Question Anyone else using A13 beta? - Google Pixel 7

Just enrolled my Pixel 7 in the android 13 beta program. So far so good. Anyone else using the beta? What are your thoughts?

All good here, also.

Running just fine, as usual.

Since i haven't seen any value added i decided to roll back to latest stock. Oh my...it's just 500 mb and it takes literally ages to install..

It's fine. Nothing to write home about.

I just installed it about a 1/2 hour ago. Mainly for the battery stats to show since last charge like it used to, but mostly for the Clear Calling. I make a lot of calls, and from early impressions from other users, it makes the already great call quality that much better.

Update on my call experience. With Clear Call enabled the caller sounded very muffled, and faded in and out. During the call I turned off Clear Call, and they instantly sounded like they were right next to me. I also tested it on myself by calling my voicemail. With it enabled I sounded a bit off/muddled. With it disabled I was very clear. I'm not sure what's going on because it supposed to be the opposite. Maybe it's just for loud/noisy area calls? All my test calls were in a quiet room.

Calls not registering

Its seems to be random, but occasionally people will call, they tell me rings and then goes to voice mail, but it never rings on my end. There also is no record of the call in the call log. I first noticed the last week when my phone never rang, but then I saw I had a vm. Its happened a few more times since then. Very bizarre.
Anyone else experience this or know what would cause this?

I do. So far I've been using my new phone for about a week, and in average it is one lost call per day. The problem here is that (1) I don't get that many calls, so not much statistics (2) the only person that told me that so far is my wife, therefore I initially thought that it might have something to do with reinitialization of my family plan on ATT side.
Anyhow, this is really annoying, and I'm ready to call ATT about the issue.

[Q] Q: Anyone seen these issues with Liquidsmooth V1?

I've been running Liquidsmooth for the past 48 hours or so. Love the battery life, the overall functionality and stability. Great work! Much better on the whole than other ICS ROMS I've tried.
I've seen only three issues after doing my full wipe and flash of Liquid smooth.
1) Occasional system.UI stops. Oddly enough they seem related to the quick torch setting. Not a show stopper.
2) Liquid options, enabling JIT compiler for Dalvik does not actually set the check box. Again, not a Show stopper.
3) When on a call today, I received another incoming call. During this time, I was no longer able to hear the current call. Rejecting the inbound let me hear the current call again. That one is a bit odd as I've not encountered that behavior before with any other ICS ROM. I was using my bluetooth headset at the time, so not sure if there's a Bluetooth issue that shows up during a call waiting event.
If anyone else can confirm these issues that'd be good to know, as I didn't see mention of them in the dev thread.

[Q] Nexus 6 Top Speaker Static/White Noise/Buzzing. Anyone else experiencing this?

Here's the story: My Nexus 6 top speaker is making static/buzzing/white noise. I've gone through THREE different Nexus 6 devices already and I am extremely annoyed about this. I am pretty sure the first device didn't have this issue or else I would have noticed it, but it did have an extreme battery drain issue. The second one definitely had this same problem, which was why I got this third one.
After some rigorous testing, I noticed that the static occurs when you are locking the phone with the volume on, it gets louder when your phone is below ~20-25% battery and basically whenever the top speaker turns on (INCLUDING when you are actually talking on the phone, which bugs me the most). BUT, once you plug in the charger, the static goes away completely and will never occur until you unplug.
The fact that the first phone didn't do this bothers the crap out of me because now, I'm paying for a an extremely expensive phone with a hardware defect (At least my previous iPhones never had any hardware problems...).
Is anyone else experiencing this? I have seen a few threads on XDA but nobody really replied; also, there are Reddit posts about this and something has a Google Doc Group opened, but nobody's really addressing the problem. If this is a software issue, I'd be more than happy to sit and wait for an update, but if it's a hardware issue, then I want a new phone..
I get static when my phone starts to ring or get a notification sometimes. It sounds like its lagging, loud, and heavy crackling. Im pretty sure this isn't hardware related and will be fixed with a software update
I've got it too so I don't think it's your phone.
Seems more like a lag/software issue. I too was thinking it would be addressed in a software update so I wasn't too concerned. Music sounds OK and so do my calls so um yeah.

