[ROM][OneUI 2.5][TWRP] NcX 2.5 for A71 [SM-A715F] - Samsung Galaxy A71 ROMs, Kernels, Recoveries, & Ot

NcX 2.5 A71 ROMPretty straight forward, I took OneUI 2.5 firmware, debloated it and added a few features which can be found here: Link to MODs
My plan is to make this the best version of OneUI 2.5 with more features and fixed things (my mission is to fix Secure Folder in the near future) Fixed
Anyway, let's get started.
Code:
Your warranty is now void.
* We are not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
* thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
* do some research if you have any concerns about flashing this ROM
* before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
* you point the finger at us for messing up your device, we will laugh at you. HARD!
Features!
TWRP Included
Full OneUI 2.5 features
Debloated
Added camera features
Dolby Atmos without earphones
Optimized
Edge Lighting fully enabled
Secure Folder fixed
Smart View fixed
Samsung Health fixed
Samsung OCR service
Bugs!
Secure Folder broken (will try to fix later) Fixed on 2.5.1
Samsung Pass broken (because of knox 0x1, duh) Removed from ROM, it will never work.
Bug with AOD brightness when you use fingerprint unlock method. This bug happens when you have AOD to always show. If AOD is showing, then you turn the screen on to only show lockscreen clock and then turn the screen off for AOD to show, the brightness of AOD will reduce to the most minimal and it will be hard to see, regardless of what brightness you set up. There are 2 ways to getting rid of this bug:
Disable unlocking phone with fingerprint
Unlocking your phone and then locking it again. This will only fix it until you trigger the bug again
Fixed, clock animation removed.
You tell me

PrequisitesMANDATORY ALWAYS: SD Card. It IS possible to have it on internal storage but ONLY if you are not encrypted. If you are encrypted, then you will need to FORMAT DATA and that will delete everything in your internal storage and you won't be able to add it back to internal storage with TWRP because MTP is broken. For installing 2.5.1/2.5.2:
Installing and following NcX 2.5 installation steps, as well as its prequesites
TWRP Installed (included in NcX 2.5)
Download multidisabler.zip (link: From Telegram Group (also attached on this thread) and add to SD Card or internal storage
Download Magisk zip installer to your SD Card or internal storage
For installing 2.5:
Update to bootloader U3 (either install OneUI 2.1 or OneUI 2.5 fully with Odin), otherwise you will have problems with camera
Fully unlock bootloader. I don't mean just turning OEM unlock on in developer settings , I mean FULLY unlock. If you didn't know, Samsung changed up how you unlock the bootloader on newer devices like this one. @topjohnwu gets a little more specific here: Explanation but I'm going to quote the important stuff to FULLY unlock bootloader:
Unlocking BL on modern Samsung devices have some caveats, so I figure this would be helpful.
Allow bootloader unlocking in Developer options → OEM unlocking
Reboot to download mode: reboot and press the download mode key combo for your device.
Long press volume up to unlock the bootloader. This will wipe your data and automatically reboot.
If you think the bootloader is fully unlocked, it is actually not! Samsung introduced VaultKeeper, meaning the bootloader will still reject any unofficial partitions before VaultKeeper explicitly allows it.
Go through the initial setup. Skip through all the steps since data will be wiped again later.
Connect the device to Internet during the setup.
Enable developer options, and confirm that the OEM unlocking option exists and is grayed out. This means the VaultKeeper service has unleashed the bootloader.
Your bootloader now accepts unofficial images in download mode.

Download Magisk zip installer to your SD Card or internal storage
Download multidisabler.zip (link: From Telegram Group and also attached in this thread) and add to SD Card or internal storage
Instructions!For installing 2.5.1/2.5.2:
Reboot to TWRP
Flash NcX 2.5.1.img or NcX 2.5.2 as "super" image in TWRP
Reboot to Recovery
Format data if you are coming from Stock ROM. If you are coming from NcX 2.5 then you don't need to wipe or format, you can just skip this step.
Flash multidisabler (this is required always)
Flash Magisk zip (optional)
Reboot and wait patiently
For installing 2.5:
Reboot to download mode and add AP_NcX 2.5 A71 in AP on Odin
Uncheck the Auto reboot option in Odin
Flash
When it is finished, force a manual reboot (keep pressing VOL - and Power buttons together)
Immediately when phone reboots, boot to recovery mode (VOL + and Power button)
If your phone was unencrypted before, just do a normal wipe. If your phone was not unencrypted before, do a full data format (Go to WIPE option in TWRP, select FORMAT DATA button at the bottom and they type yes on the keyboard. This will completely wipe your internal storage so be sure to backup and photos, music, etc... you have in internal media.)
Flash multidisabler to ensure you do not get encrypted
Flash magisk (I don't know if this is mandatory, I would fully recommend it though)
Reboot and wait patiently

