Well, apparently the display is WVGA. So it's 800 x 480, so not a standard Sensation screen size. So XL ROMs will need to be resized to work on qHD Sensations.

I noticed how that thread says its a 1.5Ghz Single Core proc

Nope, 2.08 is for the Sensation, hence the RUU being called Pyramid and being qHD

They just keep burying the OG Sensation. Im ditching mine anyway for Sgs2 anyway. That's the best version Of the sensation so far

Really? Bigger screen with a lower resolution than the original Sensation? I'm MORE than happy with mine

A 4.7" display with WVGA standard resolution? No thanks, i would not like a phone with a display wich looks like an ancient mosaic... i'll stay with my high def sensation

What the hell were HTC thinking???! This is just lame.

It seems like no dual core either hence why it can't record 1080p videos, only 720.

What the EFFF???!!!
Why do they keep dissing us REGULAR Sensation owners? Why not finish what they start? They ought to be FIXING this phone FIRST! I swear, this was the first AND NOW LAST HTC phone I ever get....Id love to have that new Nexus phone coming out...
They ought to hire the CM team and some of our other DEVS from now on to make their phone the way it should be...I still feel our Sensation will smoke everyone else once it sees TRUE dual core support. Ive seen some completely stock sensations and they look like a POS compared to the heavily modded ones we have here. Thank GOD for the devs here!

Do you really think the XL is better than the Sensation? I think HTC are going backwards with this new handset - just to cash in some more with the whole Beats thing.
Sense 3.5 is definitely a step forward, the stock kernel is flying

exactly! they pushed in a single core with a lower display capability so it will be faster and would sell faster than our sensations. reason is, *KACHING!*
"don't go with the flow of the water, you have your hands and feet, swim!"
well, thats what HD2 owners are doing, and they're still surviving.
thats just it, when youre into technology and you buy something new(gadget), you should be prepared to have what you bought "OLD" in just a couple of weeks or so. its always fast paced either it would be faster, stronger, longer or w/e, its just innovation to take away our money!
you can't see greatness in a gadget, its how people innovate what is already there. or i might be wrong because our devices are so powerful! lol

I didnt mean to say that the XL (Or the XE for that matter) is better than ours. I meant as in why they are spending their time screwing around with other sensations rather than fixing the issues we have with ours (dust, drivers, ect).
Matt

I don't have said issues
Never had dust under my screen, Sense 3.5 is solid as a rock for a test ROM so if this is what HTC are releasing then I'd say they've done their work

Any way us stock sensation users can get the new HTC clock widget (4x1)?

htc sense port

I've Just seen somewhere on this website about some people porting HTC sense to the Samsung galaxy S. If this is the case, is it possible to port HTC sense to the galaxy tablet?

I suspect it would be much harder to port to the Tab since it is a higher resolution than all Sense devices.

so if i want to buy tab i have to like touchwiz?
most of the tab users dont even use touchwiz any "mo"
if people wanting sense, so be it
different people want different things, if there's something could be done about it, there's nothing wrong with having lots of option for the tab we love
It would be great to have sense in the galaxy tab.

Agreed (I am a big fan of it). Although honestly with a higher resolution and more screen real estate Sense makes.. less sense It's a great interface when you have a small screen, I doubt it's really useful with a bigger screen (you can organize your home screen better)
Just my 2... cents
I like Sense, but thats why I got my Desire. I wouldnt like it on the Tab though.
Kudos to whoever can port it though, as youll have a hell of a challenge doing so.

Bwahaha.
Um. No. Looking prettier != better.
My HTC Hero had Sense, I put a MoDaCo ROM onto it instead as it was approximately a metric ****load faster with nigh identical functionality, it just wasn't quite as eye-candy infused.
By the same token, I _could_ run a HTC Desire port on my N1, but it gets a MIUI ROM instead, as once again, similar functionality, faster UI, smaller memory footprint.
Personally, I think Samsung have done a surprisingly good job with their custom apps. The widgets are sorely lacking but LauncherPro+ (which I own anyway) makes up for that.
sense
sense on this screen size would need some work, all the widgets would look too small at the usual resolution ( 800x480 ) that sense uses for most devices.
this could be ok though, you might be able to fit more widgets on each screen, or may be the widgets would all ends up huge and look silly, if that did happen i suppose we could use LCD DENSITY CHANGER to scale it back a bit.
in short i would love to see a desire-hd port for the tab, i probably wouldnt use it as my daily rom but its always fun flashing new roms and having options,
"ps, anyone else tried lcd density changer on the tab set to 180dp , with ADW or launcher pro set to a grid of 8x6 , looks brilliant and uses the screen space to best effect"..

