[Q] Back button light - HTC Butterfly S

Hi all, I've noticed that when the hard keys light up, the back button is lit up but not as brightly as the other two. Has anyone else noticed this too or do I have a hardware fault? Thanks.

That's problem is not present on my device

Hi, I think 901s as I'm in SE Asia. It is noticeably dimmer than the other two. The shop said they'd get back to me.

I'm using a 901s and all three buttons are lit pretty equally. Sadly there doesn't appear to be a way to alter the brightness in the settings.

901s here and they are all the same brightness.

Hi all, thanks for the feedback. I've been informed by HTC I will be getting a one to one exchange. Waiting for the shop to call me.

It is a great phone. So much better than the one. This is what the one should have been. Anyway, think I found a bug in the music app. Happened on two of my earlier ones.( had the black before the silver one). The music will start skipping and tripping for no reason when using headset. Sometimes, it takes a while, sometimes straight away. Really annoying. Sometimes calls last number. Anyone else? Cheers.

Seems that the button on the headset is too sensitive, so it's accidently pressed when wearing, so you have such problem. I have HTC RC E160 which came for me in the box and I also experienced such things when buttons were pressed by my bag, although they're tougher.

It happened with my old sensation xe beats headset too. If I unplug and plug headset, then the problem goes away. Maybe something to do with the jack. Shouldn't be happening.

Hi all, finally got my new phone. All lights working now. :good:

Sad that I too have this problem. Gonna go to HTC Service Centre and try to get a new one. And if I'm not wrong its the 901s model.

Guess we must be the unlucky two. Didn't even cross my mind to check for this. Anyway, hard to notice when buying the phone during the daytime. It should be a one to one exchange. Good thing I didn't root it yet. Otherwise, HTC will no doubt give you a song and dance.

Microphone issue

Hi xda,
I wanted to see if anyone else was having trouble with their microphone. On most of my calls I get told its like I'm talking with either my mouth covering the microphone (which I'm not) or that I'm talking quieter than a mouse.
When I use the loudspeaker, they can hear me fine.
I have tried taking the case off, but that makes no difference.
I am getting my replacement from 3 on Monday (they actually have the worst customer service known to mankind) so will let you all know how it goes.
I hope this is a 1 off, but thought I would see if anyone else has had this issue

are you using any thick cases?
Hi, thanks for the reply.
I tried it with the case off...and had the same problem. I think its intermittent as it happens on about 80% of calls.
I think the Mic might be down the bottom right had corner as there is a tiny hole there...and on the case its got a large gap to keep it uncovered
i have the same problem did you fing out where the problem is?

are both of you running custom roms? if so that might be the problem. i came from the s2 and when we got the ics leak it came with a horrible echo, underwater sound, and muffled sound. same problem with jb leak until source code was released. hope this info helps:good:
Hi,
no I wasn't using a custom Rom, it was stock.
I didn't get to the bottom of it, and I had to really fight to get a replacement, but now that I have, the sound issue is fine.
My new one does have that very slight lip at the bottom near the charging port, but I'd rather have that than a non working Mic.
sorry I couldn't be of more help but if I were you I would either call your network for a replacement or HTC to fix or exchange if you bought SIM free

Still got issues after latest update!

Ok, so this is my 3rd device now, SIM free UK phone from phones4u,
Just updated to latest software and still suffering from the issue of intermittent back and home buttons not lighting up and also (and most annoying) is the static hiss/interference noise that I get through the earpiece when making calls.
Was really hoping that these would be sorted by the update ......might well be a deal breaker for me now as in the very least it should function properly as a phone. Gutted as have really tried to persevere with the phone but poor call quality is a real issue.
Anyone know why this is there and if there is likely to be any fix for it ?

What a pain. I'm on my third one too, from phones4u sim free. This one has a couple of dead pixels and small gap, but the unresponsive back button issue is gone... So I'd say give it another shot at an exchange!

Mines fa34kw sim free black handset. Build is fine and the back buttons are not unresponsive, just don't light up as often as they should but that u could live with, it's the noise on calls that's really annoying, I've noticed that it seems to be mainly there when I make the call, not when i receive them

Home and back button response trouble due to screen protectors

I have a Ghost Armor screen protector and my home and back buttons do bot always respond. Thus is my first android phone so I am not sure if this is normal. Has anyone had the same trouble but have it fixed if they removed the screen protector.

on ebay they do ones that just cover the screen and not buttons thats what i use
Try this,
settings > language & keyboard > htc sense input > advanced > calibration tool
see if that will make the response better.
I had this trouble but the new update fixed the response for me

I'm on the sprint version (not updated yet) and I was having the same issues with response - I'm using a screen protector. It could be just placebo, but when I use power saver or if I turn the vibration on the buttons off, they seem to always work. I've been testing it for the last fifteen minutes without a mispress.
Maybe the rest of you could try it and see as well?

