According to GSM Arena the camera has Auto-HDR. Android Authority review also says it has HDR processing but doesn't go into much detail about it.

Just got my pixel. No HDR video.
4K 60p is possible, but video is shot at BT.709, not BT.2020.

Mi8/8SE only having 4k 30fps? Hack to unlock?

I wonder if those specs are true. Seems underwhelming to me if those specs were to be true.
Currently I use a Xiaomi Mi5s which (after a mod) shoots FullHD at 60fps. I expected a nex gen phone to have at least 4k 60fps.
Anyway, I know it is way to soon to know for sure, but does anyone have some hopes to mod the Mi8\SE the way to make it shoot at 60fps in 4k?
Thanks for any ideas.
PS: Is it true the Mi8\SE doesnt feature optical stabilization?
What you expect for a 240€ device? OIS with 4K @60fps? The Mi8 SE is nothing in compare to the Mi8. Forget UFS, OIS, dual GPS and so on.

I was asking if the MI8 had 4k 60fps or optical stabilization (maybe with the option to lower the frames to film 4k 30 to still have optical stabilization).
So, I rephrase my question:
1. Does the Mi8 have 4k 60fps? Some sites say yes, some say 4k 30fps.
2. Does the Mi8 have Optical Stabilization at all?
3. Does the Mi8 SE have the same camera/video specs (e.g. optical stabilization, etc.)?
I already own my Mi5s which can shoot 4k at 30fps.... -_-
1. Official soirce sad:

1080p 视频拍摄,30 fps
720p 视频拍摄, 30 fps
慢动作视频,720p 240fps 、1080p 240fps
高帧率视频 1080p 120fps
2. Yes
3. No
Main: 后置 12MP ,1.4um 大像素 ,f/1.9 大光圈,Dual PD 双核对焦
后置 5MP ,1.12um 大像素,f/2.0 大光圈
Front: 前置 20MP,4合1 2.0um 大像素
The problem with 4k @60fps is you can just record few min. and the device get super hot.

But other devices can do it. Sure they cost a bit more, but that's what Mi-Devices are known for...to be outstanding. Oh well...have to wait for Mi9 or something...
I wonder if those 60fps can be unlocked somehow...i guess we have to wait for the xda devs to check out the device when released.
PS: Wait, FullHD at 30fps on the Mi8? That's a joke right?
The S845 support [email protected] and for sure you will get this option, maybe directly from Xiaomi.

You should be able to do it. Either by modifying just the media profile of the device or by modding the camera sensor libraries. However, modding libraries isn't an easy task but it's technically possible to do so if the sensor has the capabilities. If the device has a good and skilled developer community then someone will do it eventually. Also FYI, OP6 is the only new Android phone that can record at 4K on a stable 60 FPS and that's also with a 5 minute limitation. You're expecting too much bud.
Mi 8 - [email protected], OIS
https://m.gsmarena.com/xiaomi_mi_8-ampp-9065.php
Mi 8 SE - [email protected], no OIS only EIS
https://m.gsmarena.com/xiaomi_mi_8_se-9219.php
Thanks for replying. Yes, there are 2 websites online who proclaim Mi8 SE having 4k 60fps, but 95% of the web/youtube reviews say it has only 30fps. That's why I was asking, because some websites either don't know about their topic or are blatantly lying.
Does anyone know if the SE (now that the source code has been released) could be modded for 4k 60fps?

60fps recording support is only added on the latest miui10 for some devices, i think we will have to wait a bit more for updated reviews. I'm more interested in the gps for the mi 8SE since it's now selling in my country for a little bit more than the price of mi 6x.
It`s a little shame that phone made in 2018 can`t record 4k 60fps while my old S4+ with SnapDragon 800 (GT-i9506) from sept 2013 can record 4k 30 fps and 4k 20 fps also with default camera app. I ordered Mi 8 from China and phone should be here in few days.
why did u buy it?