I hear it when I'm on calls as well, which is the most annoying part. I think I'm going to swap it in one more time to be sure... It doesn't cost me any money, I'll post an update when I get the new one. In the meantime, is anyone else getting this?!
Yeah I don't get it on calls that I've noticed. Mostly system sounds when I get notifications and various apps become active like I'm getting some lag maybe? I've noticed though that this phone is so fast its nothing for me to have 20 or 30 things open in the background and not realize it so I'm not sure if that was part of it I'll have to pay attention for a few days I guess

Sounds good, is nobody else really getting this?
yes
Same issue on my side. I don't think a lot of people have the phone yet so maybe that's why you aren't getting a lot of replies. I am getting a ton of white noise especially while on a call. Its so loud that its really distracting and hurts my ears. I returned my first one because it was defective and wouldn't make or receive calls and nobody could figure it out. Now I have this one with tons of white noise and static. Very disappointed with nexus. I was expecting quite a jump from the nexus 5 and with having a defective phone from the get go with the 6... Im about to divorce the nexus brand altogether

I'm officially on my 4th Nexus 6 and to my dismay, it is still there. Going to pray that it's a software bug and hope it goes away since my 14 day grace is up. Any other insights would be great..!
I get it a little on some incomming notifications , i'm pretty sure its not the actual hardware though , playing music or youtube videos doesn't have any distortion or noise.
Mine was a hardware issue: see post form this thread... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=57362399

Thanks for the update! I don't believe our issue is the same as the one you documented on your video. My speakers work fine and don't crackle that way during normal use and it is only the top one when you put your ear close to it or if you are in a quiet room (which I am, majority of the time when I'm at home).

I would say that's under warranty for a replacement. Have you tried it in safe mode and experienced the same issue?

Yep, I tested it out of the box stock everything right when I got to a quiet location (my car). Put it into safe mode, still heard it.
I seem to be getting the similar issue as @wilson289 which is static in calls but nothing on Audio, youtube, music, etc. Only some of the stock Notification tones as well as lock screen.
Sometimes when I lock the phone the static sound lingers for 3-5 seconds.
Called in for a replacement, lets hope its ok. My device is perfect otherwise so I dont want to end up with a more crappier phone.

Any update? I think I have the same issue. Noise specially in low battery
Same issue for me. At first, I only noticed it on incoming texts/notifications. It would sound like the notification was "jammed" and was slow to come out (if that makes any sense) and it would be crackly . Then I would test it on a ringtone or video and the speakers would sound ok. The other night, I noticed a periodic white static noise coming from the phone, lasting for about 1 second and occurring every 2-3 seconds. Phone was at <10% battery at the time.

I'm on my 4th Nexus 6 and still have the same issue. My 14 day grace is over now and so if I wanted a replacement, I will probably have to do it through my device's standard 1 year warranty. I figure to wait a few months before I go in for a new one so that they will have it in stock for sure.
I had static on my first Nexus 6 but not my replacement.

Called into AT&T for a warranty replacement, they are sending me a new phone, will keep you all posted. If this 5th phone is still ****ed up, then I will just admit defeat and accept that it's a software issue... Might even get to the point of selling the phone and going the direction of the OnePlus or back to Apple (don't shoot). Will keep you all updated.
same issue for me.
sound cracks sometime (especially ringtones and notifications)
and when the battery is low (less than 15%) I have curious noise coming from the device

Nexus 6 Ringtone

Does anyone else here have a problem with the ringtones and alarms starting out in super low volume and gradually increasing in volume? Is this a lollipop bug?
Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
it's not a lollipop bug, it's a Nexus 6 bug. ringtones and notifications don't do this on my Nexus 5 running Android 5.0.1.
it's a feature.
I'm pretty sure this is a feature. I'm on mobile, but if someone wants to research Lollipop changes, I'm sure it's somewhere in there. If it isn't it might be a bug.
I know I actually like it for things like alarms in the morning. I wake up less ragey.
Seriously, it's a feature. Apparently it isn't optional like it was on my S4.
What kills me is the fact that switching from regular handset during calls to speakerphone also has the delay in volume, which is just... really really dumb. I have to say "ok wait wait hold on a sec .... okay, yeah okay, keep going" every time I hit speakerphone because I can't hear anything for several seconds. Who the hell thought it was a good idea to delay a speakerphone during a call?
This is a bug in android in Nexu 6. All other Nexus are just fine. I Hate it too. We have to wait for na update.
It's not a feature cause even in games like clash of clan or Brother in arms, after a while (like just 1 hour of idling => No notification or call so basicly no things that used sound) go to one game and you'll hear the sound going from low to high..
It's clearly a bug ! and a annoying bug !
I actually like it because it's so quiet at first, nice at work or grocery store where you don't want instant loud. Vibration isn't so quiet. It'd be really nice to be able to adjust both separately. I hope Google gives us the choice.

