Question Slow downloads in Playstore (speeds up after deleting data of playstore) - Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra

Hey Everyone,
my problem is - very often the downloads from Google Play are very slow. (About 300kbit/s)
When I stop the download and go to Apps --> Google Play and then delete the Data, then open the playstore again and download the same file, it will be much faster. (at least one magnitude, about 3-8mb/s)
Any ideas?
My Wifi is the same as before and my internet-provider does provide 100mbit/s, which is being realistic about 50-90mbit/s in real life.
Regards,
Maeffjus

it seems that latest ROM updates (I think I have this on all AUB* ones) is weirdly strict on background activities and cuts every one of them. my whole device acts strangely - apps not showing notification or showing them late (hours later than they were supposed to show), my apps are not updating: I have to repeatedly FC play store, then clear its cache so that currently installing app changes state from downloading to installing, than do it again to change state fomr installing to installed etc. worked fine on AUA* ones. it is really annoying. btw I tried to clear cache and dalvik/art cache from recovery, but that did not help. I have not tried factory seset yet...

I cannot download apps or update apps. Turns out its Virgin Media (UK) blocking traffic. They're sending me a brand new shiny SuperHub 4.

It seems that it was data corruption during regular OTA. Factory reset seems to fix problems for me.

CM7 nightly 240, gapps install "no reliable connection to data server"

I just installed CM7 nightly 240 on a fresh nook color. The CM7 install to SD went fine, I set wifi connection to my router, browsed the web a bit to make sure it works. Then I went ahead to install gapps, but when I want to sign into my account it complains it "can't find a reliable connection to data server"
I checked that the wifi is on and connected... the signal is strong as I'm working right next to my router... don't know where to go from here.
Help please?
(edited to say: ) I have just tried again and again... wifi is on, I can browse the web but signing into google account times out every time. Because of that I don't have access to market etc.
On your NC, can you log in your gmail account? (using web browser)
Yes I can. But signing in to setup gapps still doesn't work (same "no reliable connection" error)
Hm now I have a whole new problem... I was playing with all kinds of settings trying to make this work... somehow I did something and now the nook is unresponsive. It's on, with a screen that says "setup wizard" at the top, won't respond to any buttons or screen gestures.
Do I have any option to reboot it besides letting the battery run out?
I had to hold the power button down for a good 20 sec before my NC turned off. Then I could restart.
Thanks that helped. I was giving up after 10-15s.
But the google login/gapps setup problem persists.
Actually I think the gapps package is just not installing correctly. In recovery it doesn't give me any errors, inflates all the apks etc then shuts down. But when I get back into CM I can't see any of them (market, etc) in the apps screen.
I have downloaded the gapps packet again and went through the install procedure, with the same result. No sign-in possible and no google apps showing up in the apps screen.
(Edit: to show that wifi is on and working I'm posting this from the nook/cm7)
If you can log in into your gmail account directly from the NC then wifi isn't your problem.
It must be a Market or Google Framework. Try to clear cache and data of both and see what happens next.
But when I get back into CM I can't see any of them (market, etc) in the apps screen.

You not gonna see Market if you not successfully set up an account first.
Where are the caches on the NC? I tried looking in /data and a few other obvious places and can't find them. (/data for instance is empty)

Go into Menu... Manage Applications... select the app you want to clear data and cache for and click clear data (this also clears cache)
So I cleared data and cache for google services framework. Market had data and cache already empty.
Still no go. Same error.
Reboot yet? Give it a try
Rebooted, no go. Cleared data and cache again, rebooted, same error.
Silly me. Please someone mark this thread as solved.
I found the problem. Here is the solution just in case someone has later on the same problem. Don't disable "background transfers" before you set your google account and the market. Afterward you can disable it if you want, but if you do it before you won't be able to correctly install gapps even with a good wifi connection.
Problem solved. Thank you everyone for helping me troubleshoot. I'll now go enjoy my dual-boot nook/android tablet.
We learn new thing everyday.
Glad your NC up and running.