FAQ
[Q] My phone is stuck in bootloop/infinite boot, what should I do?
[A] It is normal for first instalation to take aprox 10-20 minutes on first boot, let it sit for a little bit
[Q] Even after 20 minutes, my phone is still in a bootloop/infinite boot, what can I do?
[A] It is possible that your previoius Android setup is conflicting with this new setup. Please, do the following:
1. FORMAT DATA (not WIPE, FORMAT!)
2. Try the instalation of NcX again
[Q] I've found a bug, what should I do
[A] Please read the "Bugs" section of the thread to see if your bug has been reported, if it hasn't, please let me know exactly what the problem is so I can take a look
[Q] I flashed magisk on TWRP but no apps are asking for SU Permission
[A] Make sure you have the Magisk Manager app installed
[Q] I don't see Magisk Manager in my apps
[A] You need to download the manager from the official source: https://github.com/topjohnwu/Magisk
[Q] Something bothers me and I want it fixed/changed
[A] Please, kindly make a request and if it's within my grasp, I'll try to fix it. Just, don't be rude and demand something. Either that or return to stock, your choice

How to report a bug/Ask for a change
Over the small amount of time I've been doing my edits and shared them with the community, I've noticed something that seems to irritate me. I can't speak for all the developers on this forum, but I do edits/ROMs/PORTs/etc... to what I like. I don't work for anybody else but me. I share my work because it may have something of value to other people and/or some people may share the same taste as me on regards to what they want on a ROM.
That being said, that doesn't mean I will completely ignore what the community has to say.
First and foremost, it must be said, I am merely a beginner. I do not claim to be a professional developer that knows how to add everything, I am nowhere close and I learn as I go.
There are ways to ask for something and/or report a bug when it comes to ROMs, and this post is my attempt to try to explain how to (and how not to) report a bug in order to help me out as much as possible to try to fix something
You can also ask for something to be added, but there are also ways to ask for something
So, here we go
Keep in mind:
I do not add stuff that can easily be downloaded from the Playstore
I, myself, don't do kernel edits
I COULD remove stuff if NOBODY uses it
---REPORTING BUGS---
How NOT to report a bug:
"SystemUI (or any app)is crashing, please help!"
"Instagram doesn't allow me to edit my post, what could be wrong?"
"My bank account app is not letting me do such thing"
These posts are sort of pointless as they only state something but I have no context on what could be causing it. Also, I can't really control (for the most part) third-party apps, so if you're going to ask about them this way, don't even bother
A slightly better way to report a bug:
"I clean installed the ROM and was working fine, after I installed Facebook and logged in, I immediately uploaded a photo and SystemUI started to crash. Can you look in to it?"
"I tried to install Black Neon theme (a link to it would work as well) and it was working fine until I tried to activate AOD (or anything else for some reason) and SystemUI (or any other app) is crashing, could you look in to it?"
"My bank account app doesn't let me take a screenshot of my accounts. I get a toast notification saying "Can't take screenshot due to security policy"
As you can see, this provides a bit more context and explanation on your current situation. This gives me a little more detail on trying to replicate the problem and hopefully could fix it by replicating it. Well, except for point #3 which is out of my hands for the most part (I think). If you include what kernel you're using would make everything better! Also any significant change that would require root (like xposed and or anything that modifies /system also needs to be informed for better results)
The BEST way to report a bug:
LOGCAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Please learn the ins and outs of a logcat, this really helps a lot on finding what the problem is. Also, please give a brief explanation as the above examples when providing a log cat
---ASKING FOR STUFF TO BE ADDED---
How NOT to ask for stuff:
On your next update, add iris scanner
You should add (app) on your next update
Hey, please add (app or feature) on your next update
No, I do not work for you. Even if you say please like the third example, that doesn't mean you're being polite. It still sounds like an order lol so you should probably rephrase your request.
How to ask for stuff to be added to my work:
Would you be so kind to add (feature) to your ROM, if possible?
Would it be possible to add this app to your ROM?
Please, can you add (feature) to your ROM, if it isn't much to ask?
See how politeness makes everything better? You're not demanding it, you're just politely asking to see if maybe it is within my grasp to add something. And if all request would be like this, I can assure you I'd try my best to add said feature
I hope this is useful to you or I at least hope that some people read it.
If not, I can just tell you to return to stock ROM, probably better than any ROM I put out anyway

