My theory for a possible bright future for G Flex - LG G Flex

I reckon that android is not the future (since not much being done on it for the flex) but in fact windows 10 mobile.
Sounds crazy but if u look at it maybe it isn't:
The Xiaomi mi4 is a snapdragon 800 n that is one of the very very few phones atm that can run android or win10m.
Microsoft are big and experienced enough that I wouldn't be surprised if they released a universal ROM that works on multiple different kinds of systems ala much like normal windows can (Which is part of my expanded theory what they'll do to really penetrate the market).
Is there any hope in my theory? Lol

Anyone agree with me? Cmon I'm trying to bring hope to our beloved phone. Heh.

Of course man! I am unaware of cell phone getting a newer rom skipping various version of android but as we say theres always a first time for everything even though could be the last one we see. I mean this phone still pretty powerful though. D800 under hood, 2gigs starts to be n issue but who cares not every body uses 70 to 100 apps, plus we install roms specially to get the most out our devices! What is it?? What is making this premiun devices not to get enough android development!!??

you are talking about a mobile phone that was completely abandoned by LG but had strong potential, i am literally still stuck at android 4.2.2 on this phone and i can tell you it is absolutely terrible , i am probably buying a letv 1 pro instead, basically my point is that this phone is dead and un supported by any one frankly

iphone rom

I know people are going to hate, this but just wondering is it possible to make a iPhone Rom
Go buy a f***ing iPhone.
Ouch.
That's an interesting question, though. Mac O.S. is basically its own flavour of Unix. Because of this, it makes sense that Iphone O.S. is some derivative of Unix. Since Android is based on the Linux kernel and uses a sort of Linuxy userspace, it might be possible to reverse engineer Iphone O.S., or somehow get the source code (good luck doing this!), patch it and compile it for an A.R.M. prcessor and make a Nexus One boot into it.
I doubt that anyone will really bother, though; there is so much work involved, and you can already buy a Iphone.
It was a question to know if its capable I had a 3gs but I love me nexus and you don't have to be ****
Thank you keet that does sound like a lot but would be pretty cool

Why would it be cool?
A couple reasons if you could use the iPhone app store that would be cool because let's face it the iPhone games and some apps are better and you can switch between the 2 best systems and I know if you have a Android phone you don't really like the iPhone a jailbroken iPhone is still a good phone but it needs to be jailbroken
*~* P-u-n-c-t-u-a-t-i-o-n *~*
My brain hurts now...
P.S. I very highly doubt you'd have access to the iPhone's app store, just because you've got a ROM. If this were possible, don't you think someone would have found a way to simple bring that over already!?!?
I just wondering if it was possible thats all
Sure, anything is possible. It essentially comes down to getting the OS to work with the hardware.
but would anyone do it? No
How about a windows 3.11 ROM while we're at it?
Really??????
I only want DOS on my phone. Can someone do this please?!!?!!
No way, let me install Win7 on my N1, please. I want to play Crysis on it.

How did you find this place?
c'mon, plenty of people would be interested in trying an iPhone rom if it were available. however the difference in the chipsets means it probably won't be happening. especially now that Apple makes its own chips.

The A4 is a custom implementation of the ARM A9 processor. Guess which other phone this can be found in...give up? This is also found in the nexus one (Snapdragon). The big difference here is the GPU which is mated with the A9 in apple’s design.
Currently, the iPad is the first (and only) product to employ the A4. So for now, porting a rom over wouldn't be limited by the fact it is written against the A4 (A9) but rather they are written against the ARM A8. Not knowing enough about porting I would have to defer to those with larger interest in such a matter but I would think barring any wonky crap apple decided to utilize, a port may not be as impossible as one may think once all of apple's mobile devices are running this new processor.
Having the ability to multi-boot a phone would be insane.
Nexus - custom boot loader (grub) that defaults to the phone's os - android
sd card - debian, winmo7, iphoneOS
Don't like it, don't use it. The ability to do it simply because you can? Sure why not.

