pixel 4a 5g signal strength problem? - Google Pixel 4a 5G Questions & Answers

hi friends
i've recently got a 4a 5g
but my problem is that signal strength is much weaker than my previous phone "mate 10"
i have 4 bars with mate 10 and call quality is perfect
but in the same place i have no signal or only one bar with pixel!
phone detects my sim and i can make calls but call quality is awful.
is this a hardware problem?
any suggestion ?
tnx

K3 Note Signal strength very weak!!

Hi,
My K3 Note's signal strength is very weak.
Me and my colleague both have the same network provider, he has a different mobile and i have K3 Note.
When i compare the signal strength randomly anytime, there is a huge difference like -66dbm(his) and -103dbm(mine).
Due to this i often feel call drops and most of the time my internet does not work, even at the places where other people are talking on mobiles, i do not have a signal in mine.
Does is it have a solution?
How it can be fixed?

Unstable LTE/4g Reception

Does anyone notices unstable signal bars on this phone? Same spot, same mobile network, my pixel 2 xl gets full bar while xz2 only hover around 1-3 bars.
This may also contribute to mediocre battery life I've been having. My mix 2s (sd845) certainly fares better in that department.
I can only compare it to Z5 on same location(basement,) which had none or 1 bar signal and no lte/4g, now i have 1-2 bars and lte/4g on xz2
I have the same issue. But it's everywhere. Not just in limited areas. Sometimes, I have LTE+ and next thing you know, it just says LTE with full bars but to internet. It's been doing that all day. might need a new SIM so I'm going to T-Mobile today.
Maybe it is a software related problem.
I had the same problem on LineageOS 14.1 and 15.1 on my Nexus 6, too.
i have the same issue with my xz2, the LTE network is unstable , sometime it goes to 1 bar or no HSPA instead of 4g , is it hardware or software issue ?
I've just tested a z3, xz2 and p8 lite 2017.
At home, weak signal sometimes, p8 has 4 bars, z3 3 bars and xz2 jumping between 1 and 2 bars.
At work, strong signal, p8 4 bars again, z3 jumping between 3 and 4 bars, xz2 2 bars and switching between 4g and 3g a lot.
Really hope they sort this.
Actually, my signal have always been pretty stable, coming from Z3. When I say stable, I mean 3 bars at LTE (4G reception in my location is still not that good, this is the location's fault, tbh). I got 1 to 2 bar(s) at LTE with my Z3.
I have noticed the opposite. My XZ2 has more stable 4G than other phones in my household consisting of iphones and samsungs and its way better than my previous xiaomi.
I get the feeling that the XZ2's signal bar is showing the signal quality rather than the signal strength. For example, when I'm in a congested area I can see that in apps like Cellmapper I have a strong signal to the nearby mast, but the signal quality is poor due to the high number of users and interference.
Overall, it is better to show the quality of the signal rather than the strength. Ultimately it's the quality that has the most impact on data speeds.
I have better reception on LTE/4g on the XZ2 than I do on my Nexus 5X, that sits around 2-3 bars and the XZ2 is constantly on 4 bars...so no complaints here ?
Same problem with my XZ2C
I get 2 bars on average on my XZ2 Compact. But it's very jumpy. When i take it out of my pocket it goes from 1 to 2 bars. No problem with other phones.
Signal Quality Issues here too
Have had my XZ2 for a couple of months and yes, signal issues galore. I commute for work on same highway almost every day and know where I would get some signal issues with my previous samsung phone but with sony its everywhere..even when I'm home its unpredictable. Sometimes I just get a voice message indicator but I did not hear it ring at all. I am aware that not all signal issues are the phones fault..the provider also is not perfect at times but I just cant help to compare it with my previous phones (many brands) and Sony falls short in that area... I was very optimistic being a nice top-tier phone, great pictures and video, the included software is not bad either, great sound from internal speakers including a nice display but fails to deliver on its most primal and basic function...voice calls. Will keep waiting for that much awaited OTA upgrade where Sony tends to this signal issue problem. If not, its off to craiglist.

mi 9 lite (cc9) network issue

hello everybody
i have my new mi 9 lite, it's great phone but i get same problem as my previous phone REDMI NOTE 7, the problem is when the network switches from LTE to 3G i lose totally the signal for 1 minute and sometimes it doesn't come again untill i switch data off for 2 minutes or switch preferred network to 3g, can you help me resolve this problem because it really bothered me in my RN7 and i don't like to suffer from it again now.
can you show me which setting here on the pic can be suitable to get rid of this problem ?!
why nobody is answering me ?? is it because nobody really knows ?!

Question S21 Ultra 5G - SM-G998B - Exynos - Problems with mobile data and signal.