That's the most current available on AT&T. To get the actual most current you'd have to root and install custom ROM on 1.29....13

I just put on my otterbox screen protector and now I am having troubles with the capacitive buttons. No issues prior to the screen going on.
I'll have to try out the SPGs, I haven't had a problem with them back with my last cell.
I have a Rogers SIM card. What version is Roges on? If it is higher, will the Rogers SIM card update my software?
I think skin oils are causing a drop in capacitive button response. Wipe the button area clean with a sleeve and it should start working again.

To me it happens mostly with the back button. Drives me crazy in tapatalk. I'm not buying the screen protector as the issue. I had the issue before and after putting one on.

I've used it like this for quite a bit longer...and while it's a great temporary solution it's not fool proof.
In my experience the buttons need to be "reset" every once in a while...power switch, long press, vibration switched.
But I do think taking off the vibration helps the buttons to not mess up as often. I recommend people to try it for sure.

Updates are in the settings under "system updates"
Currently the updates for the htc one have pushed to the euros, in the state's we're waiting for the carriers to release it.
Your other alternative would be to root your phone and flash a rom with the update fixes.

My HTC One's touch is acting weird...

So, this thing drives me crazy...I've tried everything I knew and still nothing solved this problem.
I'm using HTC One. About 10 days ago weird things with touch started to happen. It seems that touch is partly unavailable/unresponsible on touch in one or two small areas. It seems to me like theres an empty place on my touch. Visualy is everything fine. Screen is crystal clear and has no damages or scratches. But I can't slide icons without troubles. Somwhere on 1/4 of screen, touch brakes briefly and I need another try to slide the icon. The same thing happens with status bar on the top of screen - I can slide it until that 1/4 part and it stops there and goes back. If I slide it quick with short move, it works fine, just slide alone over problematic area.
Also, few times I had that problem where screen works things on itself will. Makes pictures, or adds filters on Instagram, or, I don't know, just jumps around for few secons. Then, I lock the screen, then unlock it and usually that calm down the screen.
Also weird thing is that, when I want to send message, I can't reach "send" button in first try. I have to drop down writing sheet, than to touch the letters to put it in writing mode again, and then I can click the "send" button. On the same place where it was previously!
At first, I thought that plastic case or PVC protection is the problem, so I took off the protector from the screen. That solved problem for a bit. Then, I put back screen guard, and problem came back. After I totally rejected screen guard, problem is still here. I've tried to reset phone on factory, but that wasn't helpfull...
I forgot to state that I'm using Android 4.2.2 and this started to happen after that version update. I had no problem before.
So, now I'm here, as I don't know what else to do before I take this beauty to service. I just hope that this happens because of software bugs :crying:
Is there anyone who could help me? Have similar problem or know how to fix this?
In the meantime, I'll just hope that 4.3 will fix it themself... :fingers-crossed:

Here's the thing that seems to be permanent now, it doesn't want to go back to normality...when I want to touch red dot and slide the YouTube song forward, I can't reach it, there's no reaction in that area. But, although I'm touching the red dot, the only thing my touch do is to expand the song title area or opposite of it (English is not my native language, so I don't know to explain better).
This area is the same problematic one that I described in first post...

I'm afraid but ther's no way... In this week i'll send my HTC One to htc because wifi won't turn on and camera is crazy... You have to send it to htc, too... You're phone will be repaired in guarantie, of course. I suggest you to talk with HTC Assistence Service's Chat (Google it). I'm talking right now with HTC..
The main problem with me is that in Montenegro doesnt exist HTC official store, so I bought my phone in the regular cell phone store. I'm pretty sure that I won't get another device neither free of charge service. I'll try to ask for advice in Serbian HTC center...
In any case, thank you for your time Alberto

Hey,
I'm having exactly the same problem with HTC one x.
Few months plassed since your problem. Did you find any solution for this issue?
This is driving me crazy.
I have the same problem with my HTC One here, in Australia.
My mobile was working fine but one afternoon, without any reason, it has started to do weird things. It's not getting better. I checked for virus but nothing.
Maybe the software update? Has anybody tried factory reset?

Is it the earphones or the phone ?

Ok so I've got these red earphones(ones that came with phone) and some other Samsung ones, anyway I've realized lately that the red ones don't work if I plug em in straight away, but I have to keep plugging it in and out of the earphone jack while spinning it until I see the earphones icon, but if I use some other earphones they work straight away
BUT
If I put those red ones in any other phone they work immediately..
So it's really confusing here if it's the earphones or the phone..
Could be a coincidence but I had the same problem with my red headphones that came with the phone. Now I'm using some white ones my gf got with her M8 and have zero problems. I also had trouble switching songs when I double tapped the button on the headset..it didn't seem to want to respond. So I just threw them out

Weird, if no one else posted about it then maybe it's associated with the updates or something.. because it hasn't been happening for really long, thing Is, the red ones don't have their own characteristics to be having issues with the software.... Wtf

This issue is very common. I see at least 1-2 threads for that issue each month. So I don't think its related to the update.
