General Initial impression on Ergonomics - Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra

Being a right handed man with medium large hands I find in my first day with the phone, I immediately feel like the camera array should have been placed on the left side of the phone.
My index finger keeps hitting the edge of the camera hump and it's a bit annoying. The case I have makes it a little better but the case is somewhat hump shaped like the back of the phone so not quite smooth as my s10+ is.
How do you guys feel?

Coming from the s20 ultra, to Note 20 ultra, and from the s10+, I like the feel of this phone so far the most. I'm not sure how to put it, but it gives a very premium feel over the Note 20 ultra for sure. It's smooth, responsive, and the fingerprint reader felt faster by a long shot. Showed my GF who isn't well the most technically handy, and she even mentioned how much faster it was.
Feel of the phoner ergonomically it's the most comfortable phone I've had in a few years and It kinda surprised me. Usually I like the square feel of the Note 20 ultra, but this makes me hate the square feeling. Definitely wasn't expecting that

Very premium feel, but SUPER slippery, especially if you use it without cover (like I do).

After a while you do feel it's heavy. The only thing I don't like about it!

nope, one more thing. Taking screenshots!

I've come from the s10+ and wasn't quite ready for just how much phone there is! Luckily I've got pretty big hands but I think I'll be in the market for as slim a case as I can find.
It is heavy as well, but if it can sustain me for a day then I'm happy with that trade off

Compared to my S20+ this phone is a bit of a brick but in a good way. It's a keeper.

I was using the s20 ultra, then the s21 ultra now I think the s21 ultra feels better in the hand tad skinnier than the s20 ultra, and it`s a beast, fingerprint reader is so much faster than the s20 ultra one, everything about the s21 ultra is better than the s20 ultra except for the missing SD card, but I never used one anyways.

So another day with it and I will say its a heavy phone. Compared to what I've own last being the s10+ Going from a phone with no hump to a phone with a big hump takes some getting used to. Buttons all on right side is a plus. Samsung soft touch silicon is a great feeling case and makes handling of the phone much better. Even the S- Pen silicone case give a better handling experience then hard / rugged cases, even while being wider to accommodate the S Pen. I never had to much problem with the S10+ finger print reader and I have none thus far with the S21 Ultra. I find that less aggressively curved edges have reduce accidental touches to 0 even without a case . Also the screen curve seems to allow plastic film protectors to adhere more easily.

I think I'm going to have to re-learn how I hold a phone with the Ultra, I usually use one hand with pinky under the USB port to support but the weight and the sharp edge of the Caseology case I've got means it digs into my finger.
The weight doesn't feel as balanced as the S10+ either, it's top heavy and feels like it will topple backwards out of my hand. I've ordered a different case with grippier edges (the Samsung Clear Protective) but I'm definitely considering a pop-socket or similar as well.

Jkase Premium SGN2 case review

here's a linky to the purple because purple is a gr8 color yo
Okay, so I bought this case from Amazon for six dollars + no shipping (prime ftw) and here's what I, as someone who is afraid of short drops/scratches on back/etc., think about it. But first for a little background info. When I got my GNote2 back in March I decided to get a case (the only case actually) from Best Buy. I wanted to get a case because my hands have a problem wrapping around this specific phone and hitting menu or back while typing, and most cases fix that problem. I also take my phone to school (so it's usually in my oversized purse) but I do carry it around a lot. So anyways, I got a thick hard case with a kickstand.
A couple of days ago, however, I decided I should get a new case because my hard case had two pieces that always seemed to slide apart + it made the phone REALLY big (which may be a good thing for some of you!)... I searched "TPU Note 2 case" on Amazon.com because I have owned TPU cases in the past and have had a better time with them personally. I found this Jkase for six dollars (and in PURPLE! ) and I bought it. It came today (so I guess this is really a first impressions, eh?) and this is what I think so far...
The first thing I noticed upon putting this case on was the side edges where most people put their hands. These edges are bumpy and I was able to hold my grip much better than without the case. Another thing I noticed was that this thing is thin. I don't believe it is the thinnest thing in the world and it definitely added a tiny bit of bulk... but hey, a little bit of bulk may be good with a phone so thin already, although that's for you to decide.
The case in general is somewhat aesthetically pleasing. The purple color in which I got it is very lovely IMO and I do like how it goes from TPU to matte (???). I do know the whole texture change does not make much different when it comes to holding and operating the phone, but it is a nice change from your completely solid and IMO boring cases. While this isn't a ~Super fun~ Angry Birds iPhone case, I do like it. The only qualm I have with the general look is that mine came with the Jkase logo a bit lopsided. I don't believe it's terribly noticeable, but I feel I should point that out.
Now for button behavior. The power and volume buttons are covered by the case. I have absolutely no problem with the power button but the volume buttons do have trouble registering at times. It's a minor gripe in my book, but I know it can be a deal breaker to others.
The holes and ports do seem to be cut wide enough and I can plug in my stock Sammy charger and Skullcandy Ink'd 2 earbuds just fine. The S Pen port is thankfully wide so I can pull out the S Pen with ease.
Pros
Thin but should be protective
nice to hold, grippy textures on the side are SUPER nice
wide enough ports for my accessories (pretty run of the mill things, though)
nice color in the case of the purple
good price
doesn't feel really cheap at all IMO, if I didn't own this case I would guess it to be in between 10 and 20 dollars
Cons
logo was a tiny bit lopsided on mine
sticky volume keys at times
Would I recommend this?
yes, for certain people (people who don't usually drop their cases or like the feel of the Note2 without all the bulk of a hard case). but if you can get it cheaper than six dollars, go for it.
well that was my little review/first impressions yay!