Hi, I have an S21 Ultra 5G, (SM-G998B), the software update is up to date, and for a few days, I started to encounter various problems, sometimes I lose the signal altogether, I can't call, and I can't be called, I receive a message after 10 minutes that I have some missed calls, other times my mobile data does not work, it is set to 5G / 4G / 3G / 2G, I switch to 4G / 3G / 2G and it recovers for a while, then again to 5G / 4G / 3G / 2G when it has problems, to recover.
I thought it was because of the card, but it's not because of it, I changed it, and it still does.
I don't know what else to do, has anyone encountered this problem?
Thank you!
I assume that you compared with another phone at the same location, etc.
Also, get Network Signal to check what levels is the phone reporting.
If you see very low signal levels ONLY on this phone, a trip to the Samsung rep is probably needed as the modem might be fubar.
I have an open case with EE over the fact my Samsung gets 0-1 bar in what they claim is Excellent coverage indoor and outside. My son (PIxel) and daughter (iPhone) have a good signal so I'm wondering if the S21 Ultra has a signal issue.

Have terrible signal strength everywhere with my s21 ultra
I often find if I cycle airplane mode on and the off again it reconnects to 4g and is less terrible but still find my older mate 20 pro Huawei got much better signal strength everywhere than my brand new Samsung
4G Performance on Exynos S21 Ultra is waaayyy slower than an S10+ or S20+
Hi Has anybody else noticed that the S21 Ultra doesn't seem to deliver consistent and reliable 4G speeds, particularly in terms of 4G uploading. I've done a comparison between my S21 Ultra and a S10+ both on the same network (EE) and the results are shocking. The S21 Ultra simply doesn't...

Do you have better 5G reception? I had similar problem with 5G reception as my provider still working on expanding it. I am running on 4G for now.
I'm avoiding 5G for now as battery drain is worse having to keep two networks connected. 5G is data only so the phone has to keep a 4G connection for calls/texts and 5G for data.
I have followed EE's instructions: Reset network settings, remove clean SIM, airplane mode on/off, connect to the wrong network and connect back to EE. None of helped
I have the same problem as you. Any solution? I have s21 ultra exynos.
I have since spoken to an EE network engineer about my problem with the signal strength on my phone. So I opened a case due to being in an excellent coverage area but always having a 0-1 bar signal. They did various checks and reported back that everything was fine. I still had a low signal outside with a mast just up the road so they raised it up to an engineer to talk to me. He gave a better answer to my problem, I was near a mast and should have excellent cover. But years after the mast was installed Aldi opened a massive distribution centre right next to the mast and he said the number of phones connecting to the mast was very high thus reducing the signal quality. They are upgrading the mast to 5G so that should improve the situation for me. My original thought was the phone aerial was not up to much but after checking with others in the street they had the same signal problem. So it was Aldi's fault
Signal on my S21 Ultra is fantastic, Vodafone UK. I'm on Vodafone with my work iPhone Xs and the S21 Ultra always has at least one bar more.
I anticipate that you in comparison with some other smartphone at the equal place, and so forth.
Also, get network sign to check what degrees is the smartphone reporting.
Tutuapp 9Apps Showbox
If you see very low sign tiers best on this smartphone, a ride to the Samsung rep is probably needed because the modem might be fubar.
I have signal issues with EE too with s21U. Never had problems in VODAFONE UK. Glad that it is not just me on this boat.
Do let me know if any of you guys sort out this. I know it is not to do with our devices, it might be to do with a config issue either at our or their end.
Has anyone ever found a solution to the abysmal signal strength on this lemon
s21 poor signal strength
I've just upgraded to the s21 from the s10. Problem is that I now only get 1 bar showing on the signal strength most of the time (including home). On the s10 it was on 3 bars most of the time using the same network and SIM. If I swap the SIM card back to the s10 I get 3 bars showing again I...

Haven't faced any signal issues so far. I get fantastic LTE signal on my S21U, same as my wife's OnePlus 6. No issues with call quality or network speed either.
Congrats
I'm guessing your not in an area with iffy coverage then or your just lucky
Most are not
Which is quite evident if you bothered to read any of the thread I posted as an example

I'm sorry that you have problems with your device, but do you know most people? The vast majority of people who bought this phone, doesn't face any issues with the signal, so they don't go to post on forums about it. There is always that loud minority who think that everyone has this problem, just because they have it.
And it's "you're", not "your".

Question Mobile Signal Module

Hi All,
I moved over from Samsung to the 11t Pro and am loving the phone so far. A few tweaks needed here and there, but generally its a cracking phone for the price!
The only thing i do have an issue with is mobile signal. It fluctuates constantly between strong signal and no signal. This could be related to the network, but I don't have another SIM to test this with and never had the issue with the Samsung, although that wasn't a 5g phone.
I know with Samsung you could flash independent mobile modules. I cant remember exactly what they where called. Basically some would have amazing battery life, but rubbish signal and others have would give amazing signal at the sacrifice of the battery. Some where perfectly balanced.
I'm not sure if anyone knows what I'm talking about or could shed any light? I'm wondering if there is something similar for the 11t Pro?
Cheers!

Just remembered it was the modem modules! Are these available for the 11t Pro, so we can flash and test different ones to increase battery life or signal etc.?
I've the exact same issue and I can confirm that the issue is caused by some networks only because I tried multiple sim cards and I got the issue with only one network and the others are working fine, but this specific network has good coverage and works fine with other phones, is there anything I can do to fix the signal drop with this specific network?
Thanks.