[Q]IOS 4 running on an android phone ! can our sgs do that !

i was browsing the web and i found an interesting video showing the htc magic running ios 4
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IY-uRRCARJw
i was thinking that our sgs has almost the same spec as the iphone 4(processor, amount of rom and ram), it would be possible to dump ios 4 on it ! that would definetly decrease the sell of iphone 4 ! with the 4 inch SA screen ios apps and games would rock on the sgs !
i also believe that the sgs has the most powerful HW , here is the GL benchmark results showing sgs on top of other phones followed by the iphone
http://www.glbenchmark.com/result.jsp
The biggest problem would be the resolution. The iphone 4 resolution is 960x640 and our SGS is only 800x400.
So porting iOS 4 to a SGS, sounds very dificult.
Looks fake but a very good (not nice) theme.

Android has been up and running on older iPhones for a few months now via dualbooting (iBoot).
Got to remember however that Android is designed to run on a variety of hardware configurations.
iOS is NOT designed to run on anything without specific Apple-selected hardware. Drivers would need to be created for each component of each phone, the resolution would need to be the same, it would need to be able to sync with iTunes to use, etc. Basically, far too much bother.
I would be more interested in the possibilities of WP7 or Meego (or maybe WebOS in the future?...) ports since they're available for lots of hardware configurations. Particularly WP7, since the Galaxy S seems to share the exact hardware requirements for the first generation of WP7 devices launching next month, including those by Samsung.

I bought the SGS after choosing that I wanted an android phone. I didn't pick this phone and then settled for the os that came with it.
Even if legit, why would you want to do that? If you want iOS get an iPhone, it would run better on the hardware it was designed for anyway.
Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should.

As far as I remember that video is fake, and it was done so that an iPhone's screen was captured with some program and then played with the HTC. The guy admittedly had to record the video a couple of times by the time he managed to synchronise his finger movement to the video playing on the HTC.
I agree with the most committed Android fans here, why the hell would we want to have iOS??? Like most we made the decision for freedom and choice and to be able to create and share our own content, not just consume.
However, I am curious to know if there is a way to get IPA's to work on Android. The market is a little short on well polished games so it would be great to see if there is a way to get them onto the current generation of Android devices.
"why not"
cause "you can"
a hack is a hack, it's fun, doesn't mean you should replace android by ios for daily use. still, i'd try it for fun.
now, the video is prolly a fake anyway, but hey, you never know
Its coming out on april 1st next year a leaked samsung doc said
I was introduced to Android by installing Froyo on my iPhone 3G and dual booting it with iOS4. It made me want to sell the iPhone and get a "real" Android phone since the battery only lasted 90 mins in Froyo and it was seriously underpowered (but still faster than my mate's Magic).
Like hell, am I ever going back to iOS! To any of you who haven't previously owned an iPhone, trust me when I say that you aren't missing out on anything. Tweaking or customising anything in iOS on supported hardware was a pain in the back-side. Porting it to another device would be an absolute nightmare and really not worth the hassle!
"Why would I want to" and the like really don't add value to the conversation, dudes...
I was tempted to jump into the "can I run WM7 on the SGS" thread with the same childish smart ass comment, but took the mature path and just didn't bother reading the thread at all. Despite not being able to fathom why someone would want to, it's a legitimate technical question to ask if someone is interested in doing it.
Why the hate????
I've always known the guys at xda doing awesome things to their mobile phones, just because they can.
It's this "because we can" and "can we do this" attitude that has built xda from nothing to something very brilliant.
Had we not had such enterprising members, we'd never become the no. 1 andorid hackers in the world.
There is not a single forum that is as good and as xda.
Anyways I am very interested in this project. Dual booting the iOs is still awesome.
It's not a bad idea at all although it will take years before anything ever boots.

"Old(er)" Smartphones and their chance on OmniROM ?

