Unlock hidden 4G LTE bands - Zuk Z1 General

Has anyone had any success with enabling extra 4G LTE bands? This thread (click) about the Xiaomi Mi Note (pro) describes how to do it. It (the non pro variant) uses the same chipset as the ZUK Z1. Is it too straightforward to think it may work on this phone?
It describes how to use Qualcomm's diagnostic tool to modify the available frequencies / bands and it seems to work for quite a few people. Kudos to the first person that gets band 20 (800MHz) enabled!

It looks too complicated for me:/

Xiaomi Mi Note Pro is Snapdragon 810 MSM8994, Zuk Z1 is Snapdragon 801 MSM8974AC So it's not the same SOC.
Also glancing through that thread seems to suggest the hack is not working for everyone anyway.

It seems to be working for people with the Mi Note (not the Pro) and that is the same chipset (801)

I will try it but I don't have Windows... Just Linux

I believe that one day we can do it with zuk.
A lot to do yet. Let's start to become root smoothly and as we will see ...
Sorry for my english, is not mine, it is the translator of google.
Regards.

I got my Z1 on Friday and I analyzed LTE settings in NVRAM. It looks like band 20 being already active, so there must be a hardware limitation in our device. Sorry.

I live in the US and I would love to be able to unlock more LTE bands to use here. Specifically bands 17 and 4. Any chance this could be possible?

Any one know what bands VZW is using?

Default value was 2061584826437 in my phone.

So it is for sure, that Band 20 is already active but the antenna is not specified to make it? Can somebody else confirm this subject?

So has anyone tried to unlock additional LTE band 17? If this is possible using this method I'd love to get this phone. Otherwise it's not worth it here in the US on AT&T. If someone can confirm that this works that would be awesome! Thanks very much.

I am getting HPSA+ with no unlocking at all, and running Speedtest on it against my Note 2 4G LTE VZW, the Zuk blew it away in download and upload speeds.
Right now I am only demoing this with a Go Phone acct. so I am not sure if I should expect more, since my primary carrier is VZW for now?

Very interested on this feature.
Could anyone try toolkits made for One Plus One?

Any update on this ? Has anyone made any progress unlocking bands 4 and 17 for AT&T in the US ? Please confirm.
Thanks.

Was anyone able to do this? I tried QPST on my PC, but couldn't get the phone into the qualcomm diag mode (tried a couple of things, like the ADB command and some dialer numbers I found over the web). Maybe Windows 10 isn't able to load the drivers.

Which drivers did you install? Does a device show up in device manager when you connect your phone?
Remember: always run programs as administrator, otherwise they won't communicate with your phone.
PS: for me it worked on a Win10 machine. Unfortunately I don't have it at hand, so I'm not able to take a look at it.

Unlocking LTE Band 1

Hi all.
I ordered an M9, so I'll probably receive it and be able to somewhat answer my own question soon enough, but...
I'm wondering if anyone has tried enabling LTE bands, particularly Band 1 (I need it in Japan.) I know there was some success on the M8 unlocking various bands, so I'm hoping it will work on the M9 as well. Instructions as per this thread:

[Q] Enable band 2 on XT1103?

Hi everyone,
Last year I bought a Nexus 6 (XT1103), and I fell in love with it. The thing is, in my current country I need LTE band 2 for my carrier, and according to gsmarena this model *should* have band 2 LTE. However 3G is all I get. Not even H/H+.
I tried using the "Engineering mode" app, and it only shows Band 12, 25, 26, and 41. How come?
Is there a way for me to enable band 2?
Phone is fully stock; unrooted, bootloader locked, original rom.
Any help would be appreciated!
EDIT: Corrected the bands it shows me on the Engineering App.
You can find how to add bands in the General subforum. But are you sure you have an XT1103 and not an XT1100? Because XT1103 does have band 2.

Well, at least that's what it says in the "regulatory information" under about phone on the phone settings.
I also bought it as an XT1103 model. Is there any chance it isn't an XT1103?
Btw, I'll check the General subforum, thanks. Been searching for this without any real answers for the whole week.

Reboot to bootloader (shut down, then hold Power and Volume Down buttons together for a few seconds) and see what it says under "Product/Variant". It should say "shamu XT1103" along with internal storage size.

Uruguay / Movistar.
But I bought the phone in the US, in Amazon.
You have a North American Nexus 6, so you don't need to use that thread you found to add bands, as the device already has the band you need. It's possible your account is not currently set up for LTE, so you should contact Movistar and have them assist you.