Incredible S

I love how sexy my INC is but the new incredible S is, well wow. No specs as far as I can tell yet but the landscape hardkeys are worth it already.
http://www.engadget.com/photos/htc-incredible-s-first-hands-on/
Android central says it will sport a 4 inch WVGA super LCD display, rear 8-mp camera with HD capabilities, a front-facing camera, 1GHz processor and a whopping 768mb of RAM! The battery is also bumped up to 1450mAh
Of course with sense 2.3.2 too.... HOPEFULLY with a little gingerbread action?
I was thinking about getting the thunderbolt because I thought they were scrapping the incredible to make bigger phones but they answered my prayers! im waiting for this incredible S!
EDIT: actually it kinda irks me if it really comes with only 1.1GB of internal storage...
Definitely no gingerbread action on an HTC sense phone, probably won't be for a little while (OEM, xda is a different story lol)
That's my next phone for sure. Unless I go to the darkside and get a cdma iPhone

Desire S is releasing with Gingerbread (at the least, the article stated 2.4 which would be Ice Cream).
I'm pretty sure 2.4 is still going to be called gingerbread. HTC said the Incredible S will launch with froyo with an update to 2.4 coming soon after.

The big difference between it and the Incredible S it is launching alongside is that the Desire S will ship with Gingerbread (2.4) from the start, which should be some time in the middle of Q2 2011.

And a way faster (well capable of being) processor and 100% faster GPU, not to mention much more battery efficient. People read that it will have the 1ghz Snapdragon and assume that it is the same as the one currently in the Inc, but it is far from it.
But its still not as good as a dual core. Yea its better than what we have now but it could be better.

how do you know?
So many seem to be caught up on dual core being the end all, be all. Until the OS and apps are optimized for it, the only boost it will give is to your ego.
That being said, it doesn't seem as though we'll be seeing this phone on Verizon in it's current configuration. Qualcomm is notably silent on CDMA support in the specs for the MSM8255 chipset. It seems that this phone will be limited to GSM carriers.
Pretty sure this is GSM as well. Kinda sucks. 4 inch phone is about as big as I will go and I really don't even want to go that big. The 3.7 is perfect for me. The current offerings are just too big. I don't understand why people want a mini tablet to carry around?
Was thinking about getting a thunderbolt, but the incredible S looks sweet. Looks like I'll have to wait and see which feels better. Until I'll keep flashing ROMS and loving my Incredible.

Doubtful. They will drop this onto Verizon, probably as a SVDO capable phone. The entire basis for this phone is the Incredible, so it makes no sense to alienate those who have already bought into your product.

I think verizon will push to keep the incredible in their line up... The demand was pretty high for this phone when it came out.
Verizon stops selling the incredible in march and the incredible S is launching in march... I would be surprised not to see this in the droid line up.
And just saying aandroid 2.4 is meant for dual core phones.. So there you go an os optimized for dual core... I'm holding out for quad core snapdragons.

Given it's current specs, it's a GSM only phone. To operate on VZW, they'll either have to add a CDMA radio or switch to another SoC.

[Q] should i?

ok, soon i can get a new phone... thank god its about time... after a year of struggling with this hell of an device called the SE X10i o.0
now im lookin for a phone where the bootloader isnt that hard to crack xD
and came to the point of htc as many ppl told me to look at...
would you guys suggest me this phone, or should i wait a little longer for a different one?
and how is the life-time of the battery? (l0st.prophet posted that the battery lifetime is about 24hours, which sounds awesome, can more people confirm this please?)
tbh the speaker cant be worse than the one from the x10i so im not very worried about that xD
thanks in advanced for the reply's ^^
Well it depends really ?.....what i mean is that currently no root has been found so you will have to make do with the current stock rom....this is a major down side for me as i prefer stock android....other than that ...great little phone ....battery life is good does last alot longer than xperia which i had about 8 months ago and is also better than my desire hd which i also currently have....also speakers not bad at all....better then desire hd again. All in all its a nice little phone ...just no root yet
Speakers better than the DHD? Really? Sounded tinny and low quality to me durung the demo I had with the device ...

little as in everything is little once you hold a desire hd lol....due to its 4.3 inch screen....but phones the same sort of size as the old desire.....dont think its as big as x10 though ....although most of the bulk of the x10 was from the frame.
As for speaker....it could be better ...but it is definitely a step or two up from desire HD as i did another test today and played two identical mp3 files ans you could here the incredible s alot more
.....just a quick post to say that put them side by side just now and they are both pretty much same size just DHD is a bit harder to hold and text with one hand.
Also although the incredible s is not that much louder...the music seems to have more depth. just thought id mention it
Look at later posts by me to see comparison images

Thanks, that's a good guide. I tried the IS against the DHD in store and although they are not THAT much different in size they certainly feel it!
I have to say, the IS does look incredibly classy there ... very tempting!
Any chance of a pic with the screens on btw, maybe displaying the same page or something?
If anyone has any sample images from the IS I would also be very interested to see those.

I'm hopefully gonna be getting some help from an experianced dev on the rooting front, and I have contacted HTC about what accessories will be avalible and when (I personally want a car dock and desktop cradle) so I will post as soon as I get a reply
I am actually surprised that this phone hasn't been rooted already - even with the relatively short time it's been available.
I hope this isn't a sign that the devs are going to pass on this one - I'd like to see a LeeDroid rom for it and would be gutted to think it won't benefit from the support the Desire / DHD gets.

