Thanks for the heads up. Just updated as well, USA and using it now.

Thanks! I'm amazed Samsung bothered to put the last release out just 14 days ago.

I got the update for One UI 4.1.1, but I'm still in Android 12

Google did the same thing on the Pixels, where we were most definitely on "12L"/"12.1" but in software version it still said "12".

Okay
Do you know ho do I disable phantom process killing ? Google should've added option to disable it in developper options, but I can't find it

No, I don't know anything about that. I haven't checked on the Tab S8 Ultra yet, but on my Pixel 6 Pro, there's this option:

Maybe the "Background check" option could also help, if it exists in OneUI?

I got the update yesterday on my S8+ but after the first boot I noticed the black background on the boot branding with the white text was flickering instead of solid and once booted the image quality is way worse, like there's no contrast and a yellow filter over the whole screen.
Rebooting doesn't help and no visual related settings were changed under display nor accessibility, anyone else having this problem?

I've been using Android 12L on my Tab S8 for a couple of days, and so far I am very impressed! The taskbar is the game changer. Opening 2-3 apps on the screen was already possible with the edge bar and split screen on 12, but the process is more simplified and intuitive on 12L. The only issue is that you can't use the taskbar on Nova launcher. Samsung launcher isn't too bad but I much prefer Nova... enjoy!

Yea, reading around it sounds like the taskbar doesn't work with any non-stock launcher! So disappointing!

I won't hold my breath, but here's hoping either Samsung will provide a way to use it without their launcher, or someone provides a root way to enable the stock AOSP 12.1/12L taskbar, at least.

If you download the XXV firmware for your exact model number through SamFirm or similar software, then yes.

If you can unlock the bootloader you can flash any firmware you want. Just make sure it's the one for your model.
(your model number may be different)

Flashing stock roms shouldn't need bootloader unlocks. Since EUX is stock rom so it should be flashable anyway without touching bootloader. Because it is stock rom.
Also I'm quite sure I have seen others on here flash other region roms on their devices without needing to unlock bootloader.
Never touch bootloader while warranty is active, doing so voids it.

Okay, I assumed wrong that changing CSC (flashing EUX firmware over top of XXV) would require a bootloader unlock. My mistake! Thank you.
I'll always unlock my bootloader immediately, though. No problems for me in the past 12 years, but to be fair, it was only the past 7 years that I've unlocked bootloaders. Before that, and when I was still on Verizon, I was always using exploits to be able to root my Verizon devices. My main devices for the past 6 have been Pixels except for one brief revisit with a Samsung phone a couple of years ago.

Well CSC is only a region code sort off. But every rom for each CSC is stock rom so the device won't become bricked or having issues flashing any CSC region roms. But if you flash a custom rom that is not stock then bootloader unlock is required. Because those do not contain correct certificate that the stock roms do and which therefore becomes rejected or failed when trying to flash them without unlocking the bootloader. While stock ones will pass through without any issues.
I used to flash custom roms years back when there was a workaround where only root was needed to flash. Then bootloader could stay as locked and such, but it was due to a glitch/exploit being used under root method.

Nice:
It's amazing to see that you had the drive to make an app just for your fellow SGS4G users.
Thanks Alot FB.
I just got a Samsung Galaxy S 4G (SGH-T959V).
I went through a factory-wipe, update to 2.3.6, root, custom kernel, CM7 install, and now on CM9. It seems to work fine. Except I'm on AT&T!
I just purchased your app. I will try it out in a few hours. If it works, I'll leave a positive review here and on the Play store.

I was *not* using it on AT&T, that is why I bought your app.
The phone was locked to T-Mobile. When I put in my AT&T SIM, it asked for a SIM PIN or something.
With the T-Mobile SIM inserted, I ran your app, wrote down the number, put my AT&T SIM in, typed in the number, then it said "Network Unlocked" (or something like that).
Does this mean the device is unlocked for ANY GSM network (such as Bell or Rogers), or was it telling me that it was unlocked for just the AT&T SIM?

