the screen/bezel border on the front? I want to know if there's as big of a gap as the Gnex
2) Open up settings, and get a closeup of the background (preferably in a dark room). I wanna know if they fixed that stupid gradient issue in 4.2, and if LCD vs. AMOLED might make it less obvious.
Thanks

I will work on these. But guys I'm not doing benchmarks..... there are some pretty good ones already done and I don't see that as being something I can do in a video.
It's fantastic, thanks man.

Screen Sensitivity
Hi, appreciate the effort you're putting in friend.
1 thing I can think of now that I'm quite curious about is the screen senstitivity of the phone.
Can you do the following please?:
1. (If you haven't already) Go to Settings > Options > About Phone > Tap 'Build Number' a few times till you turn developer options on.
2. Open developer options and turn on the 'Pointer Location' option.
3. Keep an eye on the 'Prs' value at the top of the screen and make as light a touch as possible around the screen. Record the lowest value you can get.
Can you also try and input text at a rapid pace and see how successful it is?
The reason behind all this is that there have been some reports of very poor screen sensitivity on the phone meaning that higher pressure is needed for the phone to register a touch.
Would it be possible for you to make a comparison to another android phone? Galaxy S'x' or a the Galaxy Nexus (if you own one)?
There's a thread in the Q/A forum where people are discussing this but I'm not able to post links yet. It's quite worrying.
Thanks

Ahaha I kid. I kid.
Actually all we want to know are three things...
1. does it rattle
2. is there a touch sensitivity problem.
3 and does an intensive game get even slightly laggier the longer its played.
If none of these issues exist..we would be VERY VERY HAPPY...Please reply.

DON'T update to CSA2 (if you love your bezel-less infinity display)

Hello everybody! Just updated my S9 to G960FXXU2CSA2 and the first thing I noticed left me speechless: this update added a thin (can't be more than some pixels) black frame around the UI. The result, as you can see, makes my S9 look like it has thicker bezels. I know it's a matter of some pixel but if you're used to Infinity Display this is the first thing you'll notice after the update. Don't know if this is intentional or not, but would be a serious issue if done on purpose…

I've been using Samsung infinity display since they introduced it on S8 so i'm quite used to the look and feel of it, and the first thing i noticed when my phone turned on after the update was this subtle change, like the bezels were thicker and the interface somehow more stretched. I'm downgrading right now to clear things up

Dude you can't even notice it from a photo, night mode on/off makes no difference at all. It's something you have to experience yourself, as the difference i'm talking about is no more than 1/2px. I'm used to this screen so I know what I perceive, and the first thing I noticed is the diminution of distortion around the edges which makes the screen look flatter and, by comparison, the bezels look thicker. It all plays around the distortion of the image given by the screen design, thus being something which can only be noticed if you see it for yourself (and not on a 2D photo) because it's too subtle.
Btw I'm just sharing my experience, I don't want to convince anyone nor I seek popularity. If you're happy with the device and don't notice anything then I'm happy for you. And just to let you know, i'm not the only one with this problem, there are other cases reported (not many to be honest, but this can be because of it being really subtle)

Can someone give me an advice (or link) how to upgrade my rooted S9+ G965FXXS2BRK2 (Android 8.0.0) to G965FXXU2CSA2 without to reinstall all my apps and loss my data/settings?
I will give it a try and see if I have the same problem of this black bezel...
I think he is seeing the edge of the gorilla glass layer. If you look on edge, you can see that the display curves around the edge to below the actual phone bezel. The actual display is UNDER the gorilla glass layer.

Mi 10 Ultra - dimensions needed to clear the ultrawide lens field of view.

FYI, on the Mi 10 Ultra, this should be the clearance you will need to have for phone clamps and gimbals if you don't want them to appear in the shot of the ultrawide camera.

