[Review] FlexiCase for the 5X by Orzly - Nexus 5X Accessories

FlexiCaseby Orzly

Thanks for the review. I received one of these today. It doesn't have the pattern on the back that you show in your review.
I'm finding that it's bulging slightly on the left hand side.
On the exterior left of the case there is a 8mm long strip that's not flush with the case.
I don't know if the two are connected.

Not mentioned anywhere, but does it include a raised lip for the camera bump?

Do you still need back cover when using th emetal bumper? I am in searching a case for my new note 2. Thx.
I have a review for one coming up, but the one I had didn't protect the back at all.
How did this one fair?

i've got this bumper as well as the bumper previously posted. i find this one to be more durable and study and it also goes over the back which stops your back cover and camera lens from touching whatever surface you put it on.
both can limit your options with accessories though since the ports for the headphones jack and microusb port are quite small and can block some accessories (it blocks my htc car charger and asus n7 2A charger so i ended up using a saw to cut a bit off the microusb area. still sturdy and durable.
the only thing i didnt like was that these cases arent grippy, so im just using an xtremeguard skin on the battery door since it adds a lot more grip.

if i remember correctly, on the note 2, according to the samsung tear down, the antenna isnt in the top corner, its on the lower part of the backside of the device (next to the speaker). signal on my device has not been affected.
I've been loving mines. Debating to grab other colors. As you see I replaced my back with a leather one just do to the oem cover being too slippery. I haven't noticed any loss in reception.

The PDair one has finger grooves on the sides. It should make it easier to hold.

Also the pdair one does not have its own buttons, rather large contoured cutouts for the existing buttons.

which, in other words, means its exactly the same as this ebay case that i bought.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Aluminum-Al.../160898550396?ssPageName=ADME:L:eek:C:AU:3160
the cutouts are small and prevent you from using some accessories (some car chargers and headphones wont connect fully). its also only protecting the sides and the screen, it doesnt go over the back part at all so offers no back protection.
thats the reason why i ditched it for this one instead.
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=310537377953&ssPageName=ADME:X:AAQ:AU:1123
this one has bigger cutouts, is slightly thicker (read sturdier and more durable) and goes over the back a bit as well to reduce the risk of grains of sand rubbing against your camera glass when you lay it on a table.
Ended up ordering this one.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/1xMetal-Alu.../271113513041?ssPageName=ADME:L:eek:C:US:3160
The back is pennies to replace and I've put a small piece of screen protector over the camera, so I'm not too concerned about those two factors.

I have the gold push button aluminum bumper and the rounded silver zomgo bumper. Of the two I prefer the look of the zomgo however the opening for the usb port is way to small. I got a discount from the seller and dremeled the opening and the usb seats perfect now.
Originally I paired them with the matching aluminum battery cover however after trial and error I found the metal battery cover (not the bumper) was causing pretty serious the signal degradation. So I got the carbon fiber battery covers which work great without degrading the Wifi or LTE signal.

Deal Alert Moko cases in black 5.99 Amazon

Both the slim-fit multi angle and the ultra slim smart-shell is on sale for 5.99 with free shipping if you have amazon prime or orders over 25. Ordered both with the ravpower wifi-disk...will try my hands on a video review of all three when they come in.

I've been on the fence about the smart shell 'cause I don't usually like cases with the front flap... but at $15 including next day shipping (Prime rocks), it's worth a try.

I hate how the metal plate could potentially come into contact with the screen. You grab it wrong and could push the flap sliding it over the screen, the metal plate will scratch the gorilla glass.

Yeah there concerns about that. Some use plastidip. I think I'm going to remove the metal plate and wrap the part that would come in contact with the screen with electric tape
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk HD
Or a screen protector would help too right? I'm gonna have to find my can of plastidip! If there's real friction though the dip will probably just peel right off and scratch the glass

I mentioned in another thread that the plastidip company now makes a primer that supposedly makes it stick better to metal. You might try that if you are worried about peeling...

I opted for the genuine leather version of the Moko slim fit multi angle case. Absolutely perfect! Very nicely finished, fits beautifully, looks great. Opening for Pogo charger (stitched all around too). A bit more than the PU leather version, but it is very nice for $21.

This can't be true. It would depend on so many factors such as the specific metal, the shape of the metal where it comes into contact (a point, an edge, a curve..), the force of contact, etc. Gorilla glass isn't some mystical impervious material.
---------- Post added at 10:47 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:40 AM ----------
Just received my ultra-slim Moko. For $6 it's nice but I really wouldn't recommend it for a few reasons.
1) As mentioned before, the metal piece on the cover could potentially come in contact with your screen and scratch it.
2) When closed, the cover slides around. This is very obnoxious when you are walking around with your tablet in one hand. Basically, if you hold it vertical, the cover slides up while the tablet slides down from its weight. Over time this is just going to get worse as the cover loosens.
3) I'm having lots of trouble making it stand up in both positions and stay put. The triangle fold does not hold, I think due to poor choice of the size of each edge of the triangle. Maybe with time it will get better but it hasn't so far.
Overall this thing is just flimsy, although it does look and feel nice to the touch.

I got mine yesterday in blue. I really like it. Very solid feeling in the hand. Doesn't feel cheap by any means and seems like it would be hard to scratch up.

The ATT, Tmobile and Sprint will all look the same. It is only the Verizon version that is unique not only in the button placement but the speaker grill positioning.

Actually not as bad as I thought. The rubber on top, and bottom of the case, raise the phone up off the surface when its sat on its back. So the whinny back never contacts the table ect.....

I have the metal slate case and just got an email from Spigen saying they updated the design and will be shipping me another with a bigger hole for the IR blaster.

Protective case for use with glass protector?

I have tried to find the answer to this question on the forum but there is so much info it's confusing me. I would like to put on a tgsp on my S7 Edge, maybe the Gpel, but would like a case as well. Has anyone managed to find a case that fits without lifting the tgsp off please?
I have been successfully using my GPELv2 with my Otterbox Commuter case. They say it can't be done, but after using a bit of heat and "massaging" the edges of the TGSP, I then took my time applying the case, ensuring all edges were overlapped and covered. It does ever so slightly show near the bottom rear that the case is slightly bowed out, but I'm talking fractions of a millimeter, and it does not shift or affect the protector in any way, and the port covers fit and work 100%.

The thought of "using a bit of heat" near my shiny new phone fills me with dread! I had hoped that there would be a case which would fit a tgsp easily but I think it looks like they are mutually exclusive unless you're prepared to take a bit of a risk.

according to the list from the second link in this thread the Dome is compatible with the Alcantara case
I just installed the whitestone and am using the alcantara case. It works but the bottom is a cause for concern. The bottom left and right edges actually touch the screen protector. You have to ensure that the left and right flaps come over top the glass, otherwise you will be pushing up against the glass.

Be careful when putting the case on. There's not much room around the edges.
I bought the Zizo to be used at work and 2 other cases for home/days off but with not having much room I'm not going to be swapping cases like I was.

This is directly from them:

Also, I believe the Spigens are all cut from the same plan/pattern. The bottom is RIGHT at the case on my phone but not so at the top. If I had it to do over again I would have put some scotch tape on the JIG on the top piece in the area that is the stop for the bottom of the protector. If you don't know what I mean just dry fit it and push the protector to the bottom of the phone Where it contacts the JIG, put the tape there to space it out . This would push it up less than a MM to give more gap and better center it for the spigen cases.
Whitestone + official Samsung rugged protective case = perfect fit so far. But only 4 days so maybe too early
Works perfect with spigen thin fit