It should work with any compatible GSM network that uses a full-sized SIM card.
Hi, quick question about your App.
There will be soon the SGS4G Google Edition. It will be available only for AT&T and T-Mobile.
I'm from Belgium and I planned to buy the phone during my holidays in the U.S.
Do you think your app will work in this case and unlock the carrier ?
Regards.

Whoever decided to name the phone the Galaxy S 4G picked a bad name. The phone this app is designed for came out in 2011 (SGH-T959V or SGH-T959W), so it will not work on the new 2013 Galaxy S 4.
Will it work on non rooted?

I tried some other files but unsuccessfully as not signed.
Can I ask which ROM do you suggest for this t959 4g and if it support front camera?
I used to convert avi files from my cheap camera to latest space conscious mp4 h264 on the gt i9000 with official ROM CM10.1 rc5 but often with big files it just slow down, freeze and restart, which parameters of CPU and RAM should I fine tune to achieve video transcoding done? (actually Roman 10 1.5.6)
Thanks

Why no 4.4.2 yet?

Hiya.
Recently bought a genuine UK SIM-free/unlocked HTC One (M7) online. Noticed that the Android OS is still stuck to 4.3.
I thought Android 4.4.2 is now available to UK customers for unlocked handsets? And what are the improvements to the phone?
Please advice. Thanks.
Use this app to check your CID: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.tritonsoft.cidgetter
What CID does it say? For UK unbranded, unlocked handsets it's HTC__001. I got the update just fine.

Same here, I'm from Croatia and have T-Mobile De version, but still can't update.
I've contacted HTC and they removed 4.4.2. update in some places. They'll roll it out again later, probably with Sense 6. We'll have to be patient until then
---------- Post added at 11:15 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:09 PM ----------
But still, call HTC support for UK and let them check your phone (by IMEI) and tell you if you have the "good" version

Reason why both of you don't have the update yet is because your CID and software is locked to the previous carrier, meaning it's up to them to release the update, not HTC.
This will wipe your phone, but it will unbrand your phone if you follow it correctly: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2358738
This basically flashes the unbranded version of the ROM and changing the CID to one that HTC does support, so you'll get updates directly from HTC instead of the carrier.
Sorry but right now i'm not prepared to unbrand the phone as it seems to me its too much of a long & winding process. Seeing the link seems too technical for me.
What i have done instead is ring HTC. Gave them the serial number of the phone and they told me that it IS Vodafone-branded phone. They adviced me to contact Vodafone which i did. The Vodafone support person doesn't seem to have a clue to what i'm saying and seems not familiar to how updates are released. He kept on insisting (based on the circumstances i have presented to him|) that Vodafone has nothing to do with updates. Person sounded stupid really.
I tried a Three and an EE SIM card on the One M7 and it works. So far no updates yet.
I can also confirm that being an unlocked phone it has NO Vodafone branding or logo or apps or bloatware on the phone itself.
So, i'm stuck with a year old phone with a old-gen Android OS.
So...what's next please?

I have explained many times that my phone is unlocked & SIM free albeit being Vodafone-branded.
So, it still doesn't answer my question: why no Android 4.4.2 for my phone?
I've read an article that One is getting Sense 6 update today! (for unlocked devices). My is branded to T-Mobile, but I hope that I'll get the update until the end of the month
Because the software is still modified slightly by Vodafone. You may have the phone network unlocked but it doesn't mean it's software unbranded. It's still up to Vodafone to update it. To be honest, this sounds more like a second hand handset instead, perhaps the original owner got it for free from an upgrade, unlocked it, and then sold it on as he was probably using another phone.
Vodafone customer support won't know anything, they're not taught anything technical, only the network side of things, which is why they can't answer you.
Honestly, you should just unlock and S-OFF the phone, and change it to a proper unbranded model if you want to get the latest updates from HTC.