Yeah I meant for prolonged amount of times the way you can with 1080p, I think some OEM's think it isn't worth stressing the CPU out just for 3-5 mins of 4k footage
How about Zenfone 5z? Unlimited time 4k 60fps footage?
Have you tried opencamera app ?
I personally don't care about [email protected] however, we should have [email protected]
Any news about it with MIUI 10 ? The hardware should support it. :|
I am on chines developer rom and i have FHD 120 fps mode.
But for 4k it has only 30 fps so far.

Enable EIS at 60fps?

As the title says, is there any way to enable EIS at 60fps? I know that sd855 is capable, even mi A2 records 60fps with EIS enabled. 60fps with no ois and no eis is useless. Not acceptable for xiaomis flagship phone..

Doesn't seem to work with that so called closed loop. Also they say its more for autofocus than for stabilisation. I don't know how helpful that link is.

It does do some job of stabilisation. Look at the ZenFone 6, it has no ois, yet it has EIS at 4k60. I think it's up to xiaomi to implement it or not.
You can vote here and if we are Lucky the developers will implement it https://c.mi.com/thread-2143471-1-0.html

What's the best GCam port for K20 Pro with 4K video enabled?

Well as the title suggests, I tried a bunch of GCam ports but none of them support 4K video, I'm on Pixel Experience April 7 2020 build, and can't stand the Xiaomi stock cam image/video quality, especially in low light... Any suggestions ?

Should be it is listed many places as having HDR 10+. I haven't tried but will now.
Edit yea Netflix says it is not compatible....
Quoted from reviews "One thing worth noting is that Netflix does not support HDR playback on the FE as of writing this - YouTube and Amazon Prime Video, on the other hand, do, so the phone definitely supports HDR, but it will be up to Netflix to enable the streaming support in HDR. The DRM Info app reports the phone is indeed capable of HDR10, HDR10+, and HLG playback, and it has Widevine Level 1." They need to support it. The hardware is there.

Neither Netflix nor Prime shows in HDR for me on the S20 FE. Youtube detects the display is HDR capable, but does not seem to activate HDR (e.g., by maxing the brightness). My guess is Samsung caught these content providers by surprise with the release of the S20 FE, so they haven't had time to certify the display and make sure it works correctly with their services.
try the original youtube App not a modded Version.
It does HDR for me with high Brightness.
But sometimes the brightness stutters a bit.

It is no for me. Youtube app or vanced, no hdr effect.
Edit. Youtube app shows me hdr content but brightness changes too frequent.

Hi!
This issue is fixed?
I want to purchase the device and before that I want to know if the HDR support exists on Netflix.
Can someone please share a screenshot at "App settings - Reproduction specification" in the Netflix app?
Best Regards

and the info from Netflix App an Netflix App version.
Thanks a lot @maik005 !
Samsung/Netflix forgotten about the HDR support for this device.
I will buy the device. Have nice specs for the price ratio.
Let's hope for some fix in a early future
But at least have Full HD... Better than nothing
Other than Netflix can HDR10 file be played with regular video players like MX Player and the Android stock video player?
HDR UHD 4K Demos | 4K Media
UHD 4K demos with HDR (high dynamic range), this expands the range of both contrast and color significantly.
4kmedia.org
I can play them without a problem.
But the display stays at low brightness and it does not look like HDR even with B
max brightness.
Tested with VLC and Samsung Video Player.
Now the S20 FE is on the Netflix HDR supported devices list
Maybe after a system update we can finally watch HDR content

Question Xiaomi has the worst slow motion between all the brands. Why?

As title.
My Snapdragon 888 ufs 3.1 phone isn't able to shot a slow motion video at 720p 480FPS for more than three seconds.
Is this a joke? What is the sense of a 3 seconds video?
My ancient OnePlus 6 can shot a 720p 480Fps video for 60 seconds.
Why Xiaomi is so poor in this matter even considering that they advertised the slow motion feature so much?
I think the basic camera is not great but have you tried gcam it offers better functionality or anx camera
