[Q] heat issue C6603 - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I updated to android 5.0.2 and the back back of my is getting really hot and im not even doing running heavy apps. Is this a known issue on lollipop for the xperia Z? Is there a fix?
Thanks in advance

I have the same problem and it is even turning the device off because it is getting to hot.

No..problem of heating.... Yet...
Device may hot its normal... Because its waterproof so there's no way air can get in....to make it cool...
It's also depends on the temperature on location where you live... Here in India... Now a days.. Temperature goes upto 47 degree celsius.....
So location temperature may affect the device temperature... It's Normal....

[Q] Galaxy S Overheating

Hi, I bought a SGS a few days ago. Everything was fine at first, but then it started to overheat even for a few minutes of use. It is around 32 degrees celsius when the screen is off, but even if I do nothing and keep the screen on for some time, it shows 41 degrees celsius. If I open a game or the music player it becomes 48.Not occasionally, every time I do the same thing. If it was a graphically intensive game it would probably be 55 easily. I deleted everythng and did a data factory reset, it slowed down the speed of the heating but the same thing happens eventually. I've checked similar threads and someone said even a temperature of 55 degrees is normal, but that can't be true since when the temp is 48-49 the phone becomes really sluggish, and apps stop working. Any ideas?
The most important thing is though, I dropped the phone once. However, it wasn't an issue that day and the day after. I don't think they are related, what do you think? Is there a cooling system that might be damaged? I don't want to send the phone back because there are small scratches around the silver part of the phone because of it and they might resend the phone saying it is the user's fault.
Lastly, the Froyo is installed now. If I upgrade to Gingerbread is there a chance that it will help the temperature stay normal?
I have had temperature of 60 degrees. It's pretty normal, I don't think gb would change anything from it.
When the temperature is about 50, the phone starts to lag badly, the browser lags and the games freeze. Before this, the highest I saw was 36 when playing a game.
As far as I know, when it hits 60 degrees, the phone turns off automatically, are you sure? It becomes very ucomfortable to hold too.
Definitely normal when the phone is doing something intensive. Phones don't have cooling systems - do you want a fan at the back of the device? Also, the phone can go beyond 60 degrees - it doesn't turn off when it reaches 60. If there is a defense mechanism it goes beyond that point. The battery on the other hand stops charging if the phone reaches a certain temperature. I don't recall any sluggishness with the phone at high temperatures or at least nothing like games freezing. One thing to do is to reduce to minimum the brightness of the screen coz Super AMOLED screens tend to produce a lot of heat at high brightness levels and that's what mainly heats the phone so much. Also, you can get a kernel with which you can undervolt the cpu - that will keep the cpu cooler.

I've never monitored internal temperatures, but....
Mine very rarely feels hot to the touch. If I played Dungeon Hunter for a half hour it would get pretty warm (not hot though) but that's normal I'd say. Send it back to Samsung Service Center - this phone costs half a grand, don't chance that it's slowly cooking itself to death!
Oh and I didn't find gingerbread to make a dramatic difference, wouldn't expect it to solve all your problems. Sorry dude.
try uc/uv-ing the phone, might help:\
I told you there was something wrong . It might be normal, but the beginning of it was definitely not normal. The thing is, when I set the alarm, the phone starts overheating. It goes to 40 without starting any apps, and sees 45-48 under 5 minutes of use depending on what I am doing. When I turn it off, it hovers around 36. I've never seen it past 38 even when there are three apps working. I've noticed this a few hours ago and still am still testing it, so I am not 100% sure, any of you had a problem with the alarm? It sounds even more reasonable because the time the phone started to do this roughly coincides with the time I set the alarm for the first time.
Hopefully the alarm is to blame, I can live without that .
I overclocked mine and It gets hot as hell. even when I charge the phone? Is there anyone who knows how to solve it?

Hi,
I would not worry to much if your device is 30+ it's normal. Now if its touching eg
50.. 60 + C start worrying.
My phone is at moment 31.2 C
Just remember...
Temperature, also depends on "other" factors also.
eg.. If you have an phone case /cover,
Temperature of your surroundings can play
a role.. etc
What workload it's doing. fo long period of time.. eg games, movies, music etc
But 30 C plus, is normal.
I sometimes let my device run over 40 plus.
Good luck
Is this something related to marshmallow??
Only when wifi connected then temp gOes up otherwise its normal below 30
i am getting same amount of heat, residing in Karachi and updated to MM. ?By the way, how is your battery life? for me it simply sucks as compared to Lollipop. I even factory resetted.

how hot can elephone m2 become before its functioning is no longer reliable

Dear all,
I just got a reply from a software support team that is quite normal that my mobile gets at temperature of 70 degrees Celsius or more. Not to worry about it unless the mobile shuts itself down automatically.
The reason of the heat build up is loss of GPS signal. I can recreate the problem easily.
I ask the software company to help and they waved the problem.
What is your ideas about this.
Kind regards,
Leo.
Wait so you're saying that if I disable location services altogether it won't heatup that much?