But why should i get the phone unlocked as its already unlocked in the first place as i'm able to put an SIM on it?
And what do you mean by S-OFF? Is that term called "debranding?
When I mean unlock, I mean bootloader unlocking, which is different from network unlocking and allows you to flash other ROMs.
S-OFF allows you to change the CID, which is needed if you want to receive updates for another version of the HTC One, such as the unbranded version.
I have four years of owning and using an Android phone. Never been a developer or have IT skills or been into rooting phones. I consider myself somewhere above an intermediate user and under expert level.
So, it easy to unlock the bootloader and S-OFF my HTC One M7?
WIll it almost guarantee me i'll still be able to receive the Android 4.4.2 update and (perhaps) beyond?

I've rooted and s-off every phone, but few months after purchase, when I got bored with stock.
If you are doing this for the first time, even though you have good tutorials, it still won't be easy for you. I don't know anything about rooting M7 because I have it for a week, but it probably isn't so easy as it looks like, and it will take you few hours to do it (maybe days if you screw something).
If you unbrand your phone than yes, you will definitely be able to update to 4.4.2. But you need to know that if you do that, you will void your warranty for an almost new phone.
My recommendation: since I've seen that Sense 6 is already out for some carriers in US, it will probably be available in the Europe soon. So be patient and wait for a few weeks, and you'll probably receive direct update to 4.4.2 and Sense 6.

(N910G) Lollipop for Note 4! FINALLY!

Hey guys, android lollipop (5.0.1) just got released for the Note 4, N910G variant. It is currently being released via OTA for India, Bangladesh etc. If you do not receive the OTA just flash the Indian region stock rom and set it up, then search for updates and you will be updated to lollipop. I HIGHLY recommend that you wipe data/factory reset after the update as it was very laggy after the update, until I wiped data/factory reset.
Happy Flashing :victory:!

Yeah, I just flashed the latest KK (Indian Region) and straight after setup I went to check for updates and viola it said there was an update and so I went ahead and did it and successfully got to lollipop. Just wondering now if I can flash the N910F lollipop custom roms.
Just try again and search for an update. If an update is found it is usually stuck at "Searching for Update" for about 15-30 seconds.
Flash indian stock kk then do a factory reset and then boot set it up log in to samsung account and check for updates. I too flashed stock did not do a factory rest and straight away checked for updates recieved a msg you already have latest software updated something msg.

Thanks, I tried about 30 times today but nothing came through. I decided to do a factory reset while on the Indian KK firmware and after the setup went to check for updates and it was there straight away
its out on sammobile (dont want to post a link, apparently SM breaches XDA's rules)
expect some progress with custom roms and such very soon

if its a 910G it'll work. you may need to factory reset after install, more than one person has needed to do that even on the 910F

I downloaded the full firmware but then got worried about CSC. I have unbranded, unlocked phone bought in Australia so don't want to install something more bloated. Can anyone who installed or someone from India explain if this firmware is for unbranded phones or from a specific carrier.

Turn off shutter sound from pixel bought in japan

Due to pixel was not sold I was buying pixel 5 from japan. I thought if I flash a US ROM the shutter sound (japan shutter sound law) will go away but it seems like it is still going strong even after I used Cambodia sim. It was used outside japan so if anybody able to turn it off ? or I flashed the wrong ROM
this is the image that I had flashed
11.0.0 (RD1A.201105.003.C1, Nov 2020)
It looks like from android 11 Google has made it very difficult if not impossible to turn off shutter sound on phones sold in Japan. There are a few workarounds but none are perfect
1. Root and replace the shutter sound files with silent sound. All the camera functions are retained but the phone becomes less secure and you may not be able to use banking apps or Google pay
2. Use of third party camera apps or modified Google camera app

I thought that it was from software so if we able to flash a US based rom and living outside of japan it would be able to do the trick guess Im going to wait for Gcam mode to come to pixel 5 then. Thank you

It is possible to switch it off with module for Magisk. Also there is another way... you can covert forever Japan version to European one.