Thanks for the pics menov321.
The one of all three really demo's the difference between the DHD And the other two. The colours of the IS make the DHD look terrible. Can we assume that all settings on each are as close as can be to each other and this is exactly the same image background loaded onto each.
If so that's quite some demonstration of the poor quality of the DHD screen!
I'd be interested to see comparison pics of the DHD and IS displaying a graphic heavy website and also a video file or something paused to show the blacks and the contrast. I realise that's a tall order though -maybe I should just get one! lol
exactly the same image file used as just dropped the image onto each sd card of each phone ...and screen brightness is turned to full on all phones
Again i removed images as were too big..

BRAVIA ENGINE
FOR HTC SENSATION XL
Hi guys, ive come over from the SGS2 forums,i now have the XL after my S2 got run over by a bus .ive been trying a thew things and trying to get more development for the xl.heres one ive tried from the Desire HD and tested on my xl and there is some small differences in contrast and image detail. For more info on the bravia engine and what it does go to post 3 or for more detail go here http://blog.gsmarena.com/heres-what-sony-ericsson-mobile-bravia-engine-really-does-review/
Instructions
You need to flash using clockwork mod.
wipe cache and then go to advanced and wipe dalvic cache(important).
Once thats done go install from sd card and select the zip file
and enjoy
all credits go to XxXPachaXxX
Sorry about your GSII man...
Btw, what exactly does this mod do? Make the detail sharper?
i miss it a little
what it basically is a screen mod which Sony Ericsson use on there xperia phones which sharpens imaging, tweaks contrast and saturation and makes colours more vibrant and reduces noise,so the overall effect is the quality of screen looks more lovelier.its a post processing engine so you can only see the improvement on the phones display,if you turn the brightness on the screen to max, look at it and then apply the mod and then look at it again you will see differences in quality.
its explained it much more detail here
http://blog.gsmarena.com/heres-what-sony-ericsson-mobile-bravia-engine-really-does-review/
this is very well received. its a good mod which i used on my gs2 as well. it smooths out graphics and makes everything look vibrant. loved the screen on my arc before i sold it just hated all that blue in sony stock roms
Good, I'll give it a try! Thanks

Things do seem different but I honestly don't think its major, I like the screen as it is anyway. I'm came a Motorola milestone 2 which was a very crisp screen and has very natural colours. The screen on the XL may be low res but, everyone who uses my phone and plays on it say they love the huge screen and I agree haha!

Kodak's future. What are your thoughts?

Well I've been following Kodak for some time now and was just wondering your thoughts. I'm an amateur investor still learning and I've been buying stock to start off. I've only purchased in one company but I'm still researching.
Kodak put it's patents for sale in July of 2011 and no buyer's have come to the table. Who do you guys think will go for these? I was pointing towards Apple but who knows what those patents are and if they are even relevant to today's tech. Is there a way to look up a companies patents?
I would like to see Google or Apple buy these patents to use in their current devices/OS. Kodak's shares are at $.47 and are in danger of becoming delisted on the stock exchange.
It would suck to have an iconic company fall but it just goes to show you aren't to big to fail. They failed to adapt or innovate with the times. Remember when they sold their OLED business to LG because they thought there wasn't going to be a market for it. It came back to bite them in the arse now that we see this technology in a lot of devices.
Would you guys buy stock in Kodak? If so, why?
I hope they can bounce back. I hope we can get some intelligent conversation and keep this topic peaceful.
Thanks for reading guys.
If I could , I would ... Just for the Kodak films... And I'd bring their best ones back to production..

Wait, what?
So you'd be happy if Google or Apple bought the patents? Well look what just appeared in the news!

The link is blocked on my work laptop but it's weird how the link changed from informationweek to listal. I'll call B.S. on that link not being reputable or even anything relevant. (I'm careful on what sites I visit on my company laptop). If it's blocked it's usually not a good website or some B.S.
I can access informationweek.com on my company laptop but not that link. I smell shenanigans.
I guess this isn't the place to get intelligent feedback.

It was supposed to be a redirect to a rick roll. -.- don't get your panties in a bunch.
-My life is a shooting range, people never change-
Personally, I can only see them going one way...downwards.
Oh and this: http://finance.yahoo.com/news/Kodak-prepares-Chapter-11-reuters-1905853637.html?x=0
Hope they will survive, just bought kodaks digital frame with wifi, and its stupid properties is that you can configure auto on/off only from their webpage.
My father started his working life working at a Kodak Factory, earning his engineering wings along the way and moving onto bigger and better things including doing CAD on Military Hardware which paid his wages, which paid for the Alimony he paid my Mum, which barely covered the cost of clothing me for school let alone food, heating and other costs.
Adapt or perish. Darwinism in action. Record labels and Movie studios next...
..please!
Kodak is doomed. They failed to adjust and adapt.
One of the other guys here just spent over $1000 of company money on a desktop scanner from Kodak. When we got it, It's a freaking rebadged Visoneer, with even worse software. The kicker is, you have to "register" the software that comes with it to get a product code to use it, and Kodak won't reply.
They are history...blew it big time years ago!