This x 1000. If that's seriously a "feature," that's an even bigger fail than it simply being a bug.
Someone on another thread stated that this is a bug that was caught during the soak test but not fixed for launch. Take it with a grain of salt.

After some of the other answers in this thread, it gives me hope this bug will be fixed in 5.0.2 or whatever the next update is.
This is a shame, indeed. If I had read about this before, I probably wouldn't have purchased this phone! My previous one (Gnote II) had the same issue/feature, but installing the free app "Disable Increasing Ring" took care of it. Unfortunately, it has no effect on the N6. What did the developers think about, when implementing this crap without the choice to turn it off? Will I be forced to install a different ROM, just to get a normal ringtone behaviour?
This truly SUCK!
:crying:

Call quality

When you call granny, does she keep saying "Huh?! Wut?!" or does the conversation flow pretty well? Rate this thread to express how you feel about the Google Pixel 2's call quality. A higher rating indicates that calls are clear and crisp, and that regardless of background noise, you can hear the other party clearly (and with ample volume) and they can hear you.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Terrible, constant high pitch sound always present when screen is on and a clicking sound that is like a clock. Always the same rate and always present even during calls. RMAing my Pixel 2 and my wifes Pixel 2 for the same reason.
My Pixel 2 has the same type of problem. When you are on a phone call and using the phone against your ear, you hear digital interference noises and ticking sounds. It is so very annoying and unusable.
I heard that turning NFC off help this for the 2 xl
I made one call today from my house and didnt have that problem but my NFC has been off since setting up the phone. I am on Fi and wifi calling as well. One off thing though is I did pair the device up with my Jeep and was playing pandora when a call came through over bluetooth. My Kenwood receiver picked the call up and immediately maxxed out the volume, the beep was loud enough to crackle my aftermarket speakers. Scared the **** outta me. I just immediately hit end call and dropped the volume down. I wouldnt doubt his very well may be an issue Kenwood though.
No issue here with call clarity. Maybe a small step down from my Turbo. But if there is one thing Motorola always nails is their radios.
Side question though, should these phones have a Face Sensor that locks the screen while on a phone call? Mine isn't locking and I was doing all manner of crazy things when my cheek touched the phone.

A little google searching suggests there's a link to Adaptive Brightness. I've re-enabled AB and will see what happens today.
Call quality seems to be good, but I have noticed an intermittent high pitched electronics whine. It's not on every call and not on every call with every person.
It's not a *fix*, but I find myself making and receiving actual phone calls less and less. These days just about every app has a high definition VOIP option available, so I find myself using that a lot. Hangouts, Messenger, Signal, etc. If you're making a lot of business calls daily or talking on the phone a lot with someone over a traditional voice call, I could see it as a dealbreaker. But moving forward, if there's a slight bug I can live with, some minor electronics whine over a legacy communication channel would be it.
I noticed the same problem from my pixel.. I was on a voice call using the Duo app, there a very low volume static clicking sound. I turned off NFC as this thread suggested and the clicking noise goes away; however, there's still some static noise. I wonder if this is a hardware issue...
Can any of you tell us where you got your GP2? Is it a Verizon Phone or did you order it from Google Store?
I just noticed this issue today, it is in line with the rest of your comments ("clock ticking", interference sounds, etc)
I have a Verizon Pixel 2, but I do not think it is limited to their phones. Hopefully Google is able to patch the issue in a future software update by disabling whatever is causing the issue during a phone call.
I assume a software fix will resolve the issue. It would be shocking to go to production with such a glaring problem.

Is the Pixel XL screen burn-in not a glaring problem?
Is anyone else having an issue where you place a call and nobody can hear you on the other end?
Just got my Pixel 2 XL Black last night, No clicking or Buzzing sounds. Call quality is clear. Speaker is bloody loud had to turn it down VS my original Pixel XL.Side Note NFC is on I use NFC daily.
My Pixel2 from google store works perfect. No sound issues. In fact better than my Pixel. The signal at my home left my pixel constantly jumping onto wifi, now I have bars and never goes on wifi. Using Verizon pre-paid.
Tried a GSM call today (Pixel 2 to Nexus 5X) and it was fine. Nothing wrong / Nothing special.
Generally I use VoIP that works also good.

Same issue, AND the beta didn't fix the annoying clicking sound either.
