Do the emulators (AVDs) require SLAT/EPT virtualization to run? - Android Studio

I have a rather old PC here running an Intel Q9550 processor.
Problem is when trying to start an emulator in Android studio it gets killed immediately.
The processor has only 1st gen. virtualization (VT-x, VT-d) but not 2nd gen. (SLAT/EPT), see
Re: Is Intel VT-x/EPT not supported by Q9550?
Actually, both VT-x and VT-d are supported by the (vPro-enabled) Q9550 processor. In order for these features to be used, this processor must be combined with a vPro-enabled chipset. I see that the Dell Optiplex 870 indeed has a vPro-enabled chipset, namely Q45, so these features should be...

Thanks.

Ubuntu driver problem

Hi folks,
I just built a new computer on the cheap and used an nVidia Geforce 430 video card. The computer runs Ubuntu fine, although it is falling back into Unity 2D. I then update the driver in system settings, which should allow me to run Unity 3D and have hardware accelerated graphics. However, upon rebooting I am faced with an oversized Ubuntu symbol and am stuck on that screen. The computer won't even boot into Unity so I can remove the drivers.

What the screen should look like in normal boot:
How do I enter recovery mode from the aforementioned screen so that I can use terminal to remove the drivers?
How can I implement the drivers without running into this problem?
Thanks in advance!
P.S. I'm on ubuntu v. 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot

[Q] Wireless display HDMI : Miracast / Allshare Cast by Galaxy Note?

Will the Galaxy Note be able of miracasting full 1080p. Is AllshareCast essentially miracast?

And gizmodo's report: http://www.gizmodo.com.au/2012/09/what-is-miracast/
The powered MHL- HDMI Adapter requirement is semi-nasty, and supposedly being restricted to 720p or 1080i. Additionally according to wikipedia, the fact that a MALI 400 GPU is present means nothing for the supported display resolution.
And the real question you are probably all asking yourself at this point: "Does Note (Allshare cast) work with PTV3000 (Miracast receiver)" http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=34122364&postcount=3

Remix OS Player was working, but is now hanging on start

I installed Remix OS Player yesterday on Win 7 64, 16Gb Ram, i7 processor.
I ran it for a few hours, came back this morning to find a message about qemu had stopped working. I closed that popup, closed Remix, and now on start it is hung telling me about the bitterness of patience, the sweetness of its fruit.
Task manager shows qemu somewhat busy.

If i click "Try it now" button player is close but if i click window close button (x) player is run.
intel gen 2 does not have all virtualisation instruction needed for the player i think,it is getting old after all.
You should also make sure virtualization is turned on in the BIOS. If it is on, you may have to disable it, reboot, then go back into BIOS and enable it again. It's happened to me.
Here's what's worked for me: I rebooted the PC and then started the Remix OS Player with one cpu-core. It installed some Intel HAXM Drivers and started working.

[Q] Nvidia GTX965M overclocking issue after Windows update.

Before the latest Windows update i've never had any problem overclocking my GPU. It even stays cool (under 70 Celsius, mostly around 60C, with peaks to 65C) because the cooling from the Alienware laptops is just really good.
My preferred overclock is +135Mhz Core and +400MHz Memory because it's stable, cool and has no artifacts. It usually gives between 5-10FPS, depending on the game.
Now, since the last major Windows 10 update, right after i hit the checkmark in Afterburner to implement the OC, sometimes is instant, sometimes is after 30-60 seconds, the following error appears, either Windows just freezes.

Does anyone know what i should do? Should i try DISM? (It has an OEM Windows licence with Alienware branding everywhere, does DISM affect those?)
