Swarmed by threads! Help please! - XPERIA X1 Android Development

Hey guys, there are just so many threads, with no links, little info, etc.
Can anyone direct me to a fast and stable rom that I can play sudoku on, play music, and have no problem texting and calling people? Those are the only 4 things I need!
Android, WM, w/e you guys think is best, please help me out!

You can do all that on WM. You don't need Android for those things.
WM offers better battery life and stability than Android on X1.

Which rom gives me highest speed and responsiveness?

In the past week I've discovered this forum and tried various roms (I feel like a kid in a candystore).
I've come to the insight that what I value most is speed and responsiveness (reaction time to finger touching, starting up apps, etc..). I'm even willing to sacrifice functionality.
Panel-wise, I'm happy with the SE provided SPB mobile shell. (SPB 3 is better, but slower).
I would love to receive suggestions which ROM (WM 6.1 or 6.5 based) would give the highest speed/performance.
Thank you in advance for any input
stock rom
The same ol' question which is best?
There is no such thing. This is getting boring now, you'll just have to search, install and test the roms yourself and find the fastest one. No one will answer this question for you, I might be wrong though but I have seen questions like this many times on short and closed threads

Hmm, I find your response a bit harsh and unfair. Note I didn't ask for 'which is best' because that is of course completely subjective. Speed/performance is, however, objectively measurable.
And yes, I (tried to) do my homework. Looked at 100's of posts, performed forum searches and installed various roms (Itje's Touch-IT Xperience 10.4,
Wild Child's stock wm6.5, gtrab barebone wm6.5,...).
Can you be more specific? You're asking quite a subjective and open ended question.
It's like me asking, "What's the quickest and most responsive car?"
Quickest at what? rally course? 1/4 mile? Most responsive turn in? throttle control? Domestic? German? Japanese?
How do you want to measure speed? Benchmark? Boot up time? time to open an application from home screen?
You're probably better off asking "is x better than y in these following criteria...(a, b, c, etc.)"
You'll get a much more concise answer, rather than everyone's personal opinions.
every people has different answer

i'm a business user. i use the phone for making calls, and taking calls. i talk a lot on the phone and use sms on it. for emails and surfing and 3g and hsdpa i use my featherweight laptop. i can't do my kind of work on a small screen (even though i could surf and email on the x1).
i tried a lot of rom to fill my particular need. so currently, Touch X 6.1 works best for me. far better than other ROMs that i've tried. very fast response, minimal lag in calls, and long battery life.
it has no landscape dialer, broken media panel image, and a few very minor bugs. i don't mind, i don't care. for my usage, it's faster than Touch X 10, 10.1, 10.2, lite roms, WM 6.5 roms etc etc.
so i'm sticking with this ROM for, erm, forever.
and p/s: this forum is quite, somewhat, has a bad user attitude. if you don't wanna reply, don't flame. just ignore. don't wanna waste your time? don't even read the replies.
i'm well active in other forums and currently XDA has the worst attitude. i associate this with user age group. i guessing most users here are kids and teenagers.
I personally like gtrab's w6.5 pure edition. It's stable, fast, and not so much bugs.

well put. Thanks for the useful reply. I agree with your take completely.
I valorize speed and responsiveness too, and I must admit that Touch X Ultimate 10.1 (Smaberg) is excellent from this point of view (and many others too ).

Ejat, thank you for your response and advice. Your user profile appears to be very similar to mine (I do try to do email on the X1 as well however).
I will try Touch X 6.1 this weekend.
Thank you again

I'm not being harsh at all, I have seen people with 2 posts ask the same question every time and the thread just gets closed. How exactly do I know you have done your homework and looked and installed a lot of ROMs like you said if not even in one you said thank you to the poor fella that took time to cook it? Not even reported a bug or anything?
It's just a bit suspicious isn't it?
Normally people that ask this is the people that wnt all their work done for them. Now that's unfair don't you think?

Thank you for your response. I tried this rom and while nice from functionality point of view, it is slower (in my opinion) than stock wm6.1. Hence, not for me.
smaberg 10.1 is the best one - i have tried most.