Enjoy guys, keep on the lookout for updates. I plan on adding more MODs and fixes

Were there any red messages in TWRP when you were installing?

Everybody enjoy the rom
Your group link isn't working, who's on the team?
Edit: Wait i just rewrote the link.. this works! Will try soon!
Edit 2: Tried the ROM for a bit.
Art works, so that's what I've been using, so these issues might be due to that.
In settings, Advanced force crashes.
In Apps, clearing data of any app causes a soft reboot. I think the clearing of the data actually works, but it still soft reboots.
Titanium backup is stuck on "Asking for root rights" . so i tried checking SuperSU but said it had to be updated, but TWRP way wouldn't work, it just rebooted on a black screen with an orange led and i eventually had to connect to computer and ADB reboot. I don't actually think it's rooted.
I also can't get into recovery.. do i have to fastboot flash a recovery everytime I need to enter it?
Other than that it's smoother than anything I've tried on this ROM!
I really want to install this rom. I just have 2 questions, first what are the known bugs and also what am I gonna lose? x reality, 4k recording everything is gonna be gone?

I was on doomlord's kernel, first i used TWRP, formatted everything including system and internal storage.
Then installed ROM, gapps, and supersu, all from the links in OP. I tried the same things in CWM. I reverted back to doomlord's kernel each time for recovery, then flashed the ROM to get it to boot again. Can you integrate a recovery into the ROM?

Recoveries are included with kernels. I will make an Aroma installer script, so everyone would choose his kernel. The one included in the ROM is what i considered is the most stable.

After some diggin' into it, here is what i found :
The Advanced options crashes for a pretty dumb reason. The activity is not declared in the manifest. Will be fixed or removed. I don't know why it is even there, as it's a cm app.
About the clear data thing, i'll need to decompile some apps so i can see what's wrong in there. Will be fixed.
I am still looking into the super-user problem, i don't know what's causing it.
Thanks again!

The app crashes because it has not been included. (the apk is missing) also these settings provide extra options such as setting the vibration strength and enabling/disabling fast charging (if kernel supports). so I really recommend adding it.
for super user it is that you want to place a line in some init (in /etc) or in install-recovery.sh:
Code:
# Activate SuperUser Daemon if existing
if [ -e /system/xbin/daemonsu ]; then
/system/xbin/daemonsu --auto-daemon
fi
or implement init.d support would also do the trick. Users still need to install superuser (through cwm) themselfs tho
Good
thanks man , i will flash it

Fantastic! Finally we've got a rom of our very own, for which you've got my immense thanks. I'm very much looking forward to trying it out.
Unfortunately when I flashed it there was a loooong wait on the Samsung logo, and then... Well, after an hour I booted back to recovery to start over.
I honestly don't think your rom was the problem though, because from some point last night everything I tried - custom rom flashing and nandroid backup restores - wound up the same way. Odin + stock + root got a usable system at least, and today's been too busy to try again. But when I do I'll post back about how it goes.
(Sadly, I can't go back in time to see what order I did things and look for a pattern if this happens again. In case it might be useful to anyone, I know for sure I'd gotten stock set up comfortably and made a complete backup before giving thunderoar's T113 kernel a whirl, and that went swimmingly. Even had mounts2sd properly recognizing external sd set up after a long struggle, though not actually enabled yet. Don't know what else i did between making that backup and trying to flash this, but it's likely I just screwed something up somehow.)

Upgrade your firmware to PH5 before flash and use TWRP 3.0.2-0.
Firmware: http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=SM-T113
TWRP: https://dl.twrp.me/goyave/
Wipe all partition in TWRP:
System, Cache, Dalvik and if you can internal Storage.
Thunderoar Kernel isn't compatible with PH5 firmware for the moment.