[REVIEW] Armadillotek Vanguard rugged case for the Note 20 Ultra

This is my review for the Armadillotek Vanguard case for the Note 20 Ultra. This review will also apply to the Note 20 Vanguard, as they are basically the same case. Note I received a free review unit direct from Armadillo; however, there were no requirements for a positive review. The opinions here are my own.
Summary: An extremely high quality case that looks great, offers rugged protection, with a couple compromises. At this price point, you would have difficulty finding a better quality case. Even at higher price points, Armadillotek hold their own against the competition.
I will preface this review by saying I don't typically use rugged cases. I always end up buying one for those times when I feel I may need some extra protection, but I usually use slimmer cases for scratch protection every day.
But for Note 20 Ultra and the Note 10+ last year, Armadillotek has been my go-to rugged case for the times I did want that extra reassurance, and here is why:
The Vanguard is a high quality case at almost any price point, buy for $19, it's a surprisingly high quality case. The first thing I noticed was how smoothly the hard rubber sides blend into the protective back plastic plate. There's no noticable sprue marks or mold lines. No rough edges, or anything that would suggest this was a cheaply made case.
The fit is superb, and the corners all have an air space to act as a cushion during drops. The two piece design securely holds the phone, with no worries at all about it coming off. It can be a little difficult to install and remove, but I'll trade that for a secure fir any day.
The case covers the sides well, and offers a lip around the screen to keep it off the ground when placed face down. And surprisingly, it's compatible with many different brands and styles of screen protector for that added protection.*
The kickstand on the back is solid and clicks into place very well. The only issue is it can be a little difficult to pry up, but again, those tight tolerances seem to be a sign of quality and tight fit.
The only real complaint I have about this case is the large opening for the S-Pen. It's a bit of a double edged sword. It's nice to be able to easily retrieve the S-Pen; however, this also leaves a large gap in protection on this corner.
The other complaint is the case interferes with wireless charging and wireless power share.
Neither one of those are really the fault of Armadillotek, and are more or less necessity of the case. It needs to be somewhat thick to offer the military grade protection. And as long as Samsung continues to out the S-Pen in the corner, that corner will always be exposed and vulnerable by cases.
Interesting side note, I also reviewed a similar ruggedized case by another manufacturer. The Schnaul Titan for the Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra. I say similar, because they are almost identical, minus.a few minor aesthetic design choices. But they are shaped identically and even have the same exact inner front frame as part of the two piece case design. The wording and font style on some stickers is the same on both cases.
The website for both companies is nearly identical in design and aesthetic choices, down to the same yellow themed coloring and a stylized sillouette of their mascot (armadillo and a snail).
Both cases arrived with a photocopy of a handwritten letter, purported to be from someone born and raised in Texas; and each offers gratitude for your purchase and a brief backstory to the company. It's a nice touch, and the letters are done very well; however, careful reading detects the author's first language is not English. There's subtle nuances in the author's dialect that tells me they were not born and raised in Texas, or in the US. And there's close similarities in the word choices and phrases in the letters from both companies, which leads me to believe they were written by the same person.
Now, none of that takes away from the quality of the case, or the very responsive customer service. And the cases both shipped from Texas (both from the same city, but different address), so I can assume they are US-based. I just found the similarities very odd, and I would not be surprised at all to discover if Armadillotek and Schail are both just US fronts for the same oversead manufacturer.
In conclusion, I can HIGHLY recommend this case, if you're looking for a ruggedized case. You get the same quality as that other animal that comes in a Box, but at least than half the price.

Commercial review...?
Nope... Amazon review...
LoL
Excellent review
That type of two layered protection is excellent.
Reminds me of the Bolt case except the spen is better protected.
Customers with fat clumsy fingers complain if there isn't a huge opening:laugh:
I've noticed my 10+ wuvs to corner hit if dropped and the spen corner is it's favorite corner to land on... I replaced one case already over concerns of possible fatigue after a couple repeat hits there.