Extremely High RAM Usage 5.1

Anybody know how to reduce the RAM usage? My phone consistently uses about 750-800MB for System and 750-800MB for Apps. I’m usually left with about 300-400 Free which causes my phone to stutter really bad when opening a new app sometimes or when audio is playing and I get a text. It gets really bad whenever my apps start downloading updates. It was never this bad on kitkat and I have Greenify installed to try and help but it doesn’t really help. Facebook never seems to greenify either for some reason. Some help would be appreciated!
This is why I removed the main Facebook app and installed Facebook Lite instead. Well, suffice to say I don't Facebook that much so Lite is good enough for me. For the problem you are facing, did you factory reset from recovery after the L upgrade? Its highly recommended and it has helped many with similar issues. Also if the issues are too severe its recommended not to let your Google account do a settings restore after a FDR i.e. turn of Backup and Restore from settings before initiating the FDR effectively deleting all stored settings on Google servers which can also be done from Google Dashboard alternatively. If you have too many apps installed like me you could also use a file explorer app like ES to back up their apks, just don't backup any settings.

Google Play Services Error

I am getting a lot of the GPS errors. I updated am still getting it. I can not open Gmail App because of this.
And I just updated Oxygen.
Try going into apps making sure show system apps is enabled and clear these two system cache's (clear all data) on Google services. Then for good measure go to storage clear cache and reboot. After that you will need to sign back in but all apps and there data is still there. Hope that helps has done for me in the past especially after a play services update.
Never attached screenshots
Just tried the clearing and all is good. Now I need root and to Pixelize it and i will be happy.
Any other tips? made no difference to mine.... getting hacked off with the Oneplus 3T and I've only had it 4hrs! no google apps will work... music... gmail... hangouts... all say the same " google play service error" please contact the developer
I did a clean install and started over again... seems good now.
Coming from a x5 Pro this thing is dam fast!

Google Photos Problem

Hi everyone.
I cannot for the life of me get Google Photos to work properly on this phone. I have reset (both from the settings menu and recovery) and each time I install GP it either hangs on "Getting photos" or it duplicates everything or says "Getting ready to backup, XX photos left to backup" or a combination of all three.
Now the duplicates aren't on my phone, nor do i have two of everything on photos.google.com either. Looking at the information for each image it seems to be separating the one on the device and the one that's backed up.
New photos will still get backed up, so that part of it is working at least.
I have tried old versions of the app too.
Anyone else having issues or might have a solution?
Sign out and in of your Google account, then wipe data and cache on the photos app

Tried all that and stil l the same. I've read that the auto back ups can play up with photos that have been copied onto the phone from a PC. Maybe I'll just have to delete all the local files and view them in the app. It seems to work fine with new photos I take.
Same here having lot of wierd issues with note 8 which I didn't have with s8 plus. Automatic call recorder not working, Google photos same exact problem as yours, sometimes I am in call and after few mins other person cannot hear me even though I can hear them, call will continue in background for few seconds even though I have disconnected the call.
Beginning to feel frustrated and may go back to my beloved S8 plus.
Anyone else having the wierd call issue?
"Can't play video." Google Photos App on Note 8
I can't get a single video to play through the Google Photos App on my Note 8. Videos play fine through the Samsung Browser but when in the app, I get an error every single time. I've logged in and out of the app, uninstalled/reinstalled app, cleared cache, reset all app preferences, and nothing fixes it.
Anyone else have this problem? Know a fix?
I had the same issue in my Note 8. I haven't deleted any of my photos. Follow these steps
1. Unmount SD CARD and clear cache of "Google Photos" if you don't use SD Card you might need to backup all your photos to your computer and delete from your Internal Memory.
2. Clear Cache & Clear Data of Google Photos
3. System Settings -> Apps - > Find
Google Play Services
Google Play Services for Instant Ap..
Google Play Store
and Clear Cache & Clear Data for all the 3 apps
4. Open Google Photos and allow all permission and you will start seeing Getting Photos for few secs and it will start fetching your backed up photos instantly.
5. After that you can Mount your SD Card.

Question Apps won't update

I have a recurring problem that apps stop updating. Deleting the Play Store memory and cache sorts it, but only for one or two apps then it stops again. Apps either just sit saying pending or download to XX% and then stop.
report it to Google
Clear system cache.
Clear data in related apps.
Delete, recreate Google Account.

I had this issue after the first beta. I had to go to apk mirror and install the latest update for the app that wouldn't update. Once I did that the next updates that showed in play store, updated correctly.
Edit* I believe this happened because I restored my Samsung backup including apps but I could be wrong. Either way that fixed it.
Unless you're having issues with the app I wouldn't worry about it. Updates can and do break apps. I use the factory load version still after 2 years on some of mine.
Some saved app versions go back 6 years and work fine!
Google's update crap is just that many times. Trying to scare you into constantly updating.
If it ain't broke, don't try to fix it bro...
You can also use ApkExport on another Android to make an installable copy then download it to the other device.