Xperia Z3 compact Very Hot. up 41° celcius.

Hi everyone, I have a serious problem with my Xperia Z3c, this don't stop to go up the temperature, this happens when I open some Applications, in consequence, the battery life go down very fast, i try to do the hard reset, reinstall again the software, but no fix that, I try to write many times To Sony, but they don't gimme any solution, in attached the screenshot for the temperature, using a little facebook, instagram and whatapps.
my version SO is:
Android 6.0.1
23.5.A.0.575
Ps: All versions have had this problem.
Thanks for the help.

And my device reaches 90 degrees celsius when backing up through TWRP,for me it shows that 43 degrees is idle temperature, and my device doesn't even feel hot at all,or warm.

If you touch back of your phone is it hot? Anyway if resetting or changing sw didn't help it seems to be HW issue and you can only RMA.

I don't think the phone would be running if the temperature was 90 degrees. And 43 idle seems to be nonsense too, I barely get that after an hour of intense gaming.

It seems to be wrong temperature reading then, gonna see then with CPU-Z or some other app
Maybe the outside temperature is the problem. I'm studying in Germany but when I fly back home to Cyprus where the temperature is much higher (normal day in the summer 30-35°) I can feel that the phone is getting kinda warm
I have same problem.
From time to time my phone is getting not warm but hot. Most time is warm and never cool when i use it.
Running CE1 575 root. No custom rom.
I encouter same problem on CM12.1. I even started to cool my phone with water!
Sent from my Xperia Z3C using XDA-Developers mobile app
I've found that it's running hot since I did the Marshmallow update to 23.5.A.0.575
Overall battery life feels to be down and coupled with the loss of Stamina/Ultra-stamina I'm now looking to downgrade back to Lollipop.

Battery draining faster than charging

So I don't know if anyone else have this problem. I'm running stock Sony Xperia Z rooted, the problem was there before I rooted it too. Whenever I use the phone for semi-heavy tasks like browsing facebook.com or watching youtube videos the battery drains quicker than what's being charged.
Is this normal? Does anyone else have this problem?
As i saw on my friend phone, this is normal on stock and on any fw. IMO battery is just old and that's reason why it's happening.
normal on stock, it's batter to install CM 12.1
Does CM 12.1 fix this issue???!!!!because this issue eating my head since a long time..i m using stock rom
For problem of draining battery when charing and using phone at the same time: its normal, and not only for Stock rom, its actually problem of how phone distribute power and how demanding those apps are that you use. An because most of apps, even those well known like chrome or facebook lack any optimization and android it self really can manage that either... we end in thin phones with powerful hardware(because xz is still good in this term) that make loots of heat and need lots of power.
Solution that I found when I used XZ was buying charger that had 2A or 2,4A instead of deafult 1.5-1.8A. Its not good for battery lifespan in long term time, and it make phone a bit more hot than normally, but Its only solution that actually work: phone dont lose charge when using apps and it charge way faster than normally.
In terms of hot phone when using heavy apps(because even facebook is heavy looking how resource demanding it is)... its normal, Its really bad for usage experience, its annoying... but its normal, new phones have the same problem, OnePlus, Xperia Z3... they all the same. And its all because of power that Android need to run smooth, and thickness of devices.
In Xperia Z we have glass front and back, and glass is not that great in terms of thermal conductivity, so it can keep that temp for few minutes after usage, and it can get hot really quickly. But even if now I put wooden custom made back on my xz, and I put on chip thermal paste that I had after replacing CPU in my pc, it dont get so hot, but I use it now as a smart extension device for my TV, and with MHL cable+charging it hot all the time, but after whole month of usage as a smartTV I can say that high temp dont affect performance so beside annoying usage its not that bad.
the phone lowers charging current when it's getting too hot, i noticed it with amperly app. also thermanager.xml has listed these values in system/etc/
yes this phone is terribly designed, charging takes forever even if you are not using it
