Question Galaxy 5 pro golf edition - phone needed for gps? - Samsung Galaxy Watch 5

New to the watch scene. I purchased the galaxy 5 pro golf edition watch. Quick question. Do I need my phone within bluetooth distance for the watch to give me gps distances? ie. is the watch actually giving me distances from my phone and not directly from the watch?

Yes the watch has a built in GPS and as long as you have a sport active which tracks your GPS position, it will give you the total distance. The GPS data processing algorithm on the watch is not that good tho. But since you would be playing golf in an open space, it would be probably quite good.

Jogging with the Kaiser

I'm a runner (10K is my fav) and always put the sim into an old slim nokia for the running, enjoying mp3 and phone availability.
the kaiser (tilt) can give me this plus using the gps for online info on speed, distance and so (even when i use my polar s625x).
can you tell on your experience running/jogging with the kaiser in aspects of:
where to hold it (as it is quite heavy and bulk)?
what gps sport software do you use?
and what headset best serve you while running?
- In my pocket
- GPS Tuner
- Not usually listening to music

Please comment on GPS and DAC

Can current users comment on GPS locking speed and accuracy of the Vivd? I have Inspire 4G now. It's good for most parts, but sometimes during overcast and rainy days, it can be unreliable. Yesterday I came to NYC and walking between tall buildings made locking quite difficult. I'm not sure what kind of GPS chip the Vivid has. I know the galaxy sII has amazing GPS with the SifiII chip.
Also how is the audio quality through the headphone for everyone? I'm kind of an audiophile, so having good DAC like the Wolfson in the Captivate/Galaxy S I is important. Thx
GPS is much better (imho) faster & more accurate.
Sound via buds or Jambox is very good, using either the stock player or PlayerPro. But then again I'm old and ears are worn out a bit.

GPS and Mapping Programs
I have done limited testing of the GPS with Google Maps, Backcounty Navigator and CoPilot 8 on the Vivid. I found the response good. With CoPilot, when I reached an intersection, the GPS showed me at that location. Google Maps and Backcountry Navigator both had me about 40-60 feet from my actual location in one test I did where I was standing still in an open location.
I found the GPS quick to start up. The applications had fixes in 15-20 seconds.
coming from the samsung galaxy horror, this gps works faster than my tom tom, its accurate from 30-50 ft, i would say this gps is one of the best i used on a phone.
DAC quality sound just as good to galaxy S, which i find was amazing for a phone when i first got it.
HTC did a fine job with it

[Q] Best OS/variant for use w/ Nexus 6?

Hi all. I just bought a Galaxy Gear cheaply and it has the latest (MK7) Android revision on it. I downloaded some Gear Manager and other APKs on here to my Nexus 6 and managed to get it to pair, but I do not get weather or dual city clock face functionality. Also some app keeps crashing on my phone after certain events, like hanging calls up. I think it was called GoManager. My phone is rooted but my watch is fully un-modded.
Which OS is the best thing for me to get the most functionality out of this watch given that I do not use a Samsung device, and especially that I use a Nexus 6? I heard of Null, and of course Tizen. Also TizenMod. What should I do to have the best experience & where can I find an up to date guide on what to do with my watch, phone, & PC? I was hoping to have at least a watch face with the weather, my notifications, & syncing of camera snaps from the watch over to my phone (bare transfer every X minutes is fine).
Thanks so much.

[Q] issues with screen mirroring

OK, need your help here, comrades. Got my hands on S6\S6 Edge version of Gear VR. But I have problems with screen mirroring. Tried:
-Pairing with Chromecast. When I use the phone only - everything works perfectly, but just as i'm plugging S6 into the helmet (or glasses, not sure how you peeps call it over here), everything works for 5 seconds, and then picture freezes (on the TV)
-Pairing with TV using WiFi Direct - doesn't seem to work at all
-Connecting via MHL (which Samsung dudes claim to be working, but it ain't)
-Sacrificing chicken, dancing around the TV, screaming "CTULHU FHTAGN!" for an entire hour (doesn't seem to work either)
An interesting symptome - phone was downloading bunch of updates, while it was - everything worked slow (I mean mirroring), with lags, but it was working. Just when everything updated... (see "pairing with Chromecast").
Any advice?
I have the same issues with my chromecast, when i had the note 4 with the gear vr it worked perfect, now i have the s6 edge with new vr headset and picture is delayed and freezes and if you play a movie on oculus cinema it just shows a blank screen on tv. This sucks because i want my five year old daughter to play and i cant direct her on what to press to watch or play games

so, i'm not the only one facing these problems? Good, together we'll find the solution. Maybe you have tried anything, that i haven't?
PWNED
Managed that bastard. Used mirrorop sender for Galaxy and mirrorop reciever for my laptop. Resolution is crappy - but at least it doesn't lag. PWNED!

Is there a Samsung watch App that in realtime exchanges the GPS track to a Samsung (or Android) smartphone?

Anyone know of a hiking GPS tracking app that runs on Samsung watch Active 2 and uses Active 2 or 3's hardware GPS, but it allows the track to be shown on a large screen Android/Samsung phone in real time (Not after the activity is completed)
I have tried both Locusmaps and Samsung health app which runs well - Locusmap does not use GPS hardware on the watch (it uses GPS from phone), and Samsung health app does not export track in real time to phone screen.