Thanks so much for responding even though I didn't specifically ask.
Pretty much all my knowledge comes from following instructions in these forums and piecing little bits of information together, so I've got a few questions - trying to understand the "why" behind these things in order to be more self-sufficient. Please feel free to point me towards resources where I can learn more!

This is a surprise to me - I'd always thought that when flashing a new ROM, everything gets replaced. I never would have figured this part out on my own!

There's no Canadian version - but should I presume that, since this is a Wi-Fi only device, the CSC isn't too important?
How much does this matter even when using a device with a network connection?

When you install a rom, especially a TW one, in most case you need a specific Bootloader to cause it to start and work smoothly.
Wikipedia:
A boot loader is a computer program that loads an operating system or some other system software for the computer after completion of the power-on self-tests; it is the loader for the operating system itself. Within the hard reboot process, it runs after completion of the self-tests, then loads and runs the software. A boot loader is loaded into main memory from persistent memory, such as a hard disk drive or, in some older computers, from a medium such as punched cards, punched tape, or magnetic tape. The boot loader then loads and executes the processes that finalize the boot. Like POST processes, the boot loader code comes from a "hard-wired" and persistent location; if that location is too limited for some reason, that primary boot loader calls a second-stage boot loader or a secondary program loader.
The bootloader runs your rom with specific instructions, if the rom does not support an older bootloader simply does not boot. My rom does not support the older bootloader. A zip flash in this case cannot upgrade a delicate part like the bootloader. You need to flash the newer one with Odin.

The latest update for your country is PA5. Try with THIS.
Your country code is XAC.
The CSC (Sale Country Code) Is that part of the firmware that contains all the telephone operator customizations (e.g. WAP, MMS) for the intended country. As far as i know, It is not important for us.

Yup, that's the app I'm using, but haven't been able to get my external partition mounted properly. I did manage it once, think it was with thunderoar's kernel though.

Life has gotten in the way of playing around with this, but thought I'd send you an update as I said I would...
Your rom is running really nicely on my tablet as I use it daily. It's smooth and small, with no unexpected reboots or fc's on installed apps. Didn't wipe internal SD but it hasn't given me any issues with existing data (probably because there wasn't much to start with).
One thing that has caused a problem is calendar sync. It looks like you've taken out the actual syncing service, so when I try to access my calendars through any app I'm asked to add a new Google account, even though everything's already set up in "Accounts" under Settings. I haven't tried running the "calendars.providers.apk" from my other phone, that should fix the problem - but I don't want to use the wrong version and break something!
Also, I've confirmed that the only time I got mounts2sd working, it was with thunderoar's kernel. So guess that's going to have to wait.
A few adjustments I made to the setup were to uninstall all "unnecessary" system apps (not needed to run the device), and re-install them from the store. This way I've got 676mb free on /system and still over 1.5GB free on internal storage.
I've also added a multi-reboot menu to make getting into recovery or download mode simpler, and this is loading more quickly on your rom than stock. I've also had to modify permissions.xml to allow apps to access external storage by default, and made another tweak to disable the "loud volume warning" (don't remember quite what it was offhand).
Would you consider adding these to a future version?
Again, thanks SO much for putting this together, answering questions, and doing your thing. It's greatly appreciated!

One more question about this: The way you've worded the second paragraph seems to imply only that older bootloaders don't work with newer roms, so are newer bootloaders backwards compatible? Say I've got the PH5 bootloader installed and I want to restore a backup of the previous firmware, do I have to flash that firmware first?
Sorry if it seems obvious, this is how we learn!

T113/T113nu and T116/T116ny have a similar codename and hardware (The recovery have goyave codename, therefore any rom with goyave codename can be flashed). For the hotspot, maybe some missing libraries, a different driver or a different kernel makes hotspot broken. Try to restore your kernel from a previous backup.