So, what you say is that what I see on the Engineering Mode is completely unrelated? If the problem can only be solved on Movistar's end, then I might never have LTE, I guess. Carriers here suck really bad.
I'm still going to contact them anyway and see what I can do (although I already tried that before). If I somehow manage to solve it I'll let you guys know.
EDIT:
Just spoke with Movistar, and they say the service is already activated for my account, and that should be at phone's end, not their's.
The Engineering Mode thing I'm not familiar with as I'm on a custom ROM. What version of Android are you on, and have you upgraded to the latest? It's possible this is an issue with the internal modem, and installing a new radio may fix your problem.

According to Movistar's support page, their Band 2 is the same 1900 MHz that Nexus 6 XT1103 has, but you need some special SIM card called "USIM". It's possible you have an older SIM that can't support LTE. Ask your carrier to send you a new USIM card. In the US carriers sometimes do this for free, but they may ask you to pay a small fee.

Note 9 and Firstnet

Good evening all,
I am really hoping someone here can answer this question for me. I have a Note 9 purchased from T-Mobile model SN-N960U. It has been carrier unlocked using the tmobile app. What I was looking to do was take the phone with me over to AT&T Firstnet and use it there. The problem is band 14, which is the primary band firstnet uses. Will my phone work with Firstnet on band 14??? I called Firstnet and they said it would work. The manager at the local AT&T corporate store said since it is a T-Mobile phone that it will not work with band 14. What makes things even more confusion is it appears all Note 9's have the same model number regardless of the carrier it was made for. So can someone here confirm for me if it will or will not work on band 14 for Firstnet?
Thanks!
From what I have been able to find out the N960U does not support the use of LTE band 14. Check here for more information: https://www.phonemore.com/samsung-galaxy-note-9-sm-n960u-512gb/specs/4164

But then you look at GSM arena's site on the Note 9 it says something completely different.

So that, along with the conflicting info from ATT and Firstnet is why im so confused.

In that case I would take your device to a AT&T retail branch and ask if they have a test SIM, which they can use on your device.
Yes. The Note 9 will absolutely work on FirstNet. Doesn't matter if it's a T-Mo device, they are all identical. When you put in the FirstNet SIM it will provision for that carrier.

I actually did try that today and they said they do not have "test" ones and can only do it if they actually setup an account which would require me porting my number over from Tmobile and going through all that.

Mr. Orange thanks for that article, that is one I had not seen yet while doing my research. Are you sure that article is not talking about just ATT "branded" Note 9's? I am cautious because when I put it in to service mode *#2263# it does not list band 14 with all the other ones it has. Is it some kind of hidden band that will enable itself when a Firstnet SIM is put in to the phone?

It doesn't matter. ALL US Note 9s are identical hardware-wise and capable of supporting the same bands.

Nope. This has been discussed many, many times. Since the S8/+ all the US (and Canadian) Galaxy devices have identical hardware. That is why we can flash the N960U1 firmware on the N960U and vice versa. If the hardware was different, it wouldn't flash. It's just different firmware and carrier features preloaded on each device version.
N960U1 = N960U = N960W

Verizon non mm wave 5g on unlocked s20 fe?

I'm trying to help a friend out who has this wonderful phone. Is there a way for the unlocked US model to utilize Verizons Nation wide 5g? I know it won't work with the mm wave but curious about the nation wide 5g since it uses a different antenna. Any help would be appreciated. I did search the forums and didn't see an answer to this specific question.

There was a firmware update pushed out for the Verizon variant (and other phones) that activated lowband 5G access. The update for the unlocked version has not yet been released.
Does that just do the same thing as your fix?

No. You want the csc to show vzw/vzw/xaa in software information under about phone in settings, but the unlocked fe model will automatically set this. If it is a carrier version fe, you may need to. For example a t-mobile branded one, you would want to see vzw/vzw/tmb

Exynos models have a service mode, as long as as you are only working with LTE and not 5g, there are options to work with. The exynos model doesn't have a 5g modem or antennas for 5g service.

It could, I have a UW model so it is hard for me to test. My understanding though is the U1 models are built without the the UW antennas, which if so, would make it impossible without hardware changes.

Question [Dead](QPST) Enabling Cellular Bands on the Snapdragon 888 on Mi 11/Pro/Ultra

Hello,
I'm looking to inquire some help on enabling otherwise blocked bands on these devices. I live in the U.S. and could greatly benefit from it. I looked at some posts on using the QPST and QXDM tools for Qualcomm devices, however I am a bit out of my depths as far as this goes. I know that 888 has a built-in modem (x60) but I couldn't find any material on all the bands it supports. If anyone of you could help point me in the right direction, it would be very much appreciated. Thanks

However, I'm trying to enable blocked bands on the snapdragon's modem. Some of them they don't enable on different phones because of legalities and some just aren't supported by the chip.