Phone clamps will have to be mounted off-center to the right.
It's possible that the only way to mount this in a gimbal without getting part of the clamp or gimbal in the shot would likely be to use a tray-style gimbal (not a clamp style ie. DJI Osmo 2/3, Zhiyun Smooth X, Hohem iSteady X, etc.) with a way to offset the phone or add counterweights.
I'm eager to hear about personal experiences with gimbals on this phone though!
We still don't know if the geometric center is the center of gravity though. I wonder if the battery weight could move the center of gravity away from the camera system.
Guess we'll have to wait and see.

The geometric center is almost assuredly not the center of gravity. Most every other phone has the center of gravity towards the charging port (right side in the diagram) but the huge problems with the Mi 10 Ultra are that:
- The ultrawide lens is the lens closest to the center of the phone, which is an incredibly stupid thing for Xiaomi to do. They've done the same on the Mi 9 and other Mi 10 phones as well, so this isn't new or special for Xiaomi. It's a dumb design flaw that has persisted across multiple iterations of their phones.
- The ultrawide lens is the widest ultrawide on any smartphone right now.
- Any infringement on the ultrawide will be occurring on the horizontal side of videos shot in landscape orientation, so you don't be able to crop in without losing a ton of resolution and field of view.
You see why I'm interested in:

Probably not the best for anyone but I'm currently working that way. Using a phone as a B cam, shooting in 4k and cropping but, as you can imagine, quality is far from perfect.
That's why I so hope Mi 10 ultra shoots high quality UW 8k and gives me some control over the process.

I don't have the phone, but just by looking at the measurements I can't imagine how any gimbal could work on this with the ultrawide. If it's not the clamp and roll motor immediately getting into the view, the tilt motor probably would.
I'm also unable to find any videos shot on YouTube with the ultrawide and a gimbal for any of the previous Xiaomi phones with their ultrawide in a similar position on the phone.
I don't understand gimbals much because I never looked into them but based on the above info: when you need a gimbal, would it be possible to attach a removable lead or iron weight to the bottom of the phone to bring the center of gravity way towards that end?
Impossible to use with a gimbal
I bought the mi 10 ultra due to the wider opening angle of the market in wide camera. I tested all the shooting modes and in all of them there is a specific phone stabilization system EXCEPT the video made with the wide camera, which makes the use of the gimbal mandatory if you want a stable video. But the wide camera is in the MIDDLE of the device, that is, the arm and the motor of the gimbal cover all the video on the right side of the scene. Some users are saying to crop the video, but crop videos do not require the gimbal, yet if you want to use it, the gimbal still appears.

Question Do you have rainbow effects on your Pixel 7 screen?

A user on Reddit posted that they had rainbow effects on their P7 screen when the screen was held at an angle. I did a little searching, and found that this was fairly common on the P6 screens as well. Apparently Google found that this was a normal effect and in tolerance with their manufacturing specifications.

Do you see any rainbow effects on your P7 screens?
I noticed it yesterday when the phone was about three feet away from me on the table. Maybe at a 45 degree angle it rainbows, but holding it, or being close to it, shows no signs of it. It doesn't bother me since the way I "normally" hold and use it do not produce the effect. Only if it's at a big enough angle. Even so, it is very minor. When I did see it I had to move my head back and forth to really notice it. Otherwise the screen just looks a little off color on parts of the screen. No biggie.