[Guide] [Mate 10 Pro] Treble-Compatible ROM installation and Compatibility list

Introduction
This is aimed to be a complete but simple guide for users which want to know what works in the Treble-World on the Mate 10 Pro and 'how to get there', based on other guides and my own findings
Disclaimer: I am not responsible for what you do with your device, you are free, probably old enough to know what you are doing and intelligent enough to read this through.
For the moment I will only speak about my own tests on a BLA L29 as I don't have the possibility to test everything.
Feel free to share your own discoveries via PM (just reuse the same formatting to make things easy)
Requirement
1. PC/Laptop running Windows 10 with adb and fastboot drivers installed
2. Original Huawei USB Type-C Cable
3. Being able to read and use search when a question arises
Summary
0. General Information
I. Unlock the Bootloader
II. Choose your ROM (a.k.a "What works on what")
III. Install your ROM
IV. Miscellaneous / Secondary stuff
V. Bonus : What to do if I am stuck / Bootlooping
0. General Information
To make things easier for everybody, here are some basic informations about your device and some common knowledge :
How do I get in Download / Bootloader / Fastboot Mode ?
Shut down your device, insert your USB cable. Keep the Volume DOWN button pressed and press the Power button, wait.
PRO TIPP : You may also get there from within android, first enable ADB debugging in developer options, then, on your PC open a command prompt and type "adb reboot-bootloader"
How do I get in Recovery Mode ?
While in Download / Bootloader / Fastboot Mode, take the USB cable out, keep the Volume UP button pressed and press the Power button until the phone reboots.
I. Unlock the Bootloader
We allready have a thread by @otonieru perfectly discussing this point, don't forget the Windows 10 fix :
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-10/how-to/how-to-huawei-mate-10-pro-standard-t3709535
II. Choose your ROM (a.k.a "What works on what")
This section isn't complete and should be detailed with time. None of these ROMs is specific for the Mate 10 Pro, but thanks to Treble, most images will work. Device-specific modifications are still needed in future, ask your local dev
1. Generic AOSP (Android 8.0 and 8.1) by Phhusson
Link : https://forum.xda-developers.com/pr...-development/experimental-phh-treble-t3709659
Description : Really basic ROM (basically pure AOSP) which serves as a basis for most of the other ROMs.
What's working : Everything basic
What's not working : VoLTE, SuperSU and Magisk, Signal strength is reported incorrectly, error message at each start, Play Store tends to hang (solution : wipe the Play Store from recents or force close it)
Actual status : Barebones, can be customized in some ways with overlays.
2. LineageOS 15.1 (Android 8.1) by LuK1337
Link : https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-view-10/development/rom-lineageos-15-1-t3753000
Description : If you don't know LineageOS, you should have heard about CyanogenMod (CM). This is a super clean, customizable version of Android, based on AOSP
What's working : Everything basic
What's not working : VoLTE, SuperSU and Magisk (system crashes), Signal strength is reported incorrectly,
root works thanks to addon-su (see Miscellaneous)
Actual status : Working as a daily driver (at least in my case) if you can live with some very small drawbacks.
III. Install your ROM
Once you have unlocked your Bootloader and chosen the ROM your heart desires follow these steps :
1. BACK UP YOUR DATA ! -> You will certainly have to do a factory reset and backing up data should be something natural when flashing something on your phone, even before updates.
2. Download the ROM (latest is probably best, but it's best to read what is said in the respective threads before jumping in the hole.
3. Reboot to the Download / Bootloader / Fastboot Mode (see above)
4. Flash the ROM by opening a command prompt and typing :
Code:
fastboot flash system system.img
where "system.img" is the filename of the ROM you downloaded
5. Reboot the phone by typing :
Code:
fastboot reboot
6. The phone will probably get in a bootloop. Don't panic. This should be normal.
After 4-5 reboot the phone will go in Recovery mode. Make a Factory Reset
7. Reboot
8. Profit
IV. Miscellaneous / Device-Specific stuff
This is probably the more interesting part as it is quite hard to find the correct information for our device concerning these points.
Root
ROMs as Lineage don't come prerooted. To root your phone the only viable solution seems to be addon-su for the moment.
To install you will need to install TWRP (follow the instructions in this link by @Dees_Troy : https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-10/development/recovery-twrp-3-2-1-0-touch-recovery-t3752399 ), boot to TWRP (same as booting to Recovery, as TWRP is the new Recovery). go to advanced -> adb sideload. Connect your phone to your PC and flash the file using
Code:
adb sideload addonsu-15.1-arm64.zip
finally reboot, go to 'developer options' and chose the desired option under 'root options'. Done.
Camera
When flashing a ROM it will probably come with the stock AOSP or Lineage camera which, just say it, sucks on our device form a quality point of view. Here are the answers found to this problem for the moment. Sadly, there isn't one solution which works for everything and everyone.
Google Camera - GCam
Photos work - Gallery works - Videos don't work
Right now his is probably the best compromise if you want something that works, easy to install, while not wanting every little gimmick (in that case you should probably stay on EMUI - The definition of gimmick). Simply install the apk.
Note : there are probably other versions of GCam that work or will work in future, feel free to inform me / us about better working versions.
Link : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Rw2lXtSHvOUalpA8YKg_kW2Xj_Gu746M/view
More information / discussion :
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-10/help/gcam-mod-mate-10-t3729078
Camera Port from the Mate 9 - needs root
Photos work - Videos don't work - Gallery doesn't work - Most filters and gimmicks work
A bit more complicated to install. The easiest way found for now is to root first using addon-su and then copy the system folder inside this zip into the respective folders using a root enables explorer like solid explorer
Link : https://mega.nz/#!7hQDhQAK!p2s7jQp9-nhp2-O1U2s2GrBB9UVBhgKDtFfHTq_CHvI
More information / discussion : https://forum.xda-developers.com/pr...huawei-stock-camera-app-treble-roms-t3735169/
V. Bonus : What to do if I am stuck / Bootlooping
Remember when I said to back up ? Well I hope you did, because if you are really bootlooped and a reflash of the system image hasn't helped. you will have to reflash the whole device, which isn't quick.
Gladly @mankindtv has got you covered with his great guide : https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-10/how-to/guide-mate-10-flash-oreo-update-package-t3716814
I hope I could help a bit. Feel free to add your own findings, simply PM me.