Wm 6.5 23016
All WM 6.5 ROM's 23016 are definitely faster and snappy than most. I've tested two of the on the forum and am surprised with their response

Give this rom a try...the best (imho) Win 6.1 I've tried...stable, fast, very responsive...no issue that spring to mind. It stopped me from selling my X1 after installing this rom.

I believe that's a fairly valid question, and might have been better to post in one of the Android for Rhodium threads, but I don't see the need to post such a useless reply glcK23...
On topic: I think Android would offer the TP2 better performance than the current WM6.5 builds, but there's still plenty of work to be done on the current porting project for the Topaz/Rhodium. And by the time a stable version of Android is available for us, we probably won't be far away from Windows Mobile 7. The chefs here making WM6.5 ROMs do a fantastic job at giving us great performance. I love my TP2 for what it can currently do, I'm not fussed about Android at all.

Yeah, it's pretty fast considering it isn't even fully using the GPU yet. It may be an early port still, but live wallpapers (my favorite is Star Field) run flawlessly and there's only a bit of lag. You know, you can always try it for yourself...

hmmmmm huge point there aight then im just gonna wait for wm7 lolz thx for your thoughts
I'm not sure it'd offer better performance to be honest (compared to a TP2 running Sense 2.1, not the very cool but slow and buggy 2.5).
I had a T-mobile Pulse for a while, and it has pretty much the same internals as the Pro2 & did not perform much better, and sometimes a lot worse & needed a restart to speed things up.
I'll be interested to try Android on the Pro2 again once it becomes useable (and it's getting there fast).
There's so much about WinMo being outdated and rubbish compared to Android & Iphone etc, but I don't really agree - set up correctly you can do the very same tasks just as well as on the other platforms, and sometimes WinMo is better. Only things missing are a vibrant application store & compared to the Iphone, the snappy performance opening apps etc.
Oh, and if you want Android and a device with a Keyboard & WVGA screen, you could always get a milestone?
I had the G1 and Mytouch since before they were released. Now i have the touch pro 2.
Both have positive and negitives just like anything. Android does slow down after you load it with apps..
But considering the touchpro 2 is the same specs as the HTC hero (unlocked) I would think it could run the android Sense really well.. IF it was built for android
Trying to make a phone run with a different OS than it was built for regardless of specs, will take a long time to perfect.
Just do what i do, Buy a phone, use it, than when your board sell it on Ebay. Than buy another one, I'm onto the N900 next.
Have fun.

Fastest, most stable and with the least amount of bugs. Which rom?

Which cooked rom offers the best stability, speed and least amount of bugs for a T-Mobile HTC TP2? I'm new and would like some opinions. Thanks!
It's COMPLETELY OPINION!!! Only YOU can decide which ROM is best for you. Hint: Sort threads by view count. PLEASE do not create new threads for inane questions that have been asked at least 2.7 million times in the past. I'm not trying to scare you away from XDA-Devs, but once you have spent a little time here, you will be just as annoyed by these posts as the rest of us.
True stability in WinMo is a pipe dream, due to the fact that the OS is constantly being hacked to death by the tireless dedication of ROM Chefs, and other programmers. I mean that in a good way. Sorry your thread will be locked within a day or so..

Hopefully I didn't annoy others. Sorry folks.
If you are looking for stability instead of eye candy then go for the ROMs without HTC Sense. I know it looks good, makes you feel good when you swiipe left and right and up and down, but the fact is that as soon as it is disabled your battery life will improve, you will have more RAM to run different applicatons, and the device will not get bogged down. I bought the Touch Pro 2 because I like Windows Mobile. It works. The Touch Pro 2 is as powerful a device as I could ask for running WM or really anything else. HTC sense is just a VERY in depth overlay. In the end it is an application which takes up processing power, memory, and reliability. I am currently using the Cell Evo V6 with NonSense (I like that and the two Royal Physicians I've had agree...haha!! I named this drink!!) and the battery life has improved drastically, as has reliablility, and my ability to mutitask.