The phenomenon of lenses causing light to split into its component parts is called "diffraction". Any transparent medium where light travels at a different speed from the medium it came from will exhibit this phenomenon.
Mine has a slight blueish and pink tint on white at angles. I'm not sure what to do. It's not bad, I don't really notice it. I would be happy to exchange it if I knew there were some displays that didn't have this issue.
Mine has that too. But geezes, you have to be looking at the phone at an extreme angle to notice it.
Thanks for posting your experiences guys. I tried to edit the poll to reflect a vote where the issue is present but doesn't cause a problem. You should be able to change your vote. Hopefully I didn't screw things up there, and if I did, my apologies.
I notice it but the bigger issue is the green tint, just looks awful compared to my calibrated monitors.
My old S8 had a bit of a reddish tint but the colors looked better overall if a bit oversaturated. Might try to root and use Sa2ration or something.
My Pixel 6 Pro did. The Pixel 7 Pro does not.
Ok I can weigh in now. I see the exact same effect on this phone as my other oled phones. When you look at the screen at more extreme angles, you get a bluish tint to white screens. Really not an issue for me, and I don't consider it a rainbow effect (though I think it is the same thing).
On my pixel 7 I get the rainbow effect on white backgrounds when looking directly at the screen not at an angle. The screen on my Samsung a53 is much better then the screen on my pixel 7
people cant enjoy the phone for what it is...just buy the damn thing and enjoy it, its not like its noticeable if you looking at it from a normal view
I think it also depends on the kind of person you are. At work I asked 10 people and only one colleague noticed a slight shift. My iPhone XS Max back in the days also had this issue. I traded it in and got a new one, which had the same issue. I then used the phone for another 2 years and aside from the first week it didn't bothered me anymore.
They all have it. Some more than others. If you're looking for it, it's there. If you just use your phone it will disappear and just leave an excellent phone to enjoy.

My p6 pro doesn't have it, even at angles and full brightness, weird
Mine has bluegreenish and redish wave-tints on angles displaying white backgrounds. But I got enough other problems in life. So ... idc
I have had three Pixel 7 (non Pro) - all of them had the same rainbow effect.
And this is quite annoying because you can not really keep 100% the same angle by reading or looking at the display while holding the smartphone in the hand. You always move a bit - and then the blue or red waves are rolling over your screen.
For me the display is one of the most important components - the display you are looking at all the time you are using the device.
But that's just my point of view...
At first I had no clue what people were talking about, but after turning the brightness to 100% and tilting the phone in an angle I'll never use (since its impossible to look at the screen since its so tilted) - then yes.
I do have the rainbow-effect on my Pixel 7.
However, its a non-issue.
I had to tilt it even more than the person in the video from OP,
but even that angle seems like a non-issue tbh.
Might as well be my protective glass for all I know.
I'll never see it unless I tilt to an unusable angle.

Mine has a slight blueish and pink tint on white at angles. I'm not sure what to do. It's not bad, I don't really notice it. I would be happy to exchange it if I knew there were some displays that didn't have this issue.

Upgrade to the Pixel 7 Pro since it doesn't have this issue since they didn't cheap out on the display. Seems they didn't change the screen from the Pixel 6 since XDA actually mentioned this in the review they did on the screen: "Rigid OLEDs are an older construction that is now usually only used in budget phones...Also, on rigid stacks, the refraction of the light transmitted through the glass layers causes unwanted rainbow viewing angles that you simply don't see on flexible OLEDs."
I personally find it annoying but only because I know about it now and only really noticeable if you looking at the phone at extreme angle like sitting on your desk or other flat surface. My fancy expensive larger S7+ Samsung tablet also has same issue so obviously doesn't bother enough people for them to spend more to upgrade the display to get rid of it. Also, pretty anoying that my much older LG v35 phone doesn't have this problem either since it was flexible OLED, but as you can see flexible OLED easier to break around edges, another reason I went with Pixel 7 instead of the Pixel 7 Pro.
Pixel 7 Pro: it does not have any rainbow issues.
Here's a pic I took of my S7+, iphone SE, LG V35 and Pixel 7 and can u guess which one is the Pixel? Easy to spot since only other one than the large S7 with the rainbow colors. Also, as you can see from the pic most noticeable on a clear white background so if you work or look at a lot of that like say documents at angle might be annoying enough but not to upgrade to the Pixel 7 Pro just to get rid of it. Even if you did you would still get bluish color like on the LG V35 OLED display at bottom because that's just how OLED works
Why do I see a color shift when I look at the display from an angle?