That's too bad, android auto uses h264 streaming codec I think. I think this issue will have something to do with hardware acceleration. Have you tried messing around with the acceleration option found in the developer options to see if it might work?

HUGE thanks to the guys that got this going like root & figuring out hybrid stocks! This thread here is just my take and customization on what they already did. Ultimately, I wanted Oreo rooted & modded, but I couldn't find a single guide. And the ROMs that existed weren't exactly what I was looking for. I wanted something exclusive to Tmobile. So I did a ton of reading and compiled it all together into a HOPEFULLY easy guide to follow. PS If you like Samsung bloatware, this is NOT for you!
Description:
EXTREMELY debloated! Nearly bare minimum, while still retaining hardware functionality. Eg, Samsung Gallery & Camera exist so we get 4k recording, and there aren't errors when we pull up the Gallery to edit, etc.
Everything possible I replace Samsung with Google
Solid ROM, very fast
There are very few options in Aroma to limit issues & repeatability. There are many options once booted up after initial setup
If you hate Samsung SW and just want a solid working ROM with very few install options to get you up and running this is for you.
Aroma installer layout is a little wonky, apologies (If anyone knows how to fix this please chime in )
This will delete all of your data! This is the only way so don't ask. Backup your data!

Meant no offensive at all, I assure you. Did I completely misunderstand the point of the xda community? I clearly gave you credit and didn't say I created this from scratch, rather pieced it together, literally what every Dev here does. I am not doing this for money. I mentioned & thanked you, which is probably how you found this thread. All I am trying to do is give back to the community. I spent a TON of time going through guides, updating what I found, creating a guide, and testing this - I didn't just rebrand it.
That said, I did use part of your work so I'll give you the choice: can I use part of your work and allow the xda community to benefit, or do you want me to remove your segment & Lanc app this comes with?
Btw see the post above yours. And shouldn't this chat be on PM? For reference, what I used from you was your apks so I didn't have to redownload & retest them and aroma script for a starting point, but the script is 90% different at this point.
Again, I did not mean to offend, but please let me know if I have your permission. Thank you
Good news! We got @Lanc-City 's blessing to continue to use his base ROM & LancControl app. This XDA community is AWESOME! Don't forget to go and check out his original Mod'd ROM: Project L s7 Google/Samsung Oreo Rom CRF1
VoLTE icon fix
Not sure if this will work for everyone. Download System UI Tuner by Zach Wander from Play Store. Once in menu, go to TouchWiz, scroll down to IMS VoLTE Icon and toggle on then off. I did not apply the fix that you have the link for above, and I was able to uninstall the app and the icon does not come back.
Hey, I am trying to use your ROM but after I flash the zip file and finish set up with Aroma and reboot, I get stuck in the boot screen where the rainbow colored X symbol is spinning. I followed the guide exactly so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Maybe my default options in flash fire are not correct? All the boxes in that screen are unchecked. Should I mount /system read/write? I just hit the checkmark and flash. Also I did hit Install Root with Interactive Governor, if that makes a difference. Any help? Thanks.