Hopefully the thread is not locked. It is a completely reasonable question to ask and it would be absolutely wonderful if members were a little nicer to people who are obviously new and requesting a little guidance. I don't cook ROMs. I don't often come up with great solutions to problems with a ROM and put those solutions into little .cab files for everyone. I don't write applications. I've only donated to a few ROM cooks (maybe three or four maximum) since I have been a member here. One thing I can do is offer a little advice and assistance to those who do not even have my limited experience...those to whom I have something to offer. Why not try this?
To get back on topic though, I might as well try to answer the question a little better than I did last night. I had an excuse then!
I have tried pretty much every ROM for the Rhodium and I found myself really enjoying the Energy ROMs but encountered a few bugs here and there which gave me reason to try something else. I really like those Energy ROMs but I always feel like I am waiting for the next one so I can get rid of a problem on the one I'm using. I tried the latest ROM from Ark666 and I really like that one. It appeared to be very stable and it just looks good. I'm not referring just to HTC Sense but everything really looks nice. However, when I disable the HTC messaging client there is no MMS option and I couldn't get it working so I gave the Cell Evo a try. Everything seems to work and it has been rock solid. No freezing or sluggishness.
I have gone back to the defaut Windows Mobile today screen instead of HTC Sense and right now I am using just the basic original one. After a restart I have about 110mb of free Program memory this way and getting to new messages, opening the calendar, and so on is so much simpler and quicker than with HTC Sense.
Windows Mobile is great...I really like it. Instead of covering it up with all that extra graphical distraction why not focus on tweaking what is already there and making dedicated applications that are of greater use?
I have to agree....Best ROM used so far is The cell pro series v11.
Cell pro series but the 21xxx series windows mobile build ones. Also the energyrom Sense 2.1 ROMs, also 21xxx build version. Both are really fast and stable, love them both equally, hard to decide between them for sure.

[Q] Which is the best rom for...?

Well First off I gotta say some of the things here are pretty damn super.
But the thing I find is most of these roms take up too much battery all too quickly, even when i barely use my phone.
So which rom should i try and stick in order to maximise my battery life?
Quick response would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Well, the question is what you really want to have in your ROM and what is obsolete for you. Eye-candy needs power....
Switch of all automatic Facebook, email, weather, stock, twitter etc. updates, switch off 3G, dim the light and use wifi only when necessary - this will increase your battery life significantly.
And you might try the link in my signature as well.
I'm not an expert but according to my experience for cooked ROMs,
- Xara & Vision and (this ROM is similar to Jeperlea's) is very good bettery drainage but the HTC Calculator annoy me very much. Anyway, -Jeperlea has been back to continue his ROM, but I really feel boring of his ROM's inconsistence
- Russell Eclair's, his ROM is also very impressive for me, unfortunately his Final ROM has some trouble in the first usage. Over all, like it.
- SGXU XPERIA UNOFF, like this ROM too, unfortunately some program isn't working properly.
- 826X-peria, some version is great in battery drainage and performance but some isn't. This ROM is also stopped due to stolen willyung's gadget.
The worst; Energy ROM, I dunno know why people flash this **** to their phone because it's the worst ROM I've ever used. Good interface (Kinda boring), but really poor performance, u can't use this for daily used.
Sorry to the OP for slightly drifting off topic.

Well, maybe because not everybody acts according to your standards.
I won't go through all the "fantastic" ROMs you listed above just to verify whether Energy ROMs are that bad or not. It's just strange that you kind of recommend ROMs which obviously have problems running at all and contain annoying software.
><(((ยบ>
I am happy with Energy, it is way more performant than others I tried before - and it just works out of the box.

[Q] need help with hd2 pls...

hi guys
i am a new hd2 (t mobile, unlocked, original rom) user.
pls advise on the following issues i have,
1. battery barely lasts one day. is this a problem with all hd2s or any problem with my battery?
2. i compared mine with another hd2 with the energy rom. and that one seemed to be much more touch friendly and smoother than mine. is this due to the rom? could the screen guard i m using be affecting touch sensitivity?
thanks
1 a day is about right. Its not a great battery and its a hungry screen., you will get used to it, and learn how to manage it.
2 in most cases cooked roms will knock stock into a cocked hat in all respects, and the rom you mention is one of the finest.

A good experience with WM does require a user with some skill or motivation to set it up well.
The reward can be an amazing mobile experience that makes Android look outdated, muddled & functionally crippled.