Ok.
1. Unlock your bootloader
2. Boot to TWRP. Today it is test9 version and it works on Android 11 (So, downgrade if you are on A12)
3. From TWRP run (menu - install) this script: MID_Changer_v2.10-MAGISK-TWRP.zip
4. Choose GTT9Q Model ID (it is Euro Union, Australia) for changing
5. Flash global version Factory Image with device wiping (it can be A12 one)
6. Lock the bootloader. Done
Enjoy

Much appreciated for your work!
Unfortunately I'm getting a Japan Pixel6. The same trick seems impossible because of TWRP support and your patch only supporting Pixel 5.
However your patch still provided some insights. i.e. CDT partition for storing MID info.
I'll take a look on Pixel6 once I get it. Hope it behaves in a similar fashion.

Seems Pixel 4A 5G should be supported by MID_Changer_v1.02-TWRP.zip. Steps above should be enough. What I manually did on Pixel 6 is different and pretty dangerous if not knowing what you're doing.

You can not convert your japan version of 4a 5g to European one because 4a 5g has different hardware of each version: US - USA, ROW - EU and Australia, JPN - Japan.
Even if you change Model ID manually (it is possible), your phone will stay Japan version anyway and it won't help with sound in your camera.
It is possible for Pixel 5 because Japan and European phones have the same hardware - ROW (Rest Of World). Look at your screen bootloader mode of 4a 5g.
But you can switch off the sound in camera with Magisk module. You have to be with root for it.

Are you sure that they have different hardware? This is sad if that is the case. I guess I will just have to live with the shutter sound. Or I will just root in the future.

General Galaxy tab s8 ultra still on may security update

Hi everyone.
Is anyone else here with galaxy tab s8 ultra also stuck on may security patch? Since soon it's been 2 months with samsung not releasing any updates to galaxy tab s8 ultra. They didn't release any for June and now it seems nothing for July.
Hope samsung didn't ditch this series already. Unless they are so busy with android 12L for fold 3 and galaxy tab s8 series, which is what will be coming as next update instead with oneUI 4.1.1?
I'm on the second June OTA (rooted) for the XAR Tab S8 Ultra. There was one at the beginning of June and then another in the middle of June. Which region code is yours?

From my understanding, once you flash a U2-level firmware, you can't downgrade to a U1-level firmware. I have the correct device listed, right? Which firmware is it that you just received (maybe it's not listed here yet, sometimes it takes a day or two). Note, the Build date isn't an indicator for when it was released. It's usually released later.

It ends on G9 so it is not listed on that picture. I had EV4 before G9 update came and said I cannot downgrade after updating to G9 build.
Also what is difference between U1 and U2?

Interesting!
I don't think that we (or anyone outside of Samsung) knows the detailed differences between different security patch levels. There are many possibilities that we're not privy to. It could be Samsung arbitrarily deciding not to allow downgrades to a lower U-level. U2 being higher than U1, it's impossible to downgrade to a U1 firmware. When U3 comes, it will be impossible to go back down to a U2 firmware.
As far as I know, we only know that a higher level can't downgrade to a lower level firmware. Theoretically, although I don't know the caveats or details outside the typical "dirty flashing to downgrade might break some things and require a factory reset", if you're on one U2 firmware, you can downgrade to any previous U2 firmware.
According to the Windows SamFirm program, your new firmware is still level U2:
Checking firmware for SM-X906B/EUX/X906BXXU2AVG9/X906BOXM2AVG9/X906BXXU2AVG9/X906BXXU2AVG9

However, I have no idea if the possibility to downgrade at all is reserved for those who have the bootloader unlocked. It's common here in the U.S. that is how it works, at least on phones. Even with the bootloader unlocked, it might be still impossible to downgrade from a U2 to a U1 firmware.
It appears the information at the link for your device's firmware has been updated and now includes your 7/21/2022 build X906BXXU2AVG9.

That is slow for you then
Samsung has released OneUI 4.1.1 and Android 12L for the Tab S8 Ultra in Korea. I have used Frija to download it. The CSC is KOO. I have used Odin to install it on my US SM-X900 WiFi and all works. Security patch is August 1st. It is just like on my Fold 4 with the task bar at the bottom when using any app. I used HOME_CSC when flashing so I did not reset my device.