Copying/Pasting PM I sent you for others, and added some things:
Did you let the "rainbow" sit there for at least 10 min? (It should be 3-5 but who knows.) Are you soft-bricked in your current situation? If you start again, at "Install Stock Oreo:" does this at least restore your phone back to stock Oreo? If so, then try again and proceed with ALL the remaining steps again, CAREFULLY reading the instructions again & again.
Also, what phone model do you have? And I admit I haven't tested the CPU governors in the root script ; I ALWAYS chose none - I'll remove those options in the next version since I have tested them and there are plenty of CPU overclocking options once booted inside the ROM.
If you are able to restart this process and get stock Oreo back, AND chose NO CPU governors in the root script, maybe you want to either try "NO" to Google & Tmobile options just to make sure you can get Android booted- If it boots fine, then try the ROM again and pick Google and/or Tmobile to isolate any issues (things that are breaking)
Have you used ONLY what I provided, such as ODIN (version is important), etc?
Re Flashfire: Default options should be fine. The ROM script will set all the partitions, mounts, permissions, etc.
Good luck!
*Above response I guess is for overall troubleshooting the ROM, if any issues present themselves.
On another note: I'm actively working on this ROM as time allows. Trying to ease the install process, correct some issues, further customize, & improve...

So I did let it sit for a long time, maybe like 30 mins, but nothing happened. So I tried again from installing from stock and repeating each step. I'm using the odin files you supplied. Same thing. I was using install Google Apps and No T-mobile apps, and interactive governor for both situations. Stuck on boot animation screen. I did not try the options you suggested above since I eventually got it to work. So while stuck on the boot animation screen, I just ended up holding the Vol down, power and home until it rebooted and said entering recovery mode and let go before it went into download mode. From there I just wiped data, and cache, which may not be necessary, and then rebooted, and everything works. Thanks.

That's odd since the installer does exactly that. But I added this to the guide. Thanks for the feedback!
Thanks for the tutorial. Deeply appreciate the effort you put in foraging the resources and putting all the pieces together. The rom works great and all but I can't seem to get the lockscreen to display the wallpaper. It's just black lol. The adaptive clock works however. Would be grateful if you could drop a fix for this.

(Not sure why I didn't get an email from XDA for this post.) Mind walking me through the exact place this setting is? Here? PhoneSettings->Lock screen and security->Clock and Facewidgets->Clock Style->Select a style for "Lock screen" tab at top->Done? (Im able to get these to work)
BTW, Im glad you found this thread resourceful! & Im working on another one, which will be better & more original. Takes a TON of time!
Hey i have two questions, if i'm on oreo already do i need to flash base? And, does this need an unlocked bootloader?

Your stock oreo should work without issues but I always flash his stock firmware just in case(it's smoother too I think). And no, it doesnt require an unlocked bootloader.
Oh and happy modding

There are a couple ways an installer can work for custom rom mods like this: start with base then remove everything we don't want. OR: delete everything then add in what we want. This rom happens to work with the latter method. You can see why the base would be so important with the first method. (Because if we don't start with a given base then we can't predict the results because we don't know what u froze or deleted). Regardless, for expected & reliable results, I would always start with an Odin flash of stock for a rom like this. Roms like this are different than vanilla AOSPs because we strip what Samsung & tmobile brewed up, and we often then refer to it as a hybrid- as opposed to vanilla aosp which would be google only & only Samsung for drivers, etc. Hope that helps.
Btw I'm working on another rom with tmobile wifi calling working. I had to start from scratch, literally to get it working. Btw I'm curious if anyone else got it to work after the fact with a custom rom. If so, PLEASE chime in & let me know. Thanks!