Its basically a copy and paste from my Amazon review, which I don't think is up yet. It usually takes Amazon a day or so to approve them.
Didn't see any reason to rewrite it for here.

My SPen would almost always come loose and go flying when I dropped my Note 10+. I think it did the same with my Note 9.
Not that I dropped them all the time, but like at the gym, they would slide off the bench and make a soft 18 inch landing. But sure enough, that SPen would sometimes shoot out like a missile, LOL.

The 10+ is notorious for that.
Yeah it doesn't have to be a huge impact:laugh:
I learned to look before I leaped to avoid accidentally stepping on it after a drop or leave it behind.
I go for months sometimes without dropping it but without a good case it be KIA by now.
The spen corner is the weak spot in many cases.
Is this the brand the legendary @zedomax threw off his two story roof ?
Bought one (Armadillo) from Amazon.com.
Fits perfect on the left and right side, but there is to much play in the case lengthwise and it can be even heard when holding the phone and shaking it slightly (and no this noise isn't coming from th camera objectives).
You can easily slide it with your thumb up and down in the case.
If there comes dust in the case this play will definitely scratch the sides of the phone.
Not sure if i keep it.

I'm wondering the same. They're releasing them for many of the newer phones and they're in my radar for a new case. I change cases almost as often as I change my socks.

Question Inhand feel?

How's the inhand feel, reviews are saying it's a big and heavy boy?
Hand feel is really good. Its around the same size of the note 10+ but shaped much better so it feels right even though its heavier, that lack of aggressive curves is a godsend. It does make the Z flip feel like a toy though especially once a case like the otterbox is thrown on it but somehow it does not feel like a hassle to use because its so superior to older shape. It reminds me of the olden days when we had smaller phones but threw the super extended battery mods on them so it wasnt unwieldy, just a solid brick. I was super concerned about size with cases, yet somehow my tiny hands prefer the mass of the otterbox defender pro versus slim case or the samsung leather case it just feels like a comfy brick. The matte is also perfect for running the phone naked since its not a slippery eel when put on surfaces, just throw on the spigen glass cover for back camera and let it shine.
Im glad the thin wars and glossy glass backs are reversing course, its really helped the ultra I think.

That's good, how about in comparison to the note 20 ultra?

Question Anyone using the phone with the silicone case+s pen?

Hey. Can anyone share their experience with using the s21 ultra with its silicone case+s-pen? Is it that big and heavy? Any limitations? I want to upgrade from note 10 but I am worried that I may not be able to use the s-pen properly.
I have it. Fits well adds some width but no weight to speak of. S pen works well . I use a spigen case monday to Friday for more protection as I have little use for the pen at work but use it a lot at weekend
I also have it. Back in the day I had the original Note, then the Note 3, and ultimately never really used the S pen a lot, so my next phone didn't have it. I decided to try it out again and got the pen/case combo. So far, again, I haven't used it much. I do have a Spigen Liquid Air case I can switch to if I find I NEVER use the pen, but for now I'm sticking with the case+pen to keep it handy to give me a chance to find a use for it. The extra width doesn't really bother me (previous phone was an S20U).

I have it and love it.. Good protection, no extra weight basically. If you have a pet, hair tends to stick to the back of the case. Once you put it on, you will notice how the left side is thicker than the right side due to the s pen, but the feeling of the case being uneven on the sides goes away rather quickly. If you use the spen a lot, then I recommend this case.
I have it, but the s-view cover. It's just the silicon case + spen but with the flip. I love it so much, it protects your screen pretty well.
I have the silicone case with pen. For me it proves the need to keep the pan silo in the phone.
Consider that the phone is designed to hold in left hand (since most of the planet is right handed). Clipping the pen on the left edge makes for difficult removal. My pen and case sit on the desk unused for this reason.
I am using the spigen S-pen case and have no problems case was cheaper then the combo from samsung and I like it better. Highly recommend it

Accessories Running with the S21 Ultra?

I have used a Flipbelt whilst running for the past few years - it worked well with my previous Note8 and is still in good shape. However I find the openings are quite tight for an S21 Ultra with a Spigen Neo-hybrid case and the fact that sweat gets through is quite off-putting.
Have you found good solutions that you would recommend for running/doing sport with your S21 Ultra that is big enough to house this beast in its case?
i just have in tracksuit bottom and it ok or just arm strap

I tried running with it for a few days. But found it to be too massive a phone to run comfortably with. The iPhone 6S was the perfect "running size" phone for me. Even the OnePlus 6 was manageable. But the S21U is just too large, thick and heavy for any serious running (from my perspective). I do have an arm-band style pouch that can fit the S21U but the arm complains if I use it. The avantree waist pouch fits the phone but feels wierd on the waits at is bounces around if I pick up the pace.
So unfortunately I just have to leave the phone at home when I go for runs now...