Question Used the Vivo professionally:)

Out of curiosity, I compared my X90 Pro+ at an event to my Sony A9 (paid £2500) with a £1500 sony lens attached.
Used the Vivo 2x zoom, so not even the best lens on the camera. Indoors in a not particularly well lit room, with ceiling lights messing with skin tones.
While there are of course differences, I am amazed how well the Vivo holds up. The screen behind looks better on the Vivo thanks to the great hdr processing, and details are retained really well on the jacket.
This is not to say it can do what the £4000 Sony combo can, but proving the point that mobile photography has come a really long way and that the Vivo is a top pick - even if the Chinese are spying on you

200% crop for pixel peepers:
I also took some snaps around my local area - this one was picked for some of our marketing collateral.
With the Sony, I would have to use a tripod to get the long exposure. Amazingly, this was done handheld leaning against a pillar
Night shot with the 2x lens (edit):
I had this phone for just a few days and yet to get around to all the features - once I master it 100% I'm sure it will be part of my work equipment.
Thanks a lot for sharing. It truly is amazing how far smartphone cameras have come. Vivo's work is very commendable. You also have a good choice in cameras. The alpha series of cameras are amazing for their versatility.
The Vivo X90 Pro+ does have a very reputable and somewhat even famous Sony sensor so it might be why it holds up so well. Especially with the post processing. If you hadn't labeled which device took which photo, I would have had a very hard time picking which was which.
I'll be taking mine to the jungles of Australia in about a month and I cannot wait to see what I can capture there.
Enjoy your phone.
The photos are great, but you had good subjects. Try the portrait in front of a complex background or on someone with long curly hair. Short hair cut and simple background are really easy for AI Blur.
Still even easy on the close up some mistakes are visible (e.g. the view through the left side of the glasses).
Also I think it's way more important for professional work to get reliable shots where you know how they will work out, and usability on the functions, Integration with external Equipment like microphone/flash and so on. All things not possible on a smartphone. Plus speed of changing modes (flip a wheel, hit the shutter button) and a lot more. It's not the quality of shots that turn out well that make a smartphone unusable (for video much more than photo), but the shots that do not turn out well.
With the smartphone and the AI and every firmware update changing how things work, they are simply not tools for professional photography, but can be an addition in some situations. So far they are far away from being a full replacement.

I did not suggest the Vivo will be a replacement for my Sony equipment - I just did a casual test to check how they would stack up against each other in a typical work scenario. Yes, zooming in reveals the bokeh is not perfect as will be the case on any phone, and yes, adding microphone/flash is obviously not going to work.
I am well aware of the limitations of mobile photography. Point of this is just to show how the quality of images is getting closer - and that it is good enough to be an addition to the pro equipment. For instance, I have been using my p30 pro for wide angle snaps of venues where I photograph. The Vivo will do this too, only better.

To quite a few people they get this impression however on the various DSLR vs smartphone "tests".
E.g. for Video I would take an old Canon XL-H1 over any smartphone if I had to shoot a movie. Even though it only supports 1080i (not even 1080P).
I would argue that even the older SD resolution 3chip prosumer Video cameras are better able to tell a story vs a modern smartphone - because if you shoot a movie the auto white balance with the actor looking different in any scene and other problems will make it hard to grip your viewer. Then of course no - I would never use such old equipment anymore but picture quality is simply just one aspect.
If I shoot something and only later discover on my PC that the aperture or color balance is so off that I cannot fix it - it simply means I failed my job. There are situations where the smartphone can supplement or even replace professional equipment - it's well visible nowadays in press conferences how many people resort to smartphones - especially if it's only for press and not tv stations.
Usability and reliablility will never catch up - while pure picture quality may even overtake? Overtake is a bit hard because the manufacturers like Sony, Canon, Nikon, Red and others could always just build their products around a smartphone chip. I mean that's kinda how Red revolutionized the Film market.
They used camera chips, coupled them with immense cooling - and got a video camera that beats out film. But should sensors for smartphones ever surpass sensors for DSLR (unlikely as long as there is a potent market for DSLR) - DSLR could just go for smartphone sensors, snapdgragon processors - and build a hardware around it that has way better usability than a simple touchscreen.
100% crop of X90 Pro+ (90mm lens) vs. Sony a6400 (75mm lens + digital). Indoor shot at night.
A pro photographer will know which one is which, but I'm not sure which one is better
@Haskren Your photography skills are amazing!