[ROM]-Working MIUI 11 EU PIE for Mi Max 2 Oxygen [9]-[stable-ish]i

Android Version : MIUI-11-EU-PIE Easy recovery install.
You should be having proper knowledge of flashing Custom ROM and how to Restore a phone if anything goes wrong.
Take complete backup before taking any action based on this thread. I am not responsible for any action taken by you.
I am just compiling all the information / files available on different websites into this thread, I have patched together with cyber spit, bubblegum, and tape, for a pretty much fully working MIUI-11--EU-PIE running rom. With the help from Mohzuned. I have removed what I believe to be all of the bloat. We worked to modify a working pie vendor. Magisk v20 modified boot for root access, Just install magisk manager.
All Credit goes to respective developer/s. I request XDA moderator and or Developer of Respective files to let me know if I have forgotten to mentioned (give credit) their name in this thread. The Download Links are given directly from respective Developer/s.
You need the following two files to Test MIUI-11-EU-PIE on Mi Max 2 (Oxygen). This ROM recovery is ported from the Xiaomi RedMi with many patches and customized from various sources. This ROM maybe Stable enough for your daily use on Mi Max 2. I have access to two MM2 4/64 Global versions using a 1tb sd card one on At&t the other on Tmobile and MOST features I need are currently working.
1a. Treble Mi Max 2 Recovery 3.2.1 https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=5862345805528056270
1b. OrangeFox Recover 10
https://sourceforge.net/projects/ora...n.zip/download
2. MIUI-11-EU-PIE
https://drive.google.com/file/d/15lRb49s75rqVV0Kg8C16Eao_BuTPvBWr/view?usp=drivesdk
First step:
Start your phone into recovery and Flash a Treble recovery, if already not flashed. Restart into Recovery.
Click Wipe then Advance wipe and clear System, Vendor, Boot, Data, Cache, and Dalvick cache.
Second step:
Now Extract the Downloaded Rom files in Recovery backup folder. You should know where and how to Extract. (Use extract tool for android or pc then copy paste to recovery backup folder.)
Third step:
Click Restore and Select System, Boot, Vendor and Swipe to confirm. Wait for restore to complete. If any errors, Reboot recovery and try again. Or Mount the System, Vendor, Boot and try again. After Restore completes Reboot. Please allow 1-2 Minutes for first boot.
What works:
?
What doesn't work:
?
If I missed anything in the above, kindly let me know to include. If you make any further updates / patches that makes this ROM more stable / perfect or enables new features, please don't hesitate to message me to include in this thread.
I have an old PC running windows with 8gb max HDD at any one given time, So if you would like to make the recovery image into a flashable zip, I'd be happy to update/add it.
If you can afford it, Im trying to save for a computer from this decade, any help is appreciated

If you would like to use the boot, vendor, system, or any other files, All I ask is pass on the proper credits.
Any Others Who May Have Been Missed
Best of Luck and Happy Flashing )

Beast developer...too fast man thanks
If you will fix Camera and Torch it will be great! We are all waiting! Thank you!
---------- Post added at 06:51 AM ---------- Previous post was at 06:38 AM ----------
May be it is better to do Port from Mi Mix 2S? Camera and Torch worked on that port.
Bro.......
I cannot find the fingerprint option in the rom..?
Firstly I upgraded from the nougat rom.,it made me to suck....it booted but instantly rebooted to recovery on every boot......
Cannot find the fingerprint option ..,Cannot add the face unlock option due to the camera bug...,it's harder always using pattern/pin.,? flashlight ? issue is negligible.....
But mi cloud has no issues and working fine able to login..
Home button isn't working.,full screen guesture option isn't seen in the rom..
May be it's because of the redmi note 4x....it might be good if it's from max3 or mix2s as u done previously.,only hotspot bug majorly
You are too good bro....,you are beastly fast and tough..,???
Please fix the camera!!!

I'm not screaming "Donate!!!!!"
I do this for free for a phone I no longer use, please be patient.
Considering all sources from xiaomi are outdated, And this is being done again for FREE with modifications on an ancient netbook.
I also can now verify, I have a working modified vendor/boot image that will run gsi images, But again since problems with vendor no camera, Still working on it.
Sorry, I just asked. I understand your position and ready to test new changes
No need to wait for me to port.

I really liked this rom .. I want to use daily ... only thing that is bothering me is the home button and the camera that is not working? already have a solution? fingerprint to taste .. but you can use with the pin normally