Dear Omni ROM team,
ever since waiting for my upgrade to Android 4.0.4 on my LG Optimus 3D, I was wondering, how the community would treat such devices in the near future.
Why is a 2011 smartphone already considered "old" and why not ? The Optimus 3D is no exception here and I hope I can start a discussion about this matter here.
On my Optimus 3D I can run (nearly) any app, without problems, without frameloss. I can take photos in a good quality, I can listen to mp3s, use it as flashlight, I can use youtube, facebook or use it as a navigation system. It tells me about the weather, I can recieve emails and sms and in the end I can use it as phone. Just like any other smartphone.
I have to admit, I dont have OctaCore, I dont have 4 GB of RAM and I cant use the android PS2 emulator above 12 fps. But that is okay to me. Maybe adding a lighter to smartphones would be a good idea. Or a knife, or a screwdriver...
Im not one of those "Hey, I got the newest Android Custom ROM on my device, how about you ?" guys. But for sure I dont want to be the last guy on earth using 4.0.4. Also, I wont buy a new device, just to have a newer android running.
For example, I maybe think of the day that I want to download an app and it will throw out an error ala "You need Android 4.4 to run this", while I know, that my device is still able to run that app / still powerfull enough to run that app.
I just recieved a LG G2 from my provider today and already decided to sell it on eBay. It wont recieve Android 4.3 and probably around march 2014, LG might introduce Android 4.4 for it. Might...sounds just like the story of the Optimus 3D to me. Sounds just like the story of most other smartphone brands out there.
Google claims, KitKat "was made" for devices with 512 MB RAM. Hey, I DO have that ! :highfive:
So why cant I use it ? :crying:
I know, it will never come. Neither from LG, nor from Cyanogen. Maybe as OmniROM ? I dont think so.
But why is that ? Is it "just" the huge variety of different smartphone models that makes development teams concentrate on the "newer" ones only ?
Are there just too many different smartphones around...too many to cover them all with custom roms ?
Why even include a function like OTA into smartphones, if a smartphone is already considered "old" after 1 year and beeing forgotten ?
It happened on the notebook/netbook/laptop market already. 10+ year old devices running on WIndows 7. Linux, Mac OSX and even Android (x86) made it into the PC sector.
Even the HTC Dream has a higher Andorid version then mine now. And it (nearly) works perfect.
I can see Optimus 3D development coming to a stop soon on xda. I try to understand why, but it is not easy.
What are your thoughts ?
•Lack of proper documentation .. (similar to galaxy nexus)
•Lack of a dedicated device maintainer(must for omni rom )
• that time developers now shifted to newer devices
• optimus3d was never a flagship ..hence never got any real attention..
•too heavy
•dedicated device owners who got lg g2 decided to sell g2 instead of o3d

Android Auto doesnt work!

So I guess im super lucky and finally got Android Auto in my Sonata 2015 but it doesnt work with The Verizon Lg G3.... Its one of three phones that it doesnt work for supposedly... Just FYI, it would be "1 of 3 of the MOST POPULAR new phones" running stock Lollipop+ that Google has tested.
I'm sure there is a huge list of less popular phones that aren't working, but Google has only done positive/negative testing on the most popular. Fragmentation is a problem for Google too.
Maybe that will make you feel slightly less bad.
Sorry I don't have an answer for your actual question.

yeah that's true but as far as Im aware if it has lollipop it should work regardless and if someone doesn't have lollipop I doubt they would have android auto. Its just annoying because every other variant of this phone works with android auto and it seems like something someone on XDA could fix before Verizon gives out an update... which would be months from now if that! Guess I just have to wait or buy a new phone which im too cheap to do!
Or flash cyanogen 12? (Not 12.1) the last 12 official build works fine.

This is why I'm not on Verizon, and why I don't buy phones with heavily OEM modified Android. You risk it not working with the latest and greatest that Google puts out.
I have always stuck with Nexus (or recently) Motorola devices. As much as I liked the G3 (and the G4 even more), I want to play with all things Android, so better to stay with vanilla Android as much as possible.

Android 4.0 For Samsung Galaxy Pocket (Further Development Attempt)

Hello!
I have old Galaxy Pocket, and when i saw that no one even tries anymore to do anything for this little cute phone, I'm gonna do it
And first, is gonna be Android 4.0
i know people already did that... but these version's didn't work fully , all of them had some sort of problems
and that's what i'm gonna try to do, I'm gonna modify and patch one of better version's of ICS for pocket that already exists
so... i guess that's it... I'm gonna update this when i will make some progress

Nope, Pocket (S5300) and Pocket Plus (S5301) have different chipset and then aren't compatible.
There's currently a 4.2 ROM for you device, but it is in very early stage.
I also have a S5301L and I'm trying to make a decent ROM for this device, but the only and hardest problem is the touch driver not working. I'll post here if I can fix that, but seems that this will be really difficult (the original dev leaved the development 4 years ago for the same reason, broken touch).

The Galaxy Pocket (GT-S5300) uses an ARMv6 processor, that core is nowadays weak and has a lot of limitations (most of them can only be passed by emulation, but as it's a weak cpu the performance would be terrible).
